Cuddle Crate is a monthly subscription box for pets. You can opt for a dog box (choose your dog size), a cat box, or a small animal box (select gerbil/hamster or rabbit/guinea pig). You can also combine pet types with higher tier subscriptions (i.e., get a combined cat/rabbit box) and opt for a bi-monthly box if monthly is too often for you.

This review is of the Bronze Level Cat subscription for $29.95 a month.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Cuddle Crate June 2018 Review

Cuddle Crate typically sends out a variety of toy types as well as (usually) one package of treats if you have the single pet type option selected. Let’s see what the cats got this month:

They’ve moved away from an information card listing the items in the box and instead are directing you to a URL where you can look up more information about the items.

Petstages Britain Kitten Value Pack

Petstages Britain Kitten Value Pack – Retail Value $6.99

These are technically kitten toys, according to the manufacturer, but my older cats seemed interested as well. The tea bag one was particularly popular (the string and tag parts, especially) and Angus has already knocked the ball under a piece of furniture. (Someday I am going to clean out under there and find SO MUCH STUFF.)

Fuzzu Radioactive Splatter Bugs – Retail Value $3.99

I am not sure what this is made of although the website linked to above says the materials are non-toxic, which is good because Sneaky has been eating pieces of the legs of this thing. It is made from some stiff type of fabric and has a little catnip in the head/body.

Petstages Magic Boomerang Buddy Cat Toy – Retail Value $6.99 (found here for $5.61)

I actually thought this was a banana at first. It doesn’t really matter what it is, though. What matters is that the kitties thought it was awesome. I guess because it was enclosed in plastic, the oil in the catnip didn’t have a chance to evaporate, so it was super strong. This was the clear winner among the toys this month.

Petstages Catnip Troll –

Petstages Catnip Troll – Retail Value $5.99

There wasn’t a ton of interest in this toy the day I was taking pictures, but since then, it has moved across the bedroom floor and someone has started removing its hair (I’ve found little clumps on the bedroom carpet). So it is getting played with.

Emerald Pet Feline Dental Treats in Chicken (3 oz) – Retail Value $3.99

I get a bag of these at least once a month. These are actually the same treats I got last month from Cuddle Crate. They are crunchy treats which are supposed to help clean your cats’ teeth as they chew. Sneaky and Madison eat these and Angus chews them to bits and leaves the wet bits on the carpet…

Here are your kitty pictures:

Angus pretends to eat treats. (I had to clean wet treat bits off the carpet.)

Angus licks his lips while playing with the tea bag toy.

Close-ups of Madison eating treats. Good thing he had a tooth cleaning at the vet a few months ago.

Here is where I pose Madison with toys. He was not amused.

Monkey investigates the treats. (He didn’t eat them. He doesn’t often want treats.)

Monkey investigates the boomerang toy.

I don’t remember if I ended up bleeding from this or not.

Sneaky absolutely loved the boomerang toy.

Mr. Kitty with the boomerang toy. In the second picture, you can see that he is licking it.

Here, he investigates the tea bag toy. Yay for open-eye pictures! (His chin is dirty because he still wears the cone most of the time, I just took it off for photos. We clean him with wipes but there is only so much wipes can do.)

Verdict: I calculated a value of $27.95 for the June Cuddle Crate for cats subscription box. That is a few dollars below the cost of the box. You can get a little better deal by signing up for a longer subscription, of course, and the mixed-pet subscription options may have a little more value as well. I ended up being happy with the box, though, because my cats enjoyed everything and no item was completely ignored. The boomerang (banana!) was a particular favorite, and most of the toys were new to us.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the July box. Also, there is some customization involved, especially for the multi-pet boxes, so there may be some variation even among May boxes.
