Keto Krate April 2018 Review
Each box includes an info card. I think it has a really nice, easy-to-read design with real photos of each product.
NuNaturals NuStevia Simple Syrup (Simple, Ginger, Cocoa, & Cocoa Mint), 4 x 0.17 fl oz. - Buy a 16 oz bottle for $15.99
The first one of these I tried was the cocoa syrup over some greek yogurt and it was actually really good! The stevia aftertaste wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t overly sweet. I’m thinking I’ll try the cocoa mint syrup in my coffee for a mint mocha!
Be Mixed Zero Calorie Margarita Cocktail Mixer, 4 oz – Buy a pack of 4 for $10.99
I love the packaging for this! I tried a sip of this alone, since I don’t drink, and I thought it tasted pretty good! I’ve never actually had a margarita so I can’t speak to the accuracy of the flavor, but it was sweet and has zero calories and only 1g net carbs!
Alterna Sweets Classic Tomato Ketchup, 13.5 oz – Retail Value $9
Okay, guys. This ketchup. It’s amazing. Personally, I even like it I think better compared to standard, brand-name ketchup! For me, it’s because it actually tastes like real food I can recognize. The ingredients include tomato paste, actual onion, vinegar, spices, etc., with stevia instead of the “tomato concentrate” and high fructose corn syrup that normal ketchup is made with. I get no stevia aftertaste, either! This is delicious – a great find! I’d use this whether eating low-carb or not.
Good Dee’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Low Carb Baking Mix, 8 oz – Retail Value $11.99
I love getting baking mixes in boxes! It’s like getting a couple batches of cookies as part of the box, so that’s a win for me, haha. These are actually quite good! I had heard of this brand before and I’m glad I got to try them – they’re yummy. I’m glad they use erythritol and stevia instead of any sugar alcohols, which can mess with your stomach.
Pizootz Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper Artisan Peanuts, 1.45 oz pouch – Buy 16 oz for $19.95
I generally am just not a person to eat nuts alone for a snack, but I like adding them to salads and yogurt and things. These were good, but I guess to me they just kind of tasted, like, peanuts? Maybe a different flavor from this company would have made them seem more artisanal to me. But like I said, I don’t snack on cans of peanuts from Walmart so I don’t really have a solid comparison.
Southern Recipe Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper Flavored Small Batch Pork Rinds, .875 oz – Buy 4 oz for $3.99
When I started with low-carb/keto I was surprised that pork rinds seem like a common staple snack for many people! They actually have more protein than peanuts do and zero carbs! Lots of people use them in recipes too. These tasted pretty good. I like that there was no weird greasy residue.
Skinny Salamis Original Casbah Pork Mini Salamis, 1.1 oz – Buy 6, 2.3 oz packs for $42
After the ketchup, I think these are my favorite item in the box. I love that they’re antibiotic-free and have no added hormones. The flavor is fantastic, too.
Keto Kookie Peanut Butter, 2 cookie pack – buy 10 packs for $29.95
These cookies are also really good! They taste like peanut butter shortbread! They’re good, and not even just “for a low carb cookie.” I honestly considered going and ordering more, but for some reason all flavors are out of stock in their shop online, which is pretty weird.
Verdict: I got 8 items this month, which is less than the 12 we got last month but it still feels like a nice, full box! Honestly, I feel like all of these items are high quality, too, so I’m really pleased. I love the variety of products included, too. I think having a larger variety of things to snack on (that are convenient) and the discovery of new products definitely adds some fun and maybe helps ease the transition into a new way of eating.
