Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences. After choosing when you'd like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks 5 items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

Stitch Fix for Women July 2018 Review

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $246, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $164.50. That’s a savings of $81.50 on these items. In case you're wondering about the $12 credit, this is from a gift card I had!

This is my style sheet that includes a note from my stylist and features the five items I received along with different outfit suggestions and accessories that might pair well with them. Once again, I think that my stylist did a great job of trying to meet my needs for outfits I can nurse in. Recently, Stitch Fix added a section on their app where you can rate various styles of clothing and my stylist actually included a top that I had "liked" in my fix. That was very thoughtful and it's great that they are using this tool to help them pick items for customers!

Egan One Pocket Knit Top by Papermoon, Size L - Cost to Keep $38 (Keep)

This shirt was a no-brainer for me! I'm not even sure if it's really that flattering on, but it is completely my style! While it's not necessarily a nursing top, it's one that I would probably wear a cami under anyway, so it's just as easy to nurse in as some of my other tops that I have to lift up. Plus this one is so long, which I love! I have so many striped shirts in my closet, but none this color. I also really liked the zig zag edge detail on the stripes, which made it feel a bit more unique.

Hanna Drawstring Linen Shorts by Kut from the Kloth, Size 12 - Cost to Keep $58 (Return)

These shorts were super comfortable and I really loved the color, but wow, were they not a good match for my skin tone! They completely washed me out. They did match one of the tops that they sent well, but I actually liked the top better with jean shorts, which you can see below. The linen fabric of these shorts made them feel super soft and the quality felt very nice. I loved the little gold detail at the end of the waist ties too.

Dalenna Crochet Trim Knit Top, Size L - Cost to Keep $58 (Return)

This is the shirt that my stylist had sent because I had "liked" it on the Stitch Fix app. It looks a little different in person than it did on the site, but it was still really cute. I loved the floral pattern and the crochet detail on it and the fact that it was button down so I could easily nurse in this. Also, even though it was a light color, the fabric was thick enough that I wouldn't need to wear a cami underneath since you couldn't see through it. I felt really torn about this top because I loved that I would be able to nurse in it, but something about the style just didn't feel right on me. In the end, the cost is what kept me from purchasing it. For $58, I really have to love it and know that I'll get my use out of it.

Hayford Button Down Top by ID:23, Size L - Cost to Keep $38 (Return)

This top was way cuter than I expected. While it does have stripes, it's definitely not my usual style and I thought it was a great lightweight summer pick that I could nurse in. I didn't end up keeping this because it felt a bit short in the front for my torso. I have my undershirt tucked in and you can very clearly see my (high-waisted) jeans through the sheer fabric, so it definitely needed something underneath, but it looked very odd when I let my cami hang out from the bottom.

StitchFix July 2018 Green Dress closeup

Tawney Knit Dress by Kaileigh, Size L - Cost to Keep $54 (Keep)

I love this dress! It is so comfortable and I feel like it's the perfect length. It's not too short, but it's shorter than tea length so it hits my legs at just the right spot to be worn for any occasion. I love the beautiful green color and the flowy skirt. The best part is that I can easily nurse in this dress with the way the fabric overlaps in the front. It felt like a very modest dress, but at the same time, it was cute and feminine. The fluttery short sleeves also have me thinking that I will be able to pair this with some boots in the fall and really get a lot of use out of it!

The Verdict: This was probably my best Stitch Fix box yet. A few things just weren't right on me, but I still really liked everything that I received and felt they were definitely my style. My stylist really came through on items I could nurse comfortably in, which is great! It's amazing how addicting these boxes can be- I always look forward to seeing what's inside and then seeing how they actually look on me. The clothes are usually really cute and it helps me feel much better about my post-partum body when I find something that fits and is stylish- and even better when I can nurse in it!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $246. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all 5 items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $164.50. That’s a discount of around 33% for these items!

While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Great review! I like both items you decided to keep, and really enjoy that you tell us which ones you keep/return. I had Stitch Fix a while back and felt it was too expensive even though I chose the cheaper options for most categories. I like seeing fixes at this lower price point!

Thanks, Bethany! I do like when they send stuff at a lower price point, especially when it doesn’t seem like quality has been sacrificed! 🙂

I’ve had my fixes on hold for awhile now because I didn’t get much I liked and the cost was too much but just reactivated. A co-worker has been doing this for a while and she paid a $50 styling fee for a year. I would love that but I’m assuming it’s not offered to the casual fixer. Fingers crossed I like at least 1 item this time but then not everything too for the benefit of my wallet.

My sister in law did get offered that deal as well and she is a frequent shopper, so you never know! I usually hope for at least one item that I like or that I like the whole box since that 25% can totally make it worth it! 🙂
