The Better Beauty Box June 2018 Review

Instead of including a stand-alone info sheet, the information about the products in the box are on a sticker that’s placed on the lid of the box.

Ecco Bella Lip Liner in Terracotta, Full-Size!

Ecco Bella Lip Liner in Terracotta, Full-Size! Retail Value $17.95

This lipliner is creamy and easy to apply, which would have been a big change from the makeup I was used to using when I was a young teenager (I am so glad the days of pointy and hard lip and eyeliners are over). This is a great nude color, which I know would have had Mama Hapak’s seal of approval.

Andalou Naturals Shower Gel In Uplifting Citrus Sunflower, 1.7 oz

Andalou Naturals Shower Gel In Uplifting Citrus Sunflower, 1.7 oz - Retail Value $1.99

Andalou Naturals is a brand that was introduced to me through the April box, so I was happy to try a different product.  The first ingredient on the list is Aloe and not water, so I knew this was going to be hydrating and soothing. The citrus scent is so refreshing, and overall this was a gentle yet effective shower gel. This also goes perfectly with the shower pouf included this month!

Live Beautifully Lip Balm Jelly in Blueberry Crumble,

Live Beautifully Lip Balm Jelly in Blueberry Crumble, Full-Size! Retail Value $6.50, Listed Value $6

For some reason, my lips are always drier and chapped during the summer than the winter, so I am happy to see this lip balm! This lip balm jelly is supposed to be similar to the consistency of petroleum jelly, however, I believe mine melted at some point and never regained that consistency—mine has the viscosity of water. I don't mind, as I am able to use a little bit to hydrate all of my lips and the lip balm still does its job even though the texture may have changed. The blueberry crumble scent reminds me of fresh baked blueberry pie, and it is really nice.

Om Botanicals Clear Skin Solution, 1.2 oz - Retail Value $36

Wow, this is some expensive skincare! This solution is formulated with organic plants and does not contain benzoyl peroxide or other petrochemicals or synthetic compounds. I am not completely positive on what a petrochemical is, but I am always interested in trying out skincare products for my acne-prone skin. I am currently battling a tough hormonal breakout, and I was hopeful that this would help. Interestingly enough when this comes out of the container it is a muddy brown! Once rubbed into my skin, however, it is clear and it doesn’t sting or burn. I do feel like this is helping my acne fade quicker, so I am excited to have this to fight future breakouts. This would have been desperately needed when I was younger—my acne was HORRIBLE.

Ecotools Dual Cleansing Pad,

Ecotools Dual Cleansing Pad - Retail Value $3.99

I am always down to receive more shower poufs, and this is an interesting one! I like that it has a regular pouf on one side with the other side being more exfoliating. The handle also makes it easy to hold without it slipping from my fingers.

The Verdict: This was another great month from The Better Beauty Box! All of the products were hits for me, and I am especially happy to receive a full-sized, ingredient-conscious skincare item! I calculated a value of $66.43, which I think is great for an ingredient-conscious beauty box designed for teenagers!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up today your first box will be the July box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $24 with free shipping, and I calculated a value of $66.43. That means you’re paying approximately the following for each item:

  • Lip Liner: $6.50
  • Shower Gel: $0.72
  • Lip Balm: $2.34
  • Acne Solution: $12.99
  • Ecotools Shower Pouf: $1.44

I tried to purchase the special birthday box from this company then start a subscription for my daughter, I was so excited about it when I ordered. Unfortunately the very first box never came and Better Beauty Box says they can’t do anything about it. Won’t send another box or refund my money. I have never had such terrible customer service from anyone. They even deleted my post from their Facebook page so as not to show any bad reviews, they are only allowing their 5 star reviews to show. Very shady company in my opinion.

You imply that we did not mail your box to you. We did, and we received confirmation of delivery from the postal service. You also imply that we did nothing in an attempt to resolve this for you, which is not true.

I didn’t imply anything. I stated the facts, the first box never came and you won’t send another box or refund my money. That statement alone, “send ANOTHER box” negates what you just said, read the words written. The only two options for resolution are to send another box or refund, but you won’t do either, so no you haven’t resolved this. You only told me to contact USPS, which won’t get me my box or money so not really helpful. Then you actually suggested I waste another $45 by buying another box from you! That was hilarious. The fact that you have deleted my post on your facebook page and hidden my disappointed review tells me even more about your business practices. Makes me wonder how many other bad reviews and disappointed customer comments you have deleted in the past.

I know this box is for teens and I am in my mid 30s but it looks great. Nothing sparkling and cheesy.

You should use a lip balm with SPF in it, My mom griped until I did and it helps.

Petrochemicals are petroleum-derived ingredients, which all essentially come from crude oil (at least to start, but they are generally refined a ton).

And great review! That blueberry balm sounds yummy!

KatyL

So that means it’s natural!

If it’s refined and processed, it’s no longer “natural” in a sense that you wouldn’t find that chemical in nature.
