Chococurb Classic April 2018 Lemon Milk Chocolate Chococurb Classic April 2018 Lemon Chocolate Bar

Theo Lemon Milk Chocolate Bar, 3 oz – Retail Value $3.99

45% Milk Chocolate

I have been on a real citrus kick lately (spring will do that to ya!), so I was particularly intrigued by the concept of lemon chocolate. Plus, the wrapper of this bar is just so eye-catching and adorable. Flavor-wise, the chocolate was deliciously creamy and the lemon flavor was faint. Actually, I'm not totally sure I'd notice it if I weren't looking for it, but I think its subtleness works well here.

Chococurb Classic April 2018 K'ul Hazelnut Orange

K'ul Hazelnuts and Orange Dark Chocolate Bar, 2.9 oz

70% Dark Chocolate

I love dark chocolate and often look for 70% or higher when picking a bar up for myself. On the other hand, I typically pass on orange-flavored chocolates because something about the mix of tastes just doesn't tend to blend well for me. I also often skip nut-filled chocolate bars because I find that the nuts interfere with the consistency. However, I had a good feeling about this bar (which seems to be discontinued for online purchase) because of how high-quality its packaging is! I will say, it's better than I expected! The orange isn't overpowering and the hazelnuts go nicely with the dark chocolate, offering a cocoa-y flavor. I actually really enjoyed this bar.

Chococurb Classic April 2018 Banana Marshmallow Chocolate

Mayana Mini Monkey Bar, 1.5 oz - Buy 10 for $40

66% Dark Chocolate

Oh my gosh, this treat is so decadent! The consistency is amazing—it's both light and dense at the same time. The marshmallow layer is very fluffy and the banana rum caramel is creamy...perfection! Even though this chocolate isn't very big, it's definitely worth sharing because of how rich its flavor is. I wish I had another to enjoy later and may just have to buy some to have on hand for indulgent moments!

Chococurb Classic April 2018 Peppermint Lavender Chocolate

Elements Truffles Peppermint Chocolate Bar with Lavender Infusion, 2 oz - Buy 3 for $20

70% Dark Chocolate

This is another bar with beautiful packaging. I could smell the peppermint and lavender as I was opening the box, and when I tasted a corner, I found that both flavors were prominent. It was a cool taste combination...the lavender is a hint perfume-y but still delicious and the peppermint came in strong late, which was very refreshing. The cocoa in this dark chocolate bar is fair trade and organic, which adds positively to the experience for me.

Chococurb Classic April 2018 Chocolate Block

Ticket Chocolate French Truffle Hot Chocolate On a Stick, 1.5 oz  - Retail Value $4.50

55% Dark Chocolate

This block of chocolate on a stick is meant to be swirled around in hot water or milk and made into hot cocoa! It rarely occurs to me to drink hot chocolate when the weather is warm, but I certainly wasn't going to turn down the opportunity to make some! I heated up some unsweetened vanilla almond milk in a liquid measuring cup in the microwave, then poured it over the chocolate cube in my mug. I had to document the process because of how mouthwatering it was!

Chococurb Classic April 2018 Hot Cocoa  Chococurb Classic April 2018 Melty Chocolate

Chococurb Classic April 2018 Hot Chocolate

While the process of swishing the chocolate in my mug and watching it melt was delightful, the finished product wasn't anything to write home about—the chocolate was pretty chunky and sunk toward the bottom instead of really blending in. That made for kind of a weak flavor and I abandoned it halfway through. My husband, on the other hand, helped himself to the melted chocolate that was waiting at the bottom and loved every minute of it!

The Verdict: This was an awesome month for Chococurb! I was given a delicious variety of chocolates with various cacao percentages and a good combo of very complexly flavored ones alongside some simpler ones. I truly enjoyed every single one, even the ones I didn't expect to. And, since I wasn't about to eat four bars and hot cocoa all in one sitting, I get to continue enjoying these awesome chocolates throughout my week(s) ahead. I was unable to find values for all the chocolates included, and some are only available for purchase in bulk. But, with a few prorated prices, I average the contents of this box adding up to about $29—a little below the $35/month cost, but still worth it to me for the excitement of exploring new flavors with gorgeous packaging.
