Gramma In a Box July 2018 Review

This card described the candy and cookie projects for this month. On the back, it listed the contents of the box as well as a list of items that you would need from home. It also mentioned that the two sheets of included wax paper were to be used as placemats to make for easy cleanup. I love how festive this month's box is!

Project #1: Sparkler Dipped Cookies

The first candy project was sparkler dipped cookies. Each recipe comes on its own card with the ingredients listed on the back. They are always labeled in the order that you should make them so everything is well- planned out and easy to follow.

The first step was to melt our white chocolate wafers in a bowl and stir them until melted.

Next, I dipped the end of the cookies in the chocolate and placed them on the wax paper and my daughter decorated them quite generously with sprinkles. This really didn't take long since there were only six cookies. Once we finished we let them set while we moved on to project 2.

Project #2: Golden Bites

Our second project were Golden Bites made with white chocolate, peanuts, and pretzels.

I added the peanuts to the leftover chocolate from project 1 and stirred them in while my daughter separated the pretzels into cups.

Next, I added a drop of the mixture to the top of each pretzel and my daughter added some sprinkles. This was my favorite treat from our box this month! I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, but they were delicious!

Project #3: Patriotic Cookie Decorating

The last activity was the cookie decorating. They included 8 cookies and three bags of icing in red, white and blue. My daughter always enjoys this part and can get pretty creative. This month, she wasn't quite as engaged and instead was just globbing icing on her cookies. That's what I get for trying to fit in an activity just before naptime!

We always have plenty of extra icing leftover despite the fact that my daughter went overboard with the icing!

I think our finished projects turned out great and looked very patriotic indeed. In the end, we had 20 finished projects: 6 sparkler cookies, 6 pretzel bites, and 8 cookies. There is a cookie missing here because my son never quite makes it long when decorating before he starts eating them!

I always appreciate the individual recipe cards for each project because they are easy to save and use again if we find one that we really like!

I love how easy clean up is each month. I literally just put all of the empty containers and papers into the box that it ships in and throw it in the recycle bin. After a quick wipe up, I get to spend that time enjoying some treats with the kids instead of doing dishes! Overall, we took about 20 minutes to complete all three projects, which was just enough time to get creative and build up the excitement of when we got to taste our treats!

Verdict: Gramma In A Box is always so well organized with well thought out projects and step by step directions. It feels very homemade, yet they always make sure to include important ingredient and allergen information.

The box costs $20 per month, which seems like a lot for what we received this month, but the real value is in the time that I get to spend with my kids being creative without any stress. My daughter gets excited when this box comes each month and we have a bit of a routine going now. It's becoming a special tradition to spend some time doing an activity together that I don't have to plan for, shop for, or really do any sort of clean up for. It allows me to be in the moment just a bit more, which is so important when you realize how fast your babies are growing up!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Order before the 3rd of the month to get that month’s box. From Gramma in a Box:

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
