5th Avenue Style is an accessories subscription box based out of New York City that specializes in luxury fashion items at a deep discount. Their motto is “Effortless Elegance” – and they boast that their company is made up of a team of highly professional stylists and fashion veterans. In the monthly subscription box, you are guaranteed 4-5 branded luxury accessories items with a minimum value of $250.

When you sign up for this box, or any of the variations (e.g. other subscription boxes, their membership club, or limited edition boxes) you will complete a short questionnaire indicating things like what colors you love, which you avoid, your preferred accessories, style, and metal color - and some sizing info where applicable (for instance, with rings).

There are several subscriptions available from 5th Avenue Style including:

  • SUBSCRIPTION BOXES ($98/month or 3 months for $279): Includes 4-5 luxury accessories items such as jewelry, scarves, bags, small leather goods, sunglasses with a minimum value of $250.
  • DELUXE SUBSCRIPTION BOXES ($159 or 3 months for $447): Features 4-5 branded luxury accessories items such as jewelry, scarves, bags, small leather goods, sunglasses with a minimum value of $350.
  • LIBERTY CAPSULE SUBSCRIPTION ($249 every 2 months): Liberty Capsule is a bi-monthly subscription that features 2-3 pieces of high-quality clothing and 1-2 accessory pieces.
  • QUARTERLY VIP SUBSCRIPTION BOX ($390 every 3 months): Features 4-5 items of brand name jewelry and accessories including popular European designers and seasonal items. This box has $900+ Retail Value.
  • QUARTERLY DRESS FOR SUCCESS BOX ($490 every 3 months): Features a branded handbag, 4-5 items of brand name jewelry and accessories along with upscale beauty and skin care products. This box has $950+ Retail Value.

Although the external packing isn’t much to look at – inside of the boring brown box the pieces are tenderly packaged and often beautifully wrapped.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is for the 5th Avenue Style Monthly Subscription, $98 a month, box.

Good to Know: 5th Avenue Style is notorious for slow shipping. For perspective, this box was ordered on April 14. They try to ship within 15 business days from the date of the order for their regular subscription box. This means my box should have shipped on or before May 4th, however it shipped on May 12. Their quarterly boxes can be delayed by months, rather than weeks, but you do always get your box in the end!

5th Avenue Style May 2018 Review

5th Avenue Style has you fill out a survey when you subscribe to this box. You describe your metal preference, any colors you like or dislike, and your preferred accessories. There is also a section to leave a note to 5th Avenue. From what I have learned from the forum and people who have subscribed, the more details you give,  the better your chances of the box is just to your liking. Here is what I said in my note to 5th Avenue:

I have very fat wrists that makes fitting bracelets difficult. I prefer necklaces I can throw over my head rather than clasping. I love dangly earrings. I prefer bags that can fit a wallet, an iPhone, and a makeup bag vs really small bags. I don’t use clutches (too scared of losing them!). I wear prescription glasses 90% of the time.

Also, after my recent box, I emailed them with more feedback and also mentioned my love of fancy candles.

Now let's see the box they put together based on all of that information!

Here is the invoice detailing the products I received. No prices are listed.

Inside my big box were several smaller boxes. I naturally opened the biggest and heaviest one first to find:

Seda France French Blossom Bleu et Blanc Two-Wick Ceramic Candle, 18 oz

Seda France French Blossom Bleu et Blanc Two-Wick Ceramic Candle, 18 oz - Retail Value $48.95

Well, hello there gorgeous! This is by far the biggest and fanciest candle I have ever had the privilege of owning, and I love the delicate floral bouquet smell. There are notes of jasmine, vanilla, and white cashmere blossoms, and once I started burning it this candle had my entire apartment smelling wonderful very quickly. I am interested in seeing just how long 18 ounces of candle last.

Inden Japan Dragonfly Eyeglasses Case

Inden Japan Dragonfly Eyeglasses Case - Retail Value $58.20

I have heard about the amazing quality of Inden pieces, and I was excited to experience it first hand with this eyeglasses case. I wear prescription glasses a majority of the time, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness of sending me this lovely eyeglass case. I love the embossed dragonfly design, and the deerskin leather is buttery soft. I will say that I don't know how accurate that price I found was— I know Inden typically has a much higher price point.

The other box inside this box was the typical white box that the jewelry comes in. I opened it and found…

Another candle!

