outside of box

Daily Look Elite Box is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service similar to Stitch Fix, Wantable Style Edit, and Trunk Club. When you sign up, you take an in-depth survey about your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences. Your stylist handpicks items based on your preferences and they generally range from $50-$300.

peek inside box

Before your box ships, Daily Look Elite sends you a preview, where you can remove items and let them know why. You also have the option of looking through their website and favoriting items that they will consider adding to your boxes.

The fee for this service is $40, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $40 fee from the total. You can skip a month anytime.

Daily Look Elite Box June 2018 Review

info 1

info 2

info 4 and return label

Inside my box was an envelope with information, invoice, and a return bag. Inside the envelope was this letter from my stylist, Lisa. She notes a couple of the pieces sent and why they were chosen and how to style them.

info 5 packing slip

I also received a packing slip that lists each item and the price it would cost to keep each. I received a total of 7 items this month.

info 3

I also received a prepaid return label, bag, and instructions. You have five days to decide what you'd like to keep or return. Once I decided, I headed over to my online account to let Daily Look Elite know which items I'd be keeping vs. returning. It also gave me the opportunity to provide feedback on what I liked and disliked.

floral midi dress

J.O.A. Floral Maxi Dress, Size L - Cost to keep: $112

When I saw this print in my box, I was instantly in love! This "maxi" dress ends up being more tea-length on my 5'11" frame, but I actually still love the way the length falls. This pretty, light, floral print is just gorgeous. It's also lined so no worries about the white showing anything through. It also has a halter set of straps as well as a traditional set of straps, making this a very secure and flattering top. I would have shown you the back so you can see the strap detailing, but unfortunately, this dress had a deal breaker for me: I couldn't zip it up past my bust. I honestly would have kept this dress, but the bust was just not a fit for me, which is an obstacle I find somewhat often when dressing. I don't generally have a hard time finding tops that fit and I usually wear a size L in most brands, but depending on the fabric/design of certain items, the fit issue I usually run into is the bust. I kind of felt like crying when I packed this back up to return.

jumpsuit 1

jumpsuit 2

Wynona Off-Shoulder Jumpsuit, Size L - Cost to keep: $89

I can't believe I'm wearing a jumpsuit right now. I never thought I'd even want to try one on! But Hey, I don't actually hate it! I actually kind of love the idea of what it's supposed to look like. Unfortunately, my height - yet again - keeps this from fitting just right. It's supposed to be just a little flowy/drapey, but the torso is not long enough, causing the jumpsuit to pull taught in the top and in the crotch. Sigh. The length of the inseam is actually not too bad, though! So, this item got sent back as well, but it has definitely piqued my interest in maybe searching for just the right jumpsuit.

striped top 1

striped top 2

Michael Stars 3/4 Sleeve Striped Boat Neck Top, Size M/L - Cost to keep: $68

This top is really comfortable! The fabric is soft and has a good stretch to it and for as tight as it is on me (hello, post-partum insecurity) it actually felt pretty flattering. I really like this top, but my decision to return it was based on the fact that I actually already have a couple similar tops in my closet. At least that means that this fits my style! You do get a chance to see the items your stylist picks for you and reject any initially to be replaced before your box ships. So maybe I should have swapped this out before receiving my box, but I do like it so I didn't think to. I also felt like it was a little basic/easy to find comparable items for the price to keep it.

blue tank 1

blue tank 2

SL Helena Tie Back Top, Size L - Cost to keep: $68

Here, we have the same issue with fit in the bust. I'll need to let my stylist know that I probably need tops with some stretch or a more drapey/possibly oversized style. That being said, I liked this top. It felt high-quality, the design is flattering, I liked the tie back detail, and the color is beautiful. This would have been a keeper.

cardigan 1

cardigan 2

cardigan 3

Unexpected Waterfall Cardigan, Size L - Cost to keep: $89

This is the first item I kept! This cardigan is so soft and comfortable. The sleeves are ribbed, too. It drapes very flatteringly, and  I feel that the proportions work well for me. I've been looking to add a lighter-grey cardigan to my wardrobe already, so this is the one!

off the shoulder top

Cindy Off the Shoulder Tie Sleeve Top, size L - Cost to keep: $79

This is the second item I kept. Off-the-shoulder is trending this summer, so I'm happy to own my first off-the-shoulder top! I love how easy this top is to wear. I love wearing navy, and the fabric is lightweight and drapey - perfect for summertime. I'm looking forward to styling this with some white jeans and a sun hat!

white jeans

Just Black Uptown High-Waisted Super Skinny Jeans, Size 31 - Cost to keep: $78

Oh, look - white jeans with which to style my new off-the-shoulder top! Unfortunately, this pair didn't fit. These are "super skinny" jeans and unfortunately, they just were a little too super skinny on me. I've been steadily getting back down in size after just recently weaning my baby, but I just couldn't make these comfortably work right now. I am familiar with Just Black Jeans from Golden Tote, and I love their brand, and the fabric is soft, stretchy, and comfortable. I totally would have kept these, but for now, my stylist may need to stick to dresses/skirts for me for a few more weeks before I can get down one more jeans size!

Verdict: This was my first Daily Look Elite box, and I have mixed feelings, but I'm generally pleased with it. There were definitely several fit issues, but honestly, that is something I generally expect from the first box from a style subscription. The items ranged from being so me that I already owned something similar, to pushing me out of my comfort zone. The quality of each item was great, too. I kept the cardigan and the off-the-shoulder top, and I feel like the other items were things I *would* have kept, but now I know where the fitting traps may lie for me with their clothing and can communicate with my stylist about them to help pick better items in future months.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? You can sign up for your first month's box now, but your selections will look different than mine.

Value Breakdown: For $40 a month, I received seven styles that came to $583 in retail value. I can keep or return any of the pieces with free shipping both ways! If I do keep anything, the $40 styling fee will be deducted from my order.

Jumpsuits are tough for most people…

Elise

I have a long torso too so I have the same problem with jumpsuits & rompers! I always have to size up.

Too bad about the fit because that halter dress and jumpsuit looked stunning on you! Hopefully they carry something similar with better proportions!
