Lip Monthly May 2018 Review

This month, an info card is included with a theme and list of products included with their values.

Each month, Lip Monthly sends their lip products in a little makeup bag. This month’s bag is made of a blue and white stripe satin.

Manna Kadar Liplocked Priming Lipstick in Zen, 3.5g

Manna Kadar Liplocked Priming Lipstick in Zen, 3.5g - Retail Value $24

Wow, this is a pricey lipstick! I appreciate receiving a high-value item, but I don’t like this product. The shade is pretty in the tube and it’s supposed to be long-lasting because there is primer in the lipstick. But...

It applies thick and cakey and you can see a very obvious line inside of my lip. I can actually feel it when I press my lips together. I prefer lip products that feel weightless and smooth and that I don’t worry about all day.

Isabelle Dupont Matte Lipstick in M117

Isabelle Dupont Matte Lipstick in M117 - Listed Value $16

For as much as I didn’t like that last lipstick, I love this one! I can’t seem to find much about it online but I did link to the company’s site. This is a matte lipstick in the prettiest pinky red shade. It glides right on with smooth, opaque color and is thin and comfortable. It lasts forever too! After a few hours I like to dab some balm on my lips but this lipstick still hangs on. Once it settles in, it hardly transfers (it doesn’t even claim to be transfer-proof) and doesn’t bleed. Winner!

Laritzy Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Nudes, 3.1g

Laritzy Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Nudes, 3.1g - Retail Value $20

Oh, how I want to find a liquid lip that works for me! This one dries down to a non-tacky finish fast and truly is transfer proof, which is great. Within 5 minutes, my lips feel so tight and uncomfortably dry though. I do have super dry skin, so maybe this would work better for someone who has more oil. Applying a second coat did not work and created streaks and clumps. It’s probably best to totally remove the first layer and reapply if you need to.

Lord & Berry Brunette Magic Brow, .85g - Listed Value $21

The version of this pencil that’s sold online is the same product but has a spoolie brush on the other end. I really wish this one had that too. It’s just easier when you don’t have to carry another tool. Besides that, this pencil has a cool marbled lead that is supposed to help mimic the variations in color that individual hairs have. This shade is a little warm for my liking and I actually prefer a thin automatic pencil to fill in my brows. Plus, $21 seems a little steep for a regular wooden pencil. I’m definitely passing this on to a friend whos brows it will match better.

Verdict: Unfortunately, this month wasn’t great for me. I really do love the Isabelle Dupont lipstick so much, that I think it makes up for it. Lip Monthly is all about exploring new lip products and shades and some will be hit or miss. I typically find at least one product that I like which often carries a value higher than the $12.95 cost. If you like trying a random assortment of new lip products, and you want full-size, this may be worth a try.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up now, you’ll get next month’s box as your first box.

  • Isabelle Dupont Lipstick - $2.56
  • Laritzy Liquid Lip Color - $3.20

I received my first and second Lipmonthly bags and they are unheard of brands in bizarre colors. They don’t allow refunds or returns, so this stuff is going straight into the garbage. It’s really hard to cancel, too.

I’m really glad to see this reviewed again. They’ve been hitting my inbox pretty hard trying to get me to rejoin. I didn’t have any CS issues, and I got a few AWESOME shades. I guess I’ll see how the next month or three look. I wish there were a box of colorful makeup, kind of like So Susan Color Curate (which grew out of their Lip Love), but with lots of brands. I know I’m not the only one addicted to color!

I ordered a box from them, I believe I received the April box. It was ordered one day, and the next day I received an email stating that the amount of products would be decreasing by 1 to 4 total every month starting the next month.

It was no biggie as EVERY lip product was made in China, and I will not use Made in China cosmetics or skin care. ( Magnetic lashes are the current exception).

If you want cheap lip products from China ( or P.R.C. as they like to abbreviate) that might harm you, I guess that’s what you’ll still get with this sub.

I thought it was 4-5 lip products + 1 non lip product. Did they forget to put another item in your bag?

It is 4 lip and 1 non lip

I subbed to this last year for a few months and I received the worst products imaginable. I guess I was lucky that when I cancelled I didn’t have an issue but I have seen so many issues with people being billed and not receiving products and cancels not going through, so everyone should be very weary of this sub box. There are so many more to pick from that are a much better value. This is one to avoid.

If also like to throw this out into the universe: they did at one point over exaggerate value. And claim something was full sized and not. During that whole thing i ordered a blush at full price and it was a sample size. And i had to message the company to tell them. And then looked at other items and it was the same. This company is just super shady imo.

Ahhh. These bags are still 👎👎. I’m still pretty salty about a few years ago before they changed everything up on their website. I had uploaded a video review for points and they glitched (i didn’t know it was a glitch until i placed a point order and got the worst email from them). I logged in to find i had like 20,000 points. I assumed it was referrals since i plastered my link everywhere and at that point they didn’t tell you where the points came from. So i ordered a ton of lip products. And then got charged over 200$ and didn’t realize that until they emailed me so rudely. Stating i must have hacked their system to get that many points and how i was completely out of my depth. I was super confused. I’m a stay at home mom with ZERO computer training 🤣 then i received some email about a glitch and they then changed their website. No apology. Nothing. And it took me 5 months to get my money back because they never sent the items anyway. Every time i see a lip monthly review i get so nervous for them. Because they over charge, double even triple charge and don’t send bags.

Im sorry that happened to you.seems like they cant admit to their own mistakes so they like to make everyone else the bad guy. I dont like that they dont send you the same bag as everyone else the first month. I subscribed last month with a 5$ coupon and got a really crappy bag that they say are their “BEST OF” and that all first time subscribers get it. Im assuming bc most first time subscribers get a discount. Smh.
