Sephora Favorites Perfume Sampler Review

Here is what the scent certificate looks like that you use to redeem your perfume in store.

Prada Candy, 1.5 mL – Estimated Value $4.20 (redeems for a $28 0.34 oz rollerball)

Sephora classifies this perfume as belonging in the “warm and spicy” category, but that isn’t how it wore on me. When I very first applied it the first thing I could smell was alcohol that faded into a sweetness that smelled like a delicate combination of white musk and caramel. I thought the scent held up throughout the day, which is important to me when selecting a perfume.

Clean Reserve Warm Cotton, 1.5 mL

Clean Reserve Warm Cotton, 1.5 mL – Estimated Value $3.75 (redeems for a $25 0.34 travel spray)

This is in the “fresh” category according to Sephora, and I think that is fitting because this perfume reminded me of lemon scented Pledge! I am not necessarily mad about that, as it is a clean and bright scent that is refreshing as soon as you apply it. I wonder why I smell lemon, though, because the main notes are bergamot, musk, and benzoin (which is a sweet vanilla fragrance harvested from the resin of a tree). This scent didn’t last as long on me as some of the others did, which is a bit of a bummer.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, 1.5 mL

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, 1.5 mL – Estimated Value $5.80 (redeems for a $29 0.25 oz rollerball)

I got this present as a gift when I was a senior in high school and I absolutely loved it! Wearing it made me feel so grown up, and that was definitely something I craved as a 17-year-old. Now that I am an actual adult (I think?), this scent is actually a little salty to my nose. The notes of cedarwood, bamboo, granny smith apple, and Sicilian citron really combine into a powerhouse of a scent—but I would expect nothing less from D&G! This lasted throughout the day, which checks another box for me, and this is definitely the most expensive fragrance of the bunch.

Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gioia, 1.2 mL Estimated Value $2.88 (redeems for a $24 0.34 oz rollerball)

As soon as I applied this perfume I thought to myself “Wow, I feel sexy.” That is something I really love about perfume—the right scent has the power to make you feel like you’re going from blah to BANG. The combination of mint, jasmine, lemon, and brown sugar really make for an alluring scent—it isn’t too strong or cloying, but it doesn’t hide in the background either. This lasted throughout the day and I kept smelling my arm where I applied it.

Marc Jacobs Daisy, 1.2 mL – Estimated Value $3.24 (redeems for a $27 0.33 oz rollerball)

I have gotten so many perfume samples of Daisy from subscription boxes and gifts with purchase, and I think it is because of that I wasn't as excited about this perfume. It does smell lovely with notes of strawberry, jasmine, and violet leaves, but strawberry isn't a scent that I personally reach for. I am not going to lie though—I felt like I was a bouquet of flowers after applying it. The floral scent is quite pretty and it has sweet undertones that make it a very feminine scent. The staying power was decent as well, so props for that.

Kat Von D Saint, 1.2 mL

Kat Von D Saint, 1.2 mL – Estimated Value $2.64 (redeems for a $22 0.34 rollerball)

When I first applied this perfume I was floored—it smells like caramel! I was not expecting that and I actually quite enjoyed it, and the caramel scent faded to a vanilla at some point during the day. Sephora places this in the "floral" category, but I definitely think the sweet vanilla stands out more than the musk or jasmine on this one.

I have seen samples of all of these fragrances in subscription boxes at one point or another, and I would love to know which scent is YOUR favorite!

The Verdict: I really enjoyed trying out these different perfume samples! I never leave the house without wearing a perfume of some kind, so I enjoyed trying each one out while contemplating which rollerball I want to redeem the scent certificate for. Right now I am leaning towards redeeming for the Giorgio Armani, but I would love to know your thoughts on which one I should choose below. Value-wise, from these samples alone there is a $22.51 value, plus I get to use the scent certificate in-store to redeem for my favorite rollerball where the price ranges from $22-$29. Sephora promised a $44 value, and even if you pick out the cheapest rollerball you still reach that promised value! If you already know what perfume you like and have no interest in trying new ones, this set may only be worth it if you want to redeem for the Dolce & Gabbana or Marc Jacobs. If you’re not sure what scent you’re looking for this is a pretty solid deal, and it is a lot of fun, too!  I do recommend purchasing it when you get free shipping or when you are at a Sephora Location, however.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available!

Value Breakdown: This kit costs $25 + $5.95 shipping, bringing the total to $30.95. I received $22.51 worth of perfume samples plus a voucher to redeem for my choice of rollerball that ranges in price from $22-$29.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Clean Reserve Warm Cotton is my favorite perfume and I wish I could afford to buy another bottle. I rarely go to Sephora, so I can’t even get samples often. I cry :'(

I love these perfume samplers but I really wish they’d switch up the scents more, 4 of them seem to be in almost every scent sampler they make for women. Its not like Sephora doesn’t carry hundreds of scents either.

So you mention skincare above. What is up with that?

Jessica you rock. I really enjoyed your review. I saw this at sephora but was kinda ugh but after reading your review I’m going to go buy it. I really enjoy all your reviews. You’re killing it in life.

Kristine,
I just have to write how truly refreshing and sweet it was to read your kind comments to Jessica! Obviously, I don’t know either of you, but judging by Jessica’s response, she was touched by them as well! Too often we don’t take the time to “say or write something nice” for no reason at all, but it’s so sweet when we do! Sweet for the person it was directed to and for those that read or hear it too! A little bit of kindness rubs off on all of us!
Cheers to you!!

It’s funny that you reviewed this because I just purchased the men’s version for my dad. I’m not much of a perfume wearer, more of an essential oils kind of girl, but it sounds like you had the most somatic reaction to the Armani!
