Freshly Meal Delivery May 2018 Review

I received a list of the meals included in this month's box.

The 6 meals arrived in one big box – all surrounded by ice packs. The plastic seals on each meal were tight and sealed the food very well. Everything arrived in great condition and intact. I appreciated the recycling directions.

Steak Peppercorn with Sauteed Carrots & French Green Beans

Calories per Serving: 490

This meal was impressive. The meat was incredibly tender and had a great flavor. The vegetables were still crisp, but they were under seasoned. The potatoes were simple potatoes. This was our favorite meal.

Grilled Chicken Risotto with Spring Peas

Calories per Serving: 490

The chicken was actually incredibly tender, especially for reheated meat. The risotto had a nice flavor, especially with more salt and pepper. The green peas still popped. Very impressive.

Three Bean Ancho Turkey Chili

Calories per Serving: 540

The chili had decent flavor and was a big step above canned chili. It was definitely not as good as homemade, but it was still decent.

Cod Cakes with Spicy Chipotle Sauce and Succotash

Calories per Serving: 660

These Cod Cakes did not taste fishy, instead, the southwestern style sauce was the main flavor. They were perfectly cooked and easy to reheat. The vegetables on the side were decent. The potatoes were very bland.

Green Chile and Sausage Frittata

Calories per Serving: 430

This frittata and the Denver omelette were very similar. The eggs were still very fluffy and the cheese is the right cheesiness for the dish. This one wasn’t quite as good as the Denver omelette, it was missing a little flavor. But it still was very decent.

Denver Omelette with Cage-Free Eggs

Calories per Serving: 410

The omelette needed lots of seasonings. It was a very decent portion size for the average person. The eggs were very fluffy and the flavors after some salt and pepper were good. Overall, it was not mushy and was a decent omelette.

Verdict: I was impressed with Freshly. In only a couple minutes, we had a delicious meal that was healthy and filling– it’s a great way to have a quick meal without taking the time to prepare it yourself. It doesn't look appetizing in the packaging honestly, but after plating it and taking the first bite you forget about that. If you are busy, with no time to cook, but you want to eat healthily, then Freshly would be a great option for you.

We loveeee our Freshly subscription. In my opinion getting the breakfasts are a waste when you can get the steak for the same price.

We get the steak and the penne weekly, and rotate the rest. We don’t eat pork and are not bothered at all by eating the same meals again and again.

We had this service for several months and really loved it. The meals always came well packed and cold. We live in Texas so keeping things cold is a challenge. I was amazed at how juicy and tender the grilled chicken was especially being reheated. My kids liked almost everything. The ONLY reason we are not still getting these is because they don’t change selections often enough and we got tired of eating the same things. I’m sure we will go back in the fall when my kid’s band schedule makes it difficult to cook and eat together. The other thing that’s great is that everyone can eat something different since they’re single serving meals.

I have been having health issues and have gotten Freshly several times over the last few months. For frequent buyers, there really isn’t enough variety to sustain over the long term, but for dipping in and having something to eat with no fuss, this service has been wonderful. It’s is definitely worth a try, and I agree, the Steak Peppercorn is one of the best, along with the Pork options, a pecan crusted one that is off the rotation right now, and the peach sauce one. Customer service has also been above and beyond in my experience. To reduce costs, I have gotten the 12 meals and frozen them if needed while skipping the next week.
