Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Clubs are the original beading subscription boxes (they’ve been around since 2000). Choose from “Hot and Trendy” beads, “2-Hole Beads,” “Superduos,” “11/0 Delicas,” “11/0 Seed Beads,” “Swarovski crystals,” or a rotating club where you get a different selection each month. The cost varies depending on the club selected and whether you choose the single or double club.

This is a review of the 11/0 Delicas of the Month Club, which is $24.95/month.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Adornable Elements Beads of the Month July 2018 Review

About Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Club

The Subscription Box: Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Club

The Cost: $24.95/month. Save a bit more with the double clubs.

The Products: 5 grams each of 8 different colors of Miyuki Delica beads (Delicas are very regular cylindrical-shaped seed beads)

Good to know: I actually subscribe to several of these clubs and they all come in the same package (that’s why the box is so big). I’m going to do a rotation with these reviews so you’ll see something a little different each month. Also, please note that you can cancel or add clubs by calling, emailing, or using the contact form on their website.

Ships to: US, cost varies depending on the number of clubs subscribed to (shipping is $4.50 for one club; refer to their FAQ for shipping costs for additional clubs)

Adornable Elements Beads of the Month July 2018 "Mulberry Lane" Review

With this subscription, you receive a selection of Miyuki Delicas in coordinating colors each month:

The package came with a list of the beads included as well as retail values. Note: I am using the retail values from this list. They seem reasonable to me, plus it is pretty much impossible to find each color from the same online shop, let alone the same exact package size, so things like quantity discounts are not going to apply here. This month’s theme is “Mulberry Lane .” (For what it’s worth, I really think the colors fit the themes and go together nicely with these subscriptions.)

Transparent Cobalt AB

Transparent Cobalt AB – Listed Value $3

These are pictured in little dishes because they are tiny and I didn’t want to pick them up off a cloth afterward! Anyway, this is a pretty classic finish and I used a few of these in a bracelet this month.

Transparent Dark Cranberry AB

Transparent Dark Cranberry AB – Listed Value $3

I also used some of these. One thing I liked about the theme this month was it was possible to do a rainbow of really subtle color variations, which worked well with the pattern I chose. (See a few pictures below.)

Transparent Cobalt Luster

Transparent Cobalt Luster – Listed Value $3

I didn’t end up using these, this time around (I only needed five colors) but I do think they are quite pretty and am sure I will have an idea for them soon.

Garnet Lined Ruby AB – Listed Value $3

These are unusual. I love the different look depending on whether you are staring at the top of the cylinder or looking at the side. These could take on a lot of different looks depending on how you chose to use them.

Transparent Mauve AB

Transparent Mauve AB – Listed Value $3

I used some of these in my bracelet this month, as well. These will forever be burned into my brain as “color 4” in the pattern I used! I still have a few left and this color matches the color palette I’ve been working with lately pretty well.

Metallic Midnight Blue Gold Iris

Metallic Midnight Blue Gold Iris – Listed Value $4.50

These looked really interesting in my bracelet. I was going for slight color gradation, but using some differences in bead finish added another level of dimension.

Metallic Dark Copper Gold Iris

Metallic Dark Copper Gold Iris – Listed Value $4.50

I didn’t end up using this color but one reason is that this will be about the easiest color to match with other things in my stash. Also, I feel it is good to have a nice collection of metallic-look beads as they can be made to match most other sets of colors.

Matte Metallic Plum Gold Iris – Listed Value $5

I used these as well. I am a fan of the matte metallic finish and coupling it with the iris finish was a nice added touch.

Here is a bracelet I made. I wanted to try using carrier beads. This is a pattern adapted from a Bead and Button magazine from a few months back. (The white delicas are from my stash. I needed something with a bit more contrast than the colors from the box provided to make this pattern work.) I’m going to have to rework a few things here, as this turned out about a half inch too short for me to actually wear. I think re-stringing with some goldtone accent beads and maybe a few jump rings should add enough length for it to work. I’m going to wait for my double-sided tape to come in from Bello Modo, though, because the peyote strips are coming off the carrier beads. (I’m not being too hard on myself, this is my first attempt to use carrier beads and I think it turned out all right.)

Verdict: I calculated a value for the July 2018 11/0 Delicas of the Month Club of $29. This is just shy of the cost of the box plus shipping, which is usually the case for this subscription. I save on shipping because I get three clubs (I just review one per month) and you can also save a little more by going for the double clubs.

I think my favorite thing about the colors this month is how well they can be made to work together to subtly shift from blues to pinks in a strip (as you can kind of see with the bracelet). Well, that and the vibrant, darker colors (I’m not such a fan of pastels). This is a great club for building your stash of Delicas, especially if you like to either make a lot of small projects or if you like to make complicated patterns involving a ton of different colors.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Yes, in my experience you’ll get your first shipment shortly after you sign up, and then this ships early in the month after that.

Value Breakdown: At $29.45 (including shipping) for this box, you are paying about $3.68 per item.

Ragan, your bead reviews are becoming some of my favorites on MSA. Even though I don’t bead, the thoroughness of your reviews, the little bits of bead trivia/history and of course, the reveal of your always-stunning finished projects make for really enjoyable reading.
