Meowbox July 2018 Review
Meowbox has a lot of exclusive toys that are usually pretty popular with my cats. From my perspective, it’s nice to see some things that don’t turn up in other cat subscription boxes:
The information card typically just gives a URL for finding out more information about the items in the box. The picture is adorable, as usual. This month had a beach/summer/BBQ theme.
Sneaky Seagull Toy – Retail Value $5.99
I think this toy is funny because the seagull stole a hot dog. My cats are mostly interested in the rope legs. I guess that is a win from both perspectives. (This is a sturdy, small-to-medium, catnip plush.)
Handmade Beach Bucket Toy from The Empurrium – Retail Value $4.99
This is felt with no stuffing (but a lot of catnip, which you can sort of see through the yellow part). The shovel got pulled off in about a second of Angus playing with it, but he still enjoys the bucket part quite a bit.
Purrtato Chips – Retail Value $4.99
This is a small toy that is good for tossing. It has a crinkly filling (and catnip of course). My cats and I like the variety of textures – the ruffle details on the potato chips are pretty fun.
Burger Bouncer – Retail Value $5.99
I think this thing has an adorable face (the facial expressions on Meowbox toys are usually pretty great). My cats liked the feather on the end (well, and Sneaky liked the elastic cord it was attached to – this is a finger dangler type of toy).
Vital Cat Essentials Freeze Dried Duck Liver (0.9 oz) – Retail Value $4.99 (found here for $4.49)
Usually, I don’t like getting freeze-dried meat in cat subscription boxes but I make an exception for duck liver. Because that is about the only treat that Mr. Kitty is able to eat. This is a little harder than he is used to (he has bad teeth, in addition to all his other problems) but he made it work. Sneaky also ate this.
Kitty photos!
Angus plays with the burger toy properly.
Angus also liked the bucket, even after he ripped off the shovel.
Madison licked the treats. He wasn’t a huge fan though.
Madison investigates the burger.
Madison with the seagull.
Monkey rubs his chin on things.
Monkey is skeptical of the treats. (Grrr, the camera focused on my fingers instead of Monkey’s face…)
Sneaky with claws out!
I suppose these pictures are a little repetitive. But he was just SO HAPPY.
And here is where I pose Mr. Kitty with toys.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $26.95 for the July Meowbox. That is a reasonable amount over the cost of the subscription for a cat subscription box. The toys were popular with my crew this month and Mr. Kitty could actually eat the treats, which totally makes those worthwhile as well.
