Spring Bonus Bless Box Review

As is typical with the monthly box, this box came with an info mag with information on the products and other tidbits.

The box also came with a few coupons.

Sol de Janeiro Sunset Glow Oil in Ipanema Sunset

Sol de Janeiro Sunset Glow Oil in Ipanema Sunset, Full-size! - Retail Value $35

This is a new release from Sol de Janeiro, so props to Bless for including a hot ticket item. This moisturizing oil has the perfect amount of shimmer, designed to “accentuate your delicious curves and highlight your favorite features.” This absorbed easily into my skin and I am excited to use this on my legs and arms as we move into the hot summer months, but I wish this came in a pump dispenser rather than having to literally pour it into my hands. Potential mess-factor aside, I like this a lot - and while it has definite shimmer it doesn’t look glittery or overly-sparkly.

Spongelle Pedi-Buffer in Mandarin Mint

Spongelle Pedi-Buffer in Mandarin Mint, Full-Size! - Retail Value $16

I enjoy Spongelles, and this was my first time trying their pedi-buffer. Considering sandals season is upon us, this is perfect for taking care of my feet. I love the orange-mint scent too— its very refreshing, and I love peppermint in my foot products.

KVoss NYC Macaroon Lip Balm,

KVoss NYC Macaroon Lip Balm, Full-Size! - Retail Value $14

This is a good lip balm that is packed full of various oils for maximum deep hydration. It was pleasant and helped with my chapped lips, but I wouldn’t pay full price for it.

Hand in Hand Sugar Scrub in Orange Blossom,

Hand in Hand Sugar Scrub in Orange Blossom, Full-Size! - Retail Value $18

I love citrus scented anything, so I am here for this sugar scrub packed with essential oils, Shea butter, and coconut oil. The sugar grains are very fine so the exfoliation was gentle, but it left my skin hydrated too. I am happy to have gotten this big, full-size product in this box—ingredient-conscious items like this always feel like a luxury.

Kerastase VIP Texturizing Spray, 1.8 oz - Retail Value $17, Listed Value $20.50

My curls don’t really need any help in the texture department, but I like using products like this to add volume to my roots when I’m throwing my hair up in a bun. This did the job, so I can’t complain! I would like to point out this was the only product included that had a listed price different from what I found online.

Seaside Medical Technology Post-Traumatic Response Gel, 1 oz

Seaside Medical Technology Post-Traumatic Response Gel, 1 oz Full-Size! - Retail Value $25

This gel is supposed to help your skin heal more quickly while also helping with pain and inflammation. I didn’t have any skin abrasions to test this out on, and when I applied it to my sore hands (from studying and writing hard!), I didn’t really notice any difference. I have a loved one with arthritis in their joints, so I am going to pass this on to them in the hopes it helps.

Burt’s Bees Eyeshadow Trio in Countryside Lavender,

Burt’s Bees Eyeshadow Trio in Countryside Lavender, Full-Size! - Retail Value $13

I appreciate Bless Box including non-brown eyeshadows, but this palette wasn't particularly impressive. The color pigment just wasn't there, and the colors felt a little chalky.

Purlisse Blue Lotus Travel Size Essential Daily Moisturizer SPF 30, .5 ounce Full-Size! - Retail Value $20

I am personally offended that Purlisse actually sells this .5 oz tube for $20. When I saw the info sheet, I thought for sure it was a case of Bless Box marking up the value. Nope, not this time. In terms of the product itself, it definitely smells more like a sunscreen than a moisturizer, but it absorbed quickly and didn’t leave me greasy. Not awful, but nothing that makes this small size worth $20.

Coco Floss in Pure Peppermint

Coco Floss in Pure Peppermint, Full-Size! - Retail Value $8

I am firmly a floss pick user vs using floss thread, however for the sake of reviewing I gave this a shot. Surprisingly, I actually liked it a lot! I like that the thread has texture, so it felt like my teeth were getting more clean compared to my regular floss. The peppermint flavor was lovely, and my mouth felt extra fresh after using.

