ORLY Color Pass Summer 2018 “Neon Earth” Review
This box includes an info sheet detailing the bonuses included, as well as a nail art idea using the colors. The bonuses this month were an Orly Glossier top coat, nail art supplies, and some Coola suncare samples.
I appreciate these rhinestones having an adhesive backing for ease of use, but I stick with Swarovski when I am doing rhinestone nail art. The nail art tape I have used before, and I strongly recommend something like this to help you control how thin and delicate the tape can be.
Orly Glossier Top Coat, .3 oz - Listed Value $5.50 (buy the full-size version for $11)
Seche Vite is my go-to top coat, and glossier didn't really do much to change my mind. It helped provide shine, but I noticed my nails chipping sooner compared to my normal wear time.
Coola SPF 30 Makeup Setting Spray, .34 ounce - Estimated Value $7.20 (Buy the full-size version for $36)
Coola is one of my favorite suncare brands, and I think including them in a box that has a desert theme is a great touch! I can always use added SPF in my daily routine, so I will be finishing my makeup with this until my little sample runs out!
Coola Daydream Mineral SPF 30 Primer, .17 oz - Estimated Value $7.14 (buy the full-size version for $42)
I really like this mineral primer for the SPF it has and the way it makes my skin feel, but I would probably use it on a no-makeup day vs under a full face. I don't know if this could stand up to my skins oiliness with a bunch of liquid foundation on top.
Before showing you the polishes, I would like to really - set the mood - I grew up in the Sedona Desert of Southern Arizona, so here are some pictures of the beautiful sunrises and sunsets the desert has to offer.
Blazing Sunset, .6 oz - Retail Value $9.50
This vibrant orange-pink creme is stunningly neon, however, it performed beautifully without a coat of white polish underneath (which is usually a must for neons colors to really glow). I was really impressed with how vibrant it was all on its own, and the formula was a dream to apply.
Desert Rose, .6 oz - Retail Value $9.50
This darker mauve pink is the perfect counterbalance to the neon of Blazing Sunset. This polish also had a creamy and smooth formula that made application easy, and I like the wider brushes that Orly polishes have compared to the standard. My Desert Rose came with the lid just slightly unscrewed, so some of the polish leaked— it wasn't a big deal to me, but if it happens to you contact Orly customer service!
After Glow, .6 oz - Retail Value $9.50
After Glow is the love child of Desert Rose and Blazing Sunset, and this light neon coral pink creme is another polish that is vividly bright without a white base coat. I think this is the color I will be reaching for when I go to get my next pedicure.
Sands of Time, .6 oz - Retail Value $9.50
This peach-nude creme is a great color reminiscing the desert sands, and like the others, the formula was a dream to work with. Orly really nails their creme polishes when it comes to formulas, and it makes applying the colors so much easier!
Moon Dust, .6 oz - Retail Value $9.50
Orly calls this a metallic peach foil, I call it a metallic champagne. Either way, it's gorgeous, and it provides the perfect contrast to the vivid neons in this collection. This formula was a touch thinner than the cremes, but nothing that made applying it any more difficult.
Valley of Fire, .6 oz - Retail Value $9.50
This orange copper color is the perfect finishing touch to this collection. So much southwestern artwork uses copper, and Arizona had a lot of copper mines as well. Plus, I have a lot of gold polishes but none that are close to this true copper shade, and it is always a joy to add a unique color to my collection.
Here is the nail art I did for using all six colors. I was super impressed I was able to use all six colors in a cohesive look, and I think that just speaks to the great job Orly did in creating this collection. My ring finger ombre goes from Desert Rose to Blazing Sunset, to After Glow, and ends with Sands of Time. My middle finger is Moon Dust with a cactus I painted using black acrylic paint, and the remaining nails were coated with Valley of Fire.
The Verdict: I said during the Spring review that I was looking forward to the summer collection, and Orly did not disappoint! This is my favorite collection I have ever seen released from Orly, and I am so happy to know own it in its entirety. You will probably be able to buy the individual polishes for cheaper than the retail value at Ulta or Sally’s, but considering the monthly cost of the box is $29.75 finding the whole collection for cheaper than the color pass price will be difficult. I loved the fun extras this box included, too! Fall will have a tough act to follow, but I think Orly is up to the challenge.

Value Breakdown: The annual subscription costs $119, or $29.75 a box, and I calculated a value of $76.84 for everything except the nail art supplies. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:
