Candy Club May 2018 Review

This month we are back to the three candy choices with bonus loose candy since I didn't have enough points to cash in and get a free candy like last month.

I also wanted to note that since it's getting hot out there now, Candy Club has added insulating material to prevent your candies from melting in transit. Very kind!

andre prost zots candies

Andre Prost Zots, net weight 1.88 oz.

Yes! I love Zots and these are probably my faves of the loose candy that they send. Each one is a fruity hard candy with sour fizzy powder on the inside. So fun to eat! Kind of a shame that I only got 10. I feel like there are usually more.

Vidal Gummi Giant Fried Eggs, net weight 11.38 oz.

I saw these and just couldn't resist. Although these look kinda crazy and I'd never sign up for egg-flavored candy, they are strawberry flavored and taste pretty good! The white part of the gummy is especially spongy and weird with the yolk serving you classic gummy texture and flavor. These are quite heavy when you pick them up and their slender bodies allow a lot to fit into the 16 oz. container.

Toad Ally Birthday Cake Popcorn, net weight 4 oz.

These also brought a smile to my face when I saw them. Compared to the other candies, these are really light and don't weigh very much since it's popcorn. The birthday cake flavored kettle corn is drizzled with vanilla frosting and has rainbow sprinkles covering them. This is so sweet I can barely eat more than one, so perhaps I made a mistake with this one. Looks cool though, no?

KOPPERS® CAYENNE DARK CHOCOLATE SAVOURIES looking down at KOPPERS® CAYENNE DARK CHOCOLATE SAVOURIES

Koppers Cayenne Dark Chocolate Savouries, net weight 11 oz.

Wooohooo- I think I have a winner here. I really enjoy spicy chocolate, so I wanted to try these cayenne chocolate drops which are kind of similar to an M&M. The candy coating isn't as crunchy, but they're a bit larger and the insides have a delightfully spicy dark chocolate filling. Mmm- these are great!

Verdict: Candy Club says that they send *up to* 3 lbs of candy in each $29.99 (+8.99 shipping) package, but the kicker is that they don't really send you the candy selection by weight, they send the usual three choices by volume. Last month was the first time I weighed everything to see where we landed in total candy weight, and this time I've done it again. For all four candies, I got a total weight of only 1.77 lbs which is of course quite low when you think you'll be getting "up to" 3 lbs. I think it'd be fairer for them to say you get three 16 oz containers of candy and allow you to decide if it's worth it. I guess it just depends on the size of the candy at the end of the day.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You won't get this exact box since you can either choose your candy or have it chosen at random for you!

I’m SO HAPPY to see Kopper’s in a subscription box! Every product they make is absolutely delicious and it’s such a shame that they aren’t more widely known because they don’t sell direct to consumers and they’re too “upscale” for most stores that sell candy to carry them. I LOVED the Cayenne Savouries when my store carried them and I’m glad to see they’re still around. For anyone reading this, should you come across Kopper’s Ultimate Malt Balls, BUY THEM, YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!