Hair Shots by Amy Hair Fragrance in Asian Green

Hair Shots by Amy Hair Fragrance in Asian Green, Full-Size! Retail Value $14.49

This is a nice change from normal subscription box offerings. It is a hair perfume that activates with your body heat, so as you move throughout the day the scent will continue to shine. I really enjoyed the Asian Green scent, as I thought it smelled light, clean, and a touch fruity. I normally would put a spray of perfume in my hair when getting ready in the morning,

Bare Snacks Fuji & Reds Apple Chips,

Bare Snacks Fuji & Reds Apple Chips, .53 oz - Listed Value $2 (Buy a pack of 10, 1.7 oz bags for $21.43 here)

These were delicious, and as I sit here typing I am contemplating buying the 10 pack. Baked apples with nothing added, but that allows the delicious apple taste to really shine.

Tula Probiotic Skincare Hand & Nail Therapy, 2.5 oz

Tula Probiotic Skincare Hand & Nail Therapy, 2.5 oz Full-Size! - Retail Value $22

Ooh, I love getting full-sized hand creams in boxes. I am pretty rough with my hands, and all the nail polish remover I use doesn't do any favors for my cuticles. I found this to be nourishing and hydrating without leaving my skin greasy, and it also absorbed quickly.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigment Eye Pencil in Charcoal, Full-Size! - Retail Value $20

This isn't in the group shot at the top of the review because it was actually left out of the initial box. Luckily, Bless Box was on the ball and realized it almost immediately. This was in the mail to me before I even got the first box, so I appreciated that quick remedy. Bless Box likes to feature an item in each box that was popular in a previous months box, and this Juice Beauty eye pencil was the lucky winner. I like that it is a light charcoal compared to the regular black, and I thought it was creamy to apply with some staying power.

Marlyn Schiff Cable Bracelet,

Marlyn Schiff Cable Bracelet, Listed Value $37

Three style variations were possible, and I am really happy with the one I received. I couldn't find any of the three bracelets available for sale online, however, based on the price of other bracelets from the brand I think the listed price is fair. The bracelet itself is quite lovely, and the three charms, though small, pack a sparkly punch. I really like the magnetic closure too, because that means it is easy to put on without needing someone else’s help. Sadly, however, this bracelet is too small for my thick wrists, and I am quite bummed about it.

Bless Box “Bless Up” Dad Cap - Listed Value $35

In the info mag Sazam says “I loved these cute Dad hats so much I HAD to send them again.” I really wish you hadn’t, Sazam— once was more than enough, and I didn't even get that box. Plus, who in their right mind would pay $35 for a pink ball cap that says “bless up,” anyway? The millennial pink shade is nice and I am sure I am going to be able to find someone who could probably like this hat. The hat itself is pretty shallow, so on my big head, it doesn't come down far enough to actually shade my eyes from the sun. In the words of Randy Jackson, “it’s a no from me, dawg.”

Bless Box Springtime Greeting Cards, pack of 5 - Listed Value $5

I think at this point, Bless Box was like “we have $297.49 worth of stuff and we promised a value of over $300.” I am not mad about it, as I actually find these to be quite pretty, and I regularly write letters to my aunts who are scattered across the country. I like that there is no noticeable Bless Box branding and this is just a nice spring-themed post card.

The Verdict: Overall, I really liked this Spring Bonus Bless Box. I thought Bless Box did a good job sticking to the Spring theme, and I really loved that they included a new item from a popular brand in the Sol de Janerio oil, plus the bracelet was really lovely (I am bummed it didn't fit, but my wrists are thicker than the average, so I am not too mad). I think the hat is a bit of a dud, but considering there were 16 items in this box I think I will be okay. 😉

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I received the dad cap when they originally sent it and i actually really love it. I wear it all the time!

