Stitch Fix for Women May 2018 Review
This month my box included this little card advertising their gift cards. I do think this makes a fun gift so it’s great that they have this option!
This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $256, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $172. That’s a savings of $84 on these items.
This is the included style sheet which includes a note from my stylist. This month, my Fix came from Kelli again. In my note to my stylist, I asked for a dress that I could nurse in since that is something that is really hard to find in stores! My stylist sent two dresses and a skirt, so she definitely came through on what I was looking for! The pictures on the style sheet feature each of the 5 items and show different outfit suggestions and accessories that might pair well with them.
Cristen Shirt Dress by 41 Hawthorn, Size XL - Cost to Keep $78 (Return)
I love the pattern of this dress and I also love that I could nurse in it. Even though it was a nicer material, this dress still had a casual feel with the buttons down the front. I love that the accents are gold like the buttons and the end of the tie. I didn’t think the dress was particularly flattering on me, but it was really comfortable and I could nurse in it. It is also really lightweight so it would probably be a great spring and summer dress, but I just could not justify the price tag. If it was a really nice dress for a specific occasion, then maybe, but as a casual everyday dress, it felt like too much. Especially considering I’m probably going to end up getting spit up on while wearing it. Eek!
Amandine Knit Dress by Kaileigh, Size XL - Cost to Keep $48 (Keep)
This dress was exactly what I was looking for. It is super soft, lightweight, comfortable and the top pulls down so I can easily nurse in this. The bottom is flowy and I could twirl in it- which is the only thing my daughter cared about. The material will easily wipe clean, which is important with my kids, and it was the perfect length for spring and summer. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the pattern, but that’s because I really don’t wear red much. Since everything else was great, I was willing to overlook it this time- especially since it’s just a little bit of red. I feel like the fit is pretty flattering, which is really saying something considering I’m 5 weeks post-partum at the moment, and not too much fits comfortably yet!
Abrienne Split Neck Cap Sleeve Knit Top by Daniel Rainn, Size XL - Cost to Keep $54 (Return)
This shirt was really cute and comfortable, but looking at the pictures, it is definitely not very flattering on me. I love the color with the polka dots and stripes- it is definitely my style. Unfortunately, the slit at the neckline didn’t go down very far meaning it wasn’t a nursing friendly top. Normally I would just wear a cami under and lift the shirt, but this one wasn’t very loose or flowy so it would be tough to do that in this. The shirt is well made with nice thick material, but I’m also thinking that it won’t be so comfortable in the heat.
Trumer Essential Knit Top by Mix by 41 Hawthorn, Size XL - Cost to Keep $28 (Return)
This was just a basic white shirt that pairs with the skirt I received (more pictures below). It is really soft, very flowy and comfortable. I would have to wear a cami underneath since it is see-through, but it would be an easy one to nurse in. The only reason I’m not keeping it is because I have a similar shirt already.
Morgana Maxi Skirt by Gilli, Size L - Cost to Keep $48 (Return)
This skirt was again, really soft, flowy and comfortable (that seems to be the theme of this box) which is definitely ideal at the moment! I wasn’t crazy about the red color, although I did like the pattern. My husband and kids really liked it, and although I know that maxi skirts are something that I should probably wear more of, I just don’t see myself wearing this one. The red is just too bright for me and even though it was a really nice, quality skirt, I still felt sort of frumpy in it. I don’t know why! But since I felt that way, I know I wouldn’t end up wearing this and it would just sit in my closet.
The Verdict: My stylist did a great job of finding nursing-friendly dresses that were somewhat flattering on my post-partum mom bod! It’s really hard to find comfortable dresses that allow for nursing but are also attractive and affordable - believe me, it’s been a struggle that I’ve dealt with for a while now! Overall, my Stitch Fix reflected my style and since I was able to find at least one item that I kept, I didn’t lose out on my styling fee. I really feel like they listen to the feedback that I provide and I think that finding one item out of five to keep is a pretty good average. Normally when I try clothes on in the store, I have 7 or more items and rarely end up even finding one thing that I keep! I love the convenience of this service, especially at the moment when I’m not sure if I’ll ever make it out of the house to shop for clothes again with 3 kids at home!
