Avid Dresser is a monthly dress styling subscription. Subscribers take a style quiz and work with their stylist to find dresses that work for their lifestyle. There are 2 different plans: Basic (1 dress per month) and Signature (2 dresses per month). They have also just introduced a Curvy Girls plan (1 dress per month). All the dresses you receive are yours to keep!

This is a review of the Signature subscription box, which is $49.99 a month.

March is the last month of the Avid Dresser subscription until fall. Here is what the company sent:

We would like to thank all of our loyal and new Avid Dresser members. During our short time in operation, we have enjoyed working with each and every one of you. In an effort to reformulate our business and ensure that we are providing the best possible customer experience and dresses, we'll be discontinuing our services until Fall 2018. Between now and then we'll be streamlining our services and making enhancements across the board. You can expect to see new and exciting styles, designs, and fabrics, as well as more seasonally appropriate selections. Stay connected with us on social media and let us know what you would like to see. You can always reach out to us with dress style and fit questions, relaunch date, etc. We'll be back and we hope that you will join us when we relaunch. See you in the Fall!

For the sign-up process, I took a style quiz answering questions about my size, color and style preferences, for what occasions I need dresses, etc. I also had the option to choose to talk to a stylist directly or not. I would recommend choosing yes because it was super helpful!

Avid Dresser March 2018 Box Review

Let’s see the dresses my stylist has picked for me this month:

My stylist, Rachel, included a handwritten note telling me a little about her selections for me. Just for reference, I’m usually a 6 in pants/dresses and a M in tops. I’ve sized up to a L for this subscription. Let’s see how it worked out.

Paper Crane Striped Shirt Dress, L - Estimated Value $34.99

This dress feels so nice and cool. It is made of 100% rayon and is a cobalt blue with a thin white pinstripe pattern. I like shirt dresses for their versatility. From work to weekends, the way you accessorize can make all the difference. I think this is just a bit too large. I feel like my shoulders lose shape with the shoulder seam falling so far down on my arms. I also had a lot of fabric to cinch in around my waist.

Cotton On Chambray Shirt Dress, L - Estimated Value $34.99

Another shirt dress! I like this one better right off the bat because I love chambray. The rolled up sleeves and belted waist are flattering and make this dress versatile too. I tend to tie belts like this in the back to help create a little shape without highlighting my stomach area in the front. I like the length and the pockets, which give this a little bit of a western feel. Like the last dress, I feel like this is just a touch too big. But, this one is so comfy (and has a little more structure), so I’ll definitely wear it.

The Verdict: I find it interesting that two of the same style dress were included this month. I really like the chambray dress but the other will probably be given to a friend. In previous months, I would have been able to reach out to my stylist and get the dress exchanged. But, since Avid Dresser is going on a break, I’m not going to worry about it. The value is there this month with both dresses being good quality and cute. I look forward to seeing what Avid Dresser has in mind for when they come back in the fall and if they offer a subscription again.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Avid Dresser is on hold until sometime this fall so no subscriptions are active right now.

Value Breakdown: The cost of this box is $49.99 for two dresses. That means you are paying about $25 for each dress. I think the value of the dresses at least equals or exceeds that amount.

I think you need to size down to a medium when they re-open, but both these dresses are cute and fit you well enough, I think. The biggest reason I like wearing dresses is that they are so forgiving size-wise, right? It just seems they are both a little large through the arm-hole area. I also think both dresses would look cute with your own belts instead of the attached ties. Those are just random thoughts.
Am I seeing from the card that you are returning from a honeymoon? If so, congrats!

Yes! Thank you! We spent a wonderful week in Costa Rica! My first big trip.
I think the same thing about the size. The chest area seems too large. Thanks for the feedback, Marie!

I think you look great in both dresses! The fit looks so comfy yet stylish and flattering at the same time. I do think it’s importaant to feel good in what you wear, but for what it’s worth, you pull them both off quite well.

I do hope they come back. I was going to sub for May!
