MommyCrates July 2018 Review
July’s theme is Space! When I opened my box this neat little pamphlet was right on top.
It provided weather-related Safety Tips, information on the upcoming eclipse and celestial events and a summary of the birth of MommyCrates recently established.
The pamphlet also listed what was included in July box and even included a bonus! A recipe for Moon Sand!
Now, on to the items!!
Solar System 3D Puzzle – Retail Value $19.99
My MommyCrate included an out-of-this-world Solar System 3D Puzzle.
The puzzle pieces are cardboard style that required to be punched out.
It is best to not punch out each piece before building as they are only labeled on the cardboard and not on the piece itself.
The puzzle did have directions, but they are only numbered to match the numbers on the carboard in which you punch the pieces out of. We started at the top, with Mercury (A) and punched out the pieces as we built. This system worked very well and allowed us to build a beautiful solar system!
With our system in place, it took us about 90 minutes to complete the entire puzzle.
It was such a cool accomplishment and something we are all very proud of! This was a family project and really brought out some team building skills within us.
Astronaut Neapolitan Ice Cream Sandwich – Retail Value $5.99
Our next item was an Astronaut Ice Cream Sandwich. We got the Neapolitan flavor – a family favorite! I did note that the package was torn a bit as soon as we opened it up.
The kids were really eager to try this out, especially since we had just finished our non-astronaut Neapolitan ice cream sandwiches days ago! Once opened, it broke immediately. I am pretty gentle, so this is just a sensitive product. (Beware of the crumbs!)
As soon as I picked it up, though, it completely fell apart. It didn’t affect the taste though:
Verdict 1, Jayden age 10: “Mmmm! This is really good! It tastes like a marshmallow.”
Verdict 2, Bella age 7: “Hmm…it's not really, really good, and it's not bad. It's good.”
Verdict 3, me (mom): I tasted a little bit of the vanilla. It dissolved in my mouth right away and had a true vanilla flavor. I do prefer my ice cream cold though. Even though I would not reach for an Astronaut ice cream sandwich, I enjoyed the opportunity to try it. I have always wanted to try space-ice cream.
Conclusion: Jayden ended up eating the whole thing in a matter of minutes.
Saturn and Moons Vinyl Sticker – Retail Value $9.99
Our next item was this Saturn & Moons Vinyl decal. It also came with the business magnet of the creator in case I want more like products. It’s a neat little addition to the box and can be applied on pretty much anything. We are still looking for the perfect spot for it.
Kid's T-Shirt
The last kid-item in my July MommyCrates was this awesome t-shirt! I was unable to locate this product in the MommyCrates store to get an average price on it. It is a 100% heavy cotton t-shirt that has a cute piggy-pun.
Jayden couldn’t wait to wear it! He is a size 10-12 so I ordered a size large; it was true to size and fit perfectly.
Space Shimmer Lip Balm – Retail Value $5.99
On to the just for mom items! I love that MommyCrates offers mom-only products. The first item was this Space Shimmer Lip Balm. Made with all-natural ingredients, it applied lightly had left such a moisturizing feel for hours. It is lemon mint flavored with a very light scent.
Neptune Gummy Bear Bath Bomb – Retail Value $11.99
My other mommy item was this Neptune Gummy Bear Bath Bomb. As soon as I opened my box, I was hit with the sweet scent of this bath bomb. It was the best smelling bath bomb I have ever come across! It was sweet but not overly sweet. The bath bomb dissolved in my bath quickly, turning my waters a beautiful sea green. It wasn’t overly oily like other bath bombs I use and favor and the scent lingered through my entire bath. Definitely a favorite product!
Verdict: This was a pretty neat box! In the past, I have only subscribed to boxes just for me, so it was neat to get something that my husband and kids got to participate in and enjoy. I also really like that the MommyCrates store offers everything in the box for sale, in case I want more of those bath bombs! Even though MommyCrates is a new subscription, I do think it will be a successful one and I hope it is around for a while.
I got six items, all but the t-shirt sold in the store for a combined value of $53.95. A month to month subscription costs $35.00, including free shipping, so we came out on top!
