The Better Beauty Box July 2018 Review

TBB July info sheet

Instead of including a stand-alone info sheet, the information about the products in the box are on a sticker that’s placed on the lid of the box.

TBB July zatik 1 TBB July zatik 2

Zatik Harmony Moisturizer, 1.7 oz – Retail Value $28

Now that I have been reviewing this box for a while, I am continuously impressed with the value and quality of the full-size skincare this box consistently includes. When I was a teenager, I know that I was really stuck with skincare options from the drugstore, so I know I would have felt really special to get a full-size moisturizer that costs over $10. This moisturizer is very light (which is what I prefer), but I thought the scent of the orange blossom and rose was very mild considering the aromatherapy aspect of this moisturizer is a key point.

TBB July primer TBB July primer 2

Medusa’s Makeup Stick It! Eye Primer, 2 oz. (Full-Size!) - Retail Value $9

I enjoy reading Liz’s Medusa Makeup reviews so I was excited to see a product from the brand. This eyeshadow primer goes on clear and it provided a great base for eyeshadow—I thought it helped my eyeshadow to last longer without the colors fading. I also love that this brand is cruelty-free!

TBB July lip balm 1 TBB July lip balm 2

Pacifica Natural Lip Balm in Summer Kale, Full-Size! - Retail Value $5

I can promise you right now—if I had this lip balm when I was younger I would have taken it with me everywhere and used it every chance I had in order to impress others with how beautiful and fun the packaging of this was. I may be a little older now but that doesn't mean I still don't appreciate the fun and beautiful packaging! This is another cruelty-free item, and I really enjoy the lavender and lemongrass scent. This also packs a punch of moisture thanks to the coconut, almond, and jojoba oils, which is exactly what I want in a lip balm!

TBB July soap 1 TBB July soap 2

Crystal Bar Soap Mini Soap in Ocean of Hope - Listed Value $8

I am never going to be mad about receiving beautiful soap in a subscription box, and wow is this a beauty. Besides the gorgeous blue, green, and glitter colors this soap also has a Sodalite crystal on the inside, which is supposedly great for being calm and thinking more clearly. I really love the coconut and mango scent of this soap, and I have it displayed as a hand soap because of the small size. This particular scent isn't available online, but all of the other mini soaps retail for $8 so I believe the listed value is accurate.

TBB July cleanser

Lone Bodycare Rosemary Cleanser, 2 oz – Retail Value $8

This product is a new concept to me, and I am HERE for it. This is a cleanser that you spray onto your skin, wait a few seconds, and then wipe off with a clean cloth—that's it! Sometimes I don't want to go through the hassle of a full cleansing routine, but I still want to make sure my face is clean and ready for bed. This is full of natural ingredients like tea tree oil, chamomile, and rosemary, and I really liked the way my skin felt afterward. I wouldn't use this if you had worn makeup that day (unless this was step two in a two-step cleanse), but on days where you've been home all day watching Netflix and generally being lazy (not that I do that often 😉 ), this is perfect.

The Verdict: I am going to say it-- The Better Beauty Box is marketed to teens, but this is really a great box for adults too. All of the products were both fun and useful, and consistently at least one full-sized skincare item is included that is worth more than the cost of the box. I calculated a value of $58, which I think is great for an ingredient-conscious beauty box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up today your first box will be the August box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $24 with free shipping, and I calculated a value of $58. That means you’re paying approximately the following for each item:

  • Moisturizer: $11.58
  • Eye Primer: $3.72
  • Lip Balm: $2.07
  • Soap: $3.31
  • Cleanser: $3.31

This is actually a great box. First time I’ve heard of it and what a great box! My daughter just turned 13… It could be a box we share (me with the makeup part, as she likes mascara only) and she can have the other fun parts – or swap and share. Cool. 🙂 I also was stuck with drugstore makeup and skincare (although not all entirely bad, I mean, they carry Dr. Hauschka at my local CVS).
