My Japan Box Hello Kitty July 2018 Review

Hello Kitty Kimono Plush back of Hello Kitty Kimono Plush close up of Hello Kitty Kimono Plush

Hello Kitty Kimono Plush

I think this is the third plush I've received that is really similar with Hello Kitty wearing a kimono and kneeling on a pillow. It's actually the exact same one as I received in May but in blue instead of pink. That's a bummer. Other than that, this is a larger item that stands seven inches tall and although it is soft and plush, is more like a soft figure to put on a shelf as opposed to cuddling with at night. The kimono is really pretty and has a great sakura print and nice details with a bow that matches.

Hello Kitty Mini Notepad

This is an adorable design that reminds me of a grade school notebook with doodles all over it but it yet again another item I received back in May. Le sigh. There are two designs of paper inside the little notepad, one horizontal and one vertical so that you jot down notes to friends or reminders to yourself.

Hello Kitty Plush Charm

Similar to the plush, this soft charm has our girl in a kimono but this time black and red with metallic bronze accents in the print. She's attached to a red strap that you can hang from a zipper or cell phone case (if there is a notch for it) and there's a tiny red bell that jingles as it dangles from it.

Pink Sakura Hello Kitty Washcloth

This isn't the first time I've received a washcloth, but it is the first time I've gotten this pink sakura design. It's a nice quality and 10 inches squared with an embroidered HK head in the corner with her name and a scalloped edge detail. It's made of a really soft material as well, so this is great for washing my face or rinsing off a mask.

Hello Kitty Stickers

This is the third month in a row that I've received these exact stickers. Ugh. I think I've already made the jokes I've had about this sheet in June and May. It's a sheet of 41 stickers of Hello Kitty in four different sizes and different colors of overalls in different poses.

Hello Kitty mini cookies

Hello Kitty Babies Mini Cookies

These look like oyster crackers but are actually little puffed cookies. I tried them the last month when I also received them but they just kind of tasted like flour, so I won't be digging into them again. Adorable pastel packaging though.

Hello Kitty Cookie Crackers

Okay- these are really tasty! They're super buttery biscuit/cookies that I ate all in one go very quickly. I'm not sure who Hello Kitty's friend is on the front but she makes a darn good cookie. They're also shaped like HK heads with bows!

Hello Kitty Fruit Candy Trio

The last item this month is a pack of three different fruit flavored candies that come in strawberry, pineapple, and kiwi. I like the convenience of the container they come in so you can shake out the desired amount of round candies, kind of like a cuter Tic Tac. The flavors are really sweet n fruity but since they're so tiny they go fast.

Verdict: This is my last My Japan Box Hello Kitty. I still have never heard back from their customer service about canceling (it's been 3 days short of a month), but like I said in the last review, luckily, we were able to cancel via PayPal which is their main payment method (but unfortunately didn't do it soon enough and received this box as our last). This month had the most duplicates I've ever gotten and I don't think it was anywhere near the value it should have been for a $49.00 box. Three of the eight items were cheap snacks and three others I had received in recent previous boxes.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, since boxes are mailed at the beginning of the month, it looks like you have to sign up by the end of each month to receive the following month's box as your first.

Value Breakdown: At $49.00 for this box, you're paying approximately $6.13 per item.

Disappointing. I was in a Sanrio store the other day and there are so many Hello Kitty things like tote bags, t-shirts, slippers, cosmetics, mugs and water bottles…what a shame they didn’t put out more effort for this box.

There is such a variety of hello kitty items available that it is amazing they have so many repeat items in just a few months. Disappointing!