Northern Lights Fine Fragranced Candles in Blue Velvet Gin, 5 oz

Northern Lights Fine Fragranced Candles in Blue Velvet Gin, 5 oz - Retail Value $18

You may be wondering “why are there two candles in a fashion-focused box?” and the answer to that is 5th Avenues exceptional attention to detail. I had mentioned in an email to 5th Avenue after my last box that I love high-end candles, so I was ecstatic to find two lovely candles in this box. This candle smells on juniper berry and lemon peel with lime zest and tangerine blossom and has a burn time of 35 hours. I also love the natural wood cork lid that this candle comes with!

Les Georgettes Silver Ring

Les Georgettes Silver Ring - Estimated Value $39? (other similar rings found here)

I had my first introduction to Les Georgettes last month, and I was eager to expand my collection. I was a little confused on the value because it looks like Les Georgettes redid their website, and some of the prices have changed. A few months ago, Colette got a similar ring with a value of $67.80.  I don't know if this is intentionally an adjustable ring, but I was able to widen it to fit my thick fingers personally. I love the contrast of the pop of yellow or the classy navy blue, and it pairs perfectly with the last item in the box.

Alta Vintage Rhodium Plated and Blue Enamel Earrings - Estimated Value $40?

I could not find information about Alta Vintage anywhere online, and I also could not find comparable earrings for a price comparison. That estimated value is something I would feel comfortable paying for earrings of this quality, but please note that I could be way off. Unknown-value aside, I simply love these earrings. I love dangly earrings, and I love the contrast of the different shades of blue. They were a bit heavy for all-day wear, but I will probably be wearing them all day long anyway— I really, really love these!

The Verdict: Personally, I feel like 5th Avenue Style hit it out of the park again this month. However, it was harder to find values for some of these items, and when I do the math, the $204.15 estimated value doesn't add up to a promised retail value of $250. Personally, I feel like the value is there even though the numbers may not add up— I feel like I got two candles specifically because they were trying to accommodate my wishlist, and if that is the reason for the value being a little low I am 100% okay with it. While the shipping issues are a bit of an inconvenience, I do have hopes that 5th Avenue Style will improve their shipping in the future— just be aware of their history of slow shipping before you sign up.

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Because of the variation, it’s unlikely that you would get the same items that I’m showing here. The value should be similar and is promised to at least be $250.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $98, which means that I paid an average of $19.60 per item. I still think that is incredible for the quality of the items I received.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Does anyone know when the Summer Box is shipping? I have emailed them twice but they have not replied.
Thank you

I would love to subscribe to this but I never would with the shipping issues they have.

$58 for the Inden glasses case seems about right. (I found $58.34 for that style at Rakuten Global Market)

I love that first candle! (Well, both look nice, but the first one is amazing!)

I just got my three replacement items yesterday so I finally have my final 5th Ave Holiday box that I ordered in November. The replacement items fit my style a bit better than the three I returned, although I might have personally chosen a different colorway for the handbag I could see why they picked everything and there was nothing I disliked. 🙂 I got a Les Georgette’s cuff bracelet (yay!) and a Coach handbag! (I’d told them I was willing to take a handbag instead of a different clutch.)

I wish their shipping was faster, but I am still pretty impressed with their curation and that they do try to listen to the notes people give.

I am so tempted by this box but don’t think I could handle $100/month without cancelling something else. The quarterly boxes just take to freaking long to mail!

Love your nail polish! What brand/color is It, if you don’t mind me asking?

What I want to know is where is my Second Luxury Home Box at? It was ordered in December and they haven’t sent out anything. The email advertising the box said it would ship 6-8 weeks from the date ordered. Now it’s May and nothing. I haven’t seen a review for it. Anyone else with this issue?

I emailed them about 2 months ago about my Second Luxury Home box and they said they are still waiting for the items from overseas. I haven’t heard anything about it since. I also ordered in December.

I’m in a the boat on the home box. I ordered late November and emailed about a month ago on when they’d ship. I was also told they’re waiting on items from overseas. =(

Jennifer

Yup. Waiting on the Spring the box. Promised it would ship about a week ago. Their shipping is the worst.

I received the blue velvet gin candle in their new year new me box. It smells so lovely. I do wish it was a larger size, however. And yes, the cork top is really cool.

I also received one in my new year’s box, agree – it’s a great candle!
