Stitch Fix for Women June 2018 Review
My box included this card advertising their gift cards. I do think this makes a fun gift so it’s great that they have this option!
This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $206, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $134.50. That’s a savings of $71.50 on these items.
This is my style sheet that includes a note from my stylist and features the five items I received along with different outfit suggestions and accessories that might pair well with them. This month I received someone else’s Stitch Fix, which customer service was quick to rectify by refunding my styling fee and sending out a new fix immediately. I had already previewed what I was receiving from the first shipment, but since my items got sent to someone else, they sent me an entirely new selection of items, which is what you’ll see here. I was a little disappointed because the first option had a few items I was looking forward to trying, but I think that my stylist did a great job of trying to meet my needs for outfits I can nurse in.
Fergie Cold Shoulder Wrap Top by Collective Concepts, Size L - Cost to Keep $58 (Return)
I apologize for the scandalous picture, but this top did not fit over my chest at all! My awkward pose is me trying to make myself smaller so that the little button at the chest didn’t pop open again during the picture. I was not expecting to like this shirt, but it was actually really cute! All of the details like the ruffle sleeves and the tie around the waist made it feel super feminine and flirty to me. My stylist chose this because it was nursing friendly, and if it had fit me, then it might have been perfect!
Carlie Off the Shoulder Brushed Knit Maxi Dress by Nine Britton, Size L - Cost to Keep $58 (Return)
This dress was another option for nursing since the off the shoulder sleeves could easily be pulled down. I think the dress looks more flattering in the pictures than it did in person, it just did not flatter my shape at all. It was really soft and I thought the pattern was pretty - I loved the navy blue and I loved the idea of this long flowy dress. In reality, though, it felt like so much fabric with the long length and the large ruffle at the top. The dress was well made and would be really cute on someone else, but it was just not for me.
Dulce Cross Front Knit Top by Emory Park, Size L - Cost to Keep $28 (Return)
This shirt is the closest to my style - I love stripes and the color was so incredibly pretty. The material was soft and had a little bit of stretch to it so it was really comfortable to wear and it was casual enough that I could wear it anywhere. Unfortunately, I could just not get over those two little cross straps at the top! I don’t know why, but I just do not like that style and it always bugs me anytime I see it. They just look so out of place to me and I feel like they even contrast with the striped pattern of the shirt. I even considered keeping it and cutting them off, but if you look at the closeup of the neckline, there were already a lot of extra threads around the edges that made me nervous that it would create a hole if I tried!
Celestia Wrapped Circle Pendant by Romolo - Cost to Keep $28 (Keep)
I have never received jewelry in a Fix before and I was a little disappointed when I saw that I would be receiving this necklace, however, I ended up liking it a lot more than I expected. In fact, this was my favorite item this month! The necklace came wrapped in its own separate box and has a nice weight to it. I love the hammered look of the gold and that it has the rose gold/copper accents too. For some reason, it just feels like a perfect summer accent necklace to me. The necklace can adjust to multiple lengths and I like that I can style it for a more casual look or possibly pair it with a nicer dress for more of a statement.
Katara Crossfront Tank Top, Size L - Cost to Keep $34 (Return)
I love this shirt! The yellow color screams summer along with the beautiful floral design and flowy material. I love that the front is a little bit full to hide my post-baby belly and that the back of it is longer. What you can’t tell so much from the picture is that the front is really, really low cut. (I made the straps tighter and lifted it up just before the picture so you wouldn’t see too much!) I don’t think I could wear a bra with this one, which is a pretty big deal since I am nursing. Even if I could wear a bra, I’m not sure if I would feel comfortable wearing something so low cut. I tried pairing it with a cami underneath, and while this probably wasn’t the best cami to accent it, I thought it looked okay. But I think that having something underneath the shirt really takes away from the style and look of the shirt. Also, even though it is low cut, I still couldn’t nurse in it because of the way it is sewn together right in the middle of the chest making it difficult to pull down.
The Verdict: I really think my stylist tried to meet my needs as a nursing mother and provided me with some great options, but unfortunately they just didn’t work out for me. I’m so disappointed about that yellow shirt because it’s so pretty! I did have a good experience with customer service this month, which says a lot about a company. Even though I haven’t kept an entire Stitch Fix box yet, I always find at least one thing that I like and I really look forward to receiving them each month. It’s really fun to try things on in the convenience of your home and to have someone else pick them out for you. It’s incredibly convenient for me as a mother with 3 young children at home and since I always find at least one item that I end up keeping, I never lose out on my stylist fee, so really it’s like getting the boxes free each month!
