Peaches and Petals April 2018 Box Review

pet treater coupon code 13 deals coupon code

Peaches and Petals doesn't come with an info card about the items, but I did receive this card with 2 codes for Pet Treater and 13 Deals which are other companies by Jammin' Butter (who owns Peaches & Petals).

Let's see the glorious randomness that came this month!

Starfish Slate Serving Set 3/4 view of Starfish Slate Serving Set close up of starfish starfish spreader

Boston International Slate Starfish Cheeseboard and Spreader - Retail Value $15.99

I love cheese and although I can appreciate receiving a slate cheeseboard with a matching spreader, the silver starfish motif isn't my style. I was impressed that the slate made it one piece, but it does also look like it has some rust on it somehow. Perhaps it got damp in a warehouse at one point? Unless that is just how slate is sometimes, I'm just not sure. The seven-inch squared cheeseboard is quite heavy and the 4.5-inch starfish spreader seems to be a decent quality, so if you like beachy serving items, this would be a great win for you!

Petal Fresh Botanicals Soothing Facial Wipes

Petal Fresh Soothing Facial Wipes in Aloe Vera - Retail Value $6.59

These aren't actually marked as makeup remover wipes on the front of the package, but the directions do say to use it to remove makeup, dirt, and oil from your face. I am a user of makeup wipes, so every time I receive a package of them in a box, it means that is one less package I have to buy at the store. This particular kind includes aloe vera extract which has vitamins C + E that soothes the skin.

Body Luxuries Spa Bath Pillow in package front of Body Luxuries Spa Bath Pillow detail of front of Body Luxuries Spa Bath Pillow back of Body Luxuries Spa Bath Pillow close up of suction cup on Body Luxuries Spa Bath Pillow

Body Luxuries Spa Bath Pillow - Retail Value $9.99

I've become quite a bath taker these days and sometimes wish I had a pillow like this to rest my head on, so I was pretty delighted to see this in the box. When laid flat, the deflated plastic pillow is 15.5 inches wide by 13 inches high and has scalloped edges. One side of the pillow is covered with a thin soft terrycloth and the other has four suction cups to affix it to the tub to prevent sliding around. I haven't gotten a chance to use this yet, but I'm always wary of suction cups because they never seem to stay stuck for me.

Organic Golden Coconut Sugar

Organic Golden Coconut Sugar, 1 lb. - Retail Value $6.00

I rarely use sugar at home because I don't do a lot of baking and drink my coffee black, but I am intrigued by this sugar substitute because I love all things coconut. It says right on the bag that you use it the exact same way you'd use cane sugar, so there's no guesswork. Right away this reminds me of brown sugar, probably because of its golden brown color, but it also tastes sort of like maple. The ingredients say its "certified organic fair trade granulated coconut blossom nectar" so maybe that's what it is. How interesting! This certainly has a much different taste than the average cane sugar but I'd love to try it with the chocolate chip cookie recipe on the back. Yum!

Occasionally Made Mason Jar Lid Coaster Set Occasionally Made Mason Jar Lid Coaster Set showing lobster design looking down at Occasionally Made Mason Jar Lid Coaster Set top and bottom of Occasionally Made Mason Jar Lid Coaster Set glass on Occasionally Made Mason Jar Lid Coaster

Occasionally Made Lobster Mason Jar Lid Coaster - Estimated Retail Value $17.95 (linked to similar item)

The last item I can appreciate because I use coasters at home to prevent watermarks on my vintage coffee table. Cork has to be the best material for coasters in my opinion because it will absorb any wetness that a cold drink leaves behind. This set comes with four "mason jar lid" coasters which are just how they sound. Each one is a seemingly galvanized metal like the ones you'd find on an old jar and the inside has a cork lining with a red lobster design to keep your drinkware from ruining furniture. The lip of each coaster is 3/4 of an inch high so there is no chance of condensation sliding off. Sadly, these lobsters are also not my style, so I'm going to try and pass them on to someone who'd enjoy them more.

The Verdict: For $19.99, Peaches and Petals sent me a hodgepodge of random items that were (and always will be) hit or miss. The dollar value is undeniable seeing as though I received five items with a retail value of an estimated $56.52. On a personal level though, 2 of the 5 items I could do without so I'd have to be comfortable paying under $20.00 for the sugar, wipes, and pillow (which still seems like a pretty good deal).

So jealous if the lobster coasters! Mine had little anchors. Cute. . . but LOBSTERS!!!

Wish I had gotten that random box. It was better than the crappy random box I got.

I don’t think it would be too hard to either modify these lobster ones by adding a design you like better in top or just making your own all together with some mason jar lids.

On the fence here. Ready to ditch Cosmo box, is this a better or worse replacement for a 20.00 range lifestyle box?

Good question! Reviews show this has more of a home decor emphasis. I’m giving it 3 months. As I stated elsewhere, I had very satisfying customer service with this box so far.

Just an FYI, coconut sugar is not a sugar substitute! It’s the same as sugar, just derived from coconut rather than sugarcane, and will have the same impact on insulin levels and blood sugar, etc. The bag says “low glycemic” but the glycemic index judges foods in a vacuum, and only compared to other foods which impact blood sugar and only two hours after eating. Basically, coconut sugar is no better for you than white sugar, but it probably tastes better! Not saying people shouldn’t eat it, I just get aggravated when packaging makes something see, like what it isn’t.

Actually it has less of an impact on your insulin levels, my mother is a diabetic and her endocrinologist told her that coconut sugar and flour was a much healthier alternative. Sugar in its natural form is brown, when it is refined and overcommercialized to its simplest form its white, same with flour. As a result your body burns it much quicker and it spikes your blood sugar much quicker. Coconut, while a tropical fruit, is rich in healthy fats…. and it’s definitely lower on the glycemic index. (Coconut is magical period)…. Nevertheless, as with anything in life, moderation is key.

My April box did not have the cheese board, but an Occasionally Made large leather blue/gray bag vintage day tote that is listed on their site for $31.95. I’m so happy with it! It’s perfect fit for a work bag. This sub box has been more hits than misses for me.

I got the bag too. Mine was a dark gray purple-ish color. It’s very pretty.

Me 3. Mine was maroon and will be great in the fall.

I got bright blue anchors on my coasters. Not really fitting for my Iowa home lol. I simply removed the cork and will either replace with mesh or cork cut out circles later.

My wipes were expired. You all might want to check that if you received them! I contacted the company and received a very nice reply asking if I’d like a different item with similar value for a replacement. They replied within 24 hours. I got a makeup sponge set (2) and a Too Faced Melted Latex lippie.

Great review. The boxes are getting better too.

I love the Coasters, I am from Maine so they right up my alley!!! I would trade/buy even though am not on the swap site. I have bought from some folks here before though with no issues.

You can just go right on ahead and pass those coasters to me! They would go great with my summer decor!
