Mommy Mailbox July 2018 Review

Each box comes with a card detailing the month’s products and brands. The theme this month is “Rest and Relaxation” and the box was curated by featured blogger, Krista Brusso.

Blue Gem Sunglasses - Estimated Value $25.00 (Based on their total assortment since I was unable to locate the exact pair!)

I love the idea of receiving sunglasses in a box because as they said on the card, you can never have too many! Unfortunately, these were way too round for me. I love that they have metal arms and fit comfortably on my large head, but I felt like a fly wearing them. I'll keep them for emergency backups or pass them along to a friend!

Manna Kadar Eyeconic False Lashes - Retail Value $8

Wow, these lashes! They are definitely some statement lashes with that length. I can't really see myself using these for anything other than Halloween though! I'm also not quite sure how well they fit into the rest and relaxation theme.

Manna Kadar Prime Time - Retail Value $24.00

It says this primer can be used for both lips and eyes. I actually ended up using this as an undereye concealer and while the formula is a bit cakey, it blended well and worked to cover my circles helping me to at least look well rested and relaxed! I think this will be a great backup concealer for me to keep in my car or purse for those moments when I need to look refreshed since I already have another concealer I prefer!

Caboose Old No. 1 Seasoning and BBQ Rub 1 oz. - Estimated Value $3.00 (Buy a 4 oz bag for $11.99)

This seasoning seemed more like an Asian seasoning to me for some reason. I think it was the fennel, anise and black pepper that really stood out to me. It tastes exactly like it says- tangy and sweet with a little bit of heat. We will definitely be using this up! They actually say you can use it in apple pie. I'm not scared to try new things in the kitchen, so I might just give it a whirl!

Sailor Paper Company Notepad - Retail Value $9.00

How cute is this notepad? It's just a simple pad, no magnet on the back or anything, but this watermelon design is adorable! I remember the days when my beach packing list was simple enough to just fit on one of these pages. Now it seems like I could probably fill the whole pad! I'm always happy to have an extra notepad around for jotting things down, so this was a great summer box item for me.

Verdict: This month’s Mommy Mailbox theme was Rest and Relaxation and I'm not quite sure I felt that with the items in the box. I liked the primer, bbq rub, and notepad, but definitely could have done without the false eyelashes. The sunglasses are a great idea, but I wish the shape was a little bit more flattering! Overall, I'm feeling kind of meh about this box, since it definitely didn't have enough items to really give me that feeling of R and R like it was supposed to. The box costs $33.95 and I estimate the value to be about $69, which is still fair, but not quite worth it to me this month. How are you all feeling about July's box? I'm curious!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I was wondering why there were no spoilers for July on Mommy Mailbox until I received my box then I realized why. No one would have bought it.

I’m not feeling like that notepad’s worth $9. Looks like something you can get in target’s dollar section for $3 at the most, especially since the quality of it doesn’t look that great

I usually love this box, but not this month. My favorite item was the note pad that I could easily pick up at the dollar store. Boo!

You’re supposed to trim false lashes to be the right size for you. I guess if you aren’t used to wearing them you wouldn’t know that.

I have been a long time subscriber and this is probably my least favorite box ever from them. I’m unsure if the “featured blogger” actually does the curation, though.

The link on those sunglasses is for a wholesale site. Doesn’t really seem fair to use the wholesale value instead of the retail value. I think they are super cute!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I have updated the review to reflect the retail site and price! 🙂

“Oh look, Manna Kadar, YAY!!”—said no one, EVER. 😉 Mommy Mailbox seems to be very hit or miss for me…and unfortunately this box is a huge miss for me. Sending cheapo-o $4 sunglasses…really? I’ve been debating whether to continue with MM or not but I think this box puts the nail in the coffin for me.

This Box was the deciding factor for me to cancel. Such a disappointment! And really, how do falsies and bbq rub equal relaxation?

Brandi

Definitely not relaxing, but we did put the rub on some chicken last night and grilled it and it was delicious! Doesn’t quite make up for the rest of the box though. 😉

Wow, this box is awful! How did they approve that to go out?! This not only didn’t fit the theme but the items were just…. I’m so sorry to say but… junk…. two Manna Kadar items?? $4 sunglasses?? Actually I’ve seen nicer ones at dollar tree! Very disappointing, this box used to be pretty good, hope they actually try next month….

I feel the same way about this one. Meh! It reminded me of the Peaches & Petals Box where they toss in random items. This one seemed like that. I don’t see the R&R theme at all. Like the glasses though!

Anna

If the theme was warehouse clean out these would be more appropriate items. I expect relaxation items in a box themed as such, a candle, bath bomb or salts, sleep spray or even a cozy throw.

Brandi

Lol. Even just one of those items would have helped!