I didn’t get this box and I stopped subscribing to Bless Box months ago after getting enough Maybelline for a lifetime but now I wish I had gotten this box! They did a really great job with it.

I think their seasonal bonus boxes are significantly better than the sub box, in terms of value. I started subbing to them almost a year ago and the last few months have definitely been underwhelming…for me, at least. I think this box is one of several that’s on the chopping block after June.

But for the most part, these “bonus” boxes are pretty good. I’m sure I will continue to buy those. Kerastase is one of my fave hair brands and I’m always super happy when it shows up in a box. And Blessbox seems to have it in most of their bonus boxes (and even a couple of monthly boxes). Plus, I was oddly excited about the Cocofloss lol. I’m not sure what that says about my life when scoring some dental floss in a sub box thrills me, though 🙂 And then FFF opened add-ons and there was MORE Cocofloss. So now I’m think I’m pretty much set with the whole flossing thing.

Sold. I have loved that K Voss lip balm ever since I got it in my first Ipsy bag. I would never go buy it full price!

What a great review & box!! I am going to get the Hand in Hand Sugar Scrub and Coco Floss during the FFF Summer add-on’s sale. Excited to try both!

I got this box and thought it was great and I also was delivered the eye pencil separate however it came with 3.00 postage due. Did anyone else get it delivered postage due?? This seems like kind of a crappy thing to do. It isn’t really the money but the principle, I couldn’t believe they sent that postage due. I sent it back.

I tried to order but said I needed to enter another e-mail address. I am not a subscriber. Not sure what’s going on.

Oh wow, Gina! Mine did not arrive with postage due. That sounds like a mistake, and I recommend reaching out to them!

Interesting box! Very FabFitFun-ish. I’m going to add that floss to my FFF add-ons if it is still available.

The hat is cute but that saying is terrible! It reminds me of “throw up”. What is bless up?

I just bought 16 bags of those apple chips as my local grocery store had them BOGO last week and I loved them!

Jessica

Thanks for reading, Melissa!
I went grocery shopping yesterday and my local Albertsons had the apple chips, regularly priced at $1.99, on sale 3 for $1. I bought 18 bags and I am contemplating going back for more.

I got this box. I have already traded several items. My bracelet was different than the one featured and was too small for me as well. The Tula hand cream is great, but it is unscented, yet still has a weird smell. I hate when unscented things have that weird unscented smell. The scent lasted on my hands all night. My hand scrub was lavender scented. Would have kept it if it was Orange Blossom. I don’t get the hat at all. Bless up? Makes no sense to me. Plus I am not religious so I’ll probably donate it next donation day.

It was kind of disorienting going through this review since a strange amount of these products (or similar) are currently available as FFF add-ons. Convenient to get honest reviews, but a bit odd. I guess they are the items that are easy to get at a discount in bulk right now….

Thanks for the honest review. It actually made me contemplate getting this box, but I must have control. I must…

Thanks for reading, Redhead!
One way of looking at it is, with the coupon, you are paying full price for the sol de janeiro and $10 for everything else. I definitely think it is worth it!

Noelle

I’m with you, Redhed…with the $15 off this is a no brainer…! But I got Gossybox’s LE yesterday and that was def my last box this month…!! And Jessica, excellent review. I have to say when I saw the ballcap, I thought of my big hair head and it was a NO but a friend of mine would love it…Very NICE box, Bless box…

I too purchased the Glossybox yesterday and the Discover the Deal Box this morning and because of those two purchases I am turning down this box and the target boxes. I have too much stuff and too much debt.

Margie Moore-Cooper

You make me laugh Redhead! I was “contemplating ” myself. I had to go back through and ask myself about each item..
So far it’s worked! Now, I’m contemplating another Target Mother’s Day box! Lol

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

Ha! I actually (for the first time) didn’t purchase either of the Target boxes, but you know I thought long and hard on it. I purchased the Glossy Mother’s Day box and the Discover the Deal Box in the last 24hrs so I need to step away…
