Tutiibag June 2018 Review

About Miss Tutii TutiiBag

The Subscription Box: Miss Tutii TutiiBag

The Cost: $16.95/month + free US shipping. Save with 6 and 12-month prepaid subscriptions.

Good to know: Charges for TutiiBag recently started coming from Ontario, so you may also get a foreign transaction fee (mine is 40 cents but that depends on the bank) if you are in the US. For what it’s worth, though new subscriptions cost $16.95, I’ve been a subscriber for awhile and am still getting charged $15 per month.

The Products: 4-5 full-size or deluxe samples of popular skincare products, masks, and other beauty items from Asia!

Ships to: U.S. (free), Canada ($5.95), International ($10.95)

Tutiibag June 2018 Review

You usually get a pretty good mix of different skincare items and tools and sometimes a makeup item with this subscription. One sheet mask is also typically included:

The bag came with this information card. It didn’t actually have any product details and I really could’ve used some for some of the items.

Laneige Time Freeze Sleeping Mask (10 mL)

Laneige Time Freeze Sleeping Mask (10 mL) – Estimated Value $6.50 (Buy 60 mL for $39)

This is a really thick mask that is just the texture I like to use for a nighttime moisturizer. This has a ton of silicones in it. Those don’t often work for my skin, but they did this time. This also has collagen peptides, so it is not vegan (collagen can only come from animal sources), but it is not tested on animals. There are some other unusual ingredients here, like an air plant extract, which I guess is probably good for drawing and holding on to moisture. The scent, if there is one, isn’t very strong, which is honestly for the best (in my opinion – I like facial skincare products to be unscented).

Laneige Time Freeze Essence EX (5 mL)

Laneige Time Freeze Essence EX (5 mL) – Estimated Value $7.52 (buy 40 mL for $60.18, found here for $48.15)

You will often get two items from the same product line in this subscription but I am cool with that, especially when they are two relatively expensive products. I had totally been slacking in my skincare routine because I’ve been sick for like three weeks, and my skin is starting to show some issues. All I can say for this so far is that it is very light and absorbs quickly and does not cause any irritation. Also, you don’t need a lot of this to cover your whole face, so this sample should last me awhile. I thought this worked nicely when used before the sleeping mask.

Monster Oil in Cleansing Water (25 mL) – Estimated Value $0.98 (buy 300 mL for $11.75 or found here for $5.85)

Due to the lack of instructions provided with this subscription, I really had no idea how to use this. I took a chance based on the name and put some of this on a cotton pad, then tried taking off heavy face makeup. And guess what? It worked, really, really well. (Turns out my guess was right, anyway.) I did use a second pad to make sure I got everything but I am now definitely a fan of this product.

Too Cool for School On the Move Quick Shower Body Wipe – Retail Value $0.93 (found here for $0.74)

I am actually saving this for future use. I work out at home and shower right after, so there’s not a great opportunity in my day-to-day life to see how this works, but it is really hot and humid where I live right now and this fits nicely into my purse in case I get a little icky when I am out and about. It is a good item for summer, I think.

Borntree Natto Gum Mask

Borntree Natto Gum Mask – Estimated Value $1.85 (buy 10 masks for $18.52; found here for $5.56)

So, this is the same mask they sent us last month. That is the first time I think I’ve ever received a repeat product from this subscription. Anyway, my opinion hasn’t changed so here is a copy-paste of what I said last time: This has a pleasant scent that reminds me of something from my childhood (I just can’t, for the life of me, think of what it is). Natto is a fermented soybean product that is high in a particular amino acid polymer that holds on to a lot of water (which means it brings water to the surface of your skin when applied – this is a good moisturizer). Other than that, this was a pretty standard sheet mask experience; it wasn’t too drippy, nor was it too dry, and there were no novelty aspects (i.e., no animal faces or bubbles or anything strange like that).

Verdict: I calculated a total value of $17.78 for the June 2018 TutiiBag. As usual, take the prices quoted above with a grain of salt. Prices vary widely for these items depending on whether you buy from a US-based seller or straight from Korea, and many of the items have vastly different prices on Amazon, eBay, etc. In general, I am pretty sure I’ve used both sources with low prices and high shipping charges, and sources with high prices and free shipping, in the links above, plus many of these items are not available in the sample sizes received, so providing a total might not be all that accurate. At any rate, I would say this package had the number and type of products I would expect (one sheet mask, some varied skincare products, and the like). I was a little disappointed to get a repeat sheet mask (although at least it was a mask I like!) but the performance and value of the Laneige products made up for that a little bit.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first shipment would be July's. Also, please note that this is the “oily/acne” combo (selected at sign-up) and if you choose a different skin type, some of your items may vary.

Value Breakdown: At $16.95 for this subscription, you’re paying approximately the following:

  • Sleeping mask: $6.20
  • Essence: $7.18
  • Oil in cleansing water: $0.93
  • Shower wipe: $0.89
  • Sheet mask: $1.76

Alternatively, you’re paying about $3.39 per item.

There are vegan sources of collagen. There are masks that contain it. But since collagen is too big to be absorbed by the skin anyway you’re better off taking supplements rather than masks for it.
