The Bakery Box March 2018 Review

The info sheet for this box didn’t include info on the products, but it did let me know how to find them on social media!

Strawberry Frosted Donut Body Butter, 2 oz

Strawberry Frosted Donut Body Butter, 2 oz - Retail Value $11

This was the first product to catch my eye in the box because, hello, there's an actual donut (with sprinkles!) on the lid of this body butter. And boy, when they say butter they really mean it. This stuff is THICK and when you start to apply it, it just melts into your skin. The scent is a sweet strawberry that isn't overpowering. I remember getting confectionary scented lotions when I was a kid that were sickeningly sweet in smell, and this is much milder in comparison. This is an adult strawberry frosted donut scent if you will.

Strawberry Soufflé Body Wash, 8 oz

Strawberry Soufflé Body Wash, 8 oz - Estimated Value $8 (based on other body wash that can be found here)

Strawberry Souffle is the exclusive scent for this box, which means that this body wash and body mist won’t be made available for purchase on the Shea Shea Bakery website. The strawberry scent is light and airy (probably mellowed out by the whipped cream scent), and the brown sugar scent really shines through. Smelling this makes me want to bite into an actual strawberry dessert. This didn’t dry out my skin and got my skin clean, so it’s a good body wash with a heavenly smell.

Update: After I used this body wash, I noticed crystals formed on the top of the lid. We reached out to Shea Shea Bakery, and they said this was normal and due to suction in the cap pulling formula out. I rinsed off the lid per their instructions, and the problem has disappeared!

Strawberry Soufflé Body Mist, 8 oz

Strawberry Soufflé Body Mist, 8 oz - Estimated Value $15 (based on other body mist found here)

This spray is a light mist that floats onto the skin and leaves just a hint of that delicious brown sugar-strawberry scent. This is the kind of spray I would want to apply after a hot shower before pulling on a pair of crisp pajamas and watching a good movie. I am amazed that Shea Shea Bakery has made such a fun and sweet scent that does not smell like I grabbed a perfume from the kid's aisle at the store.

Pink Lemonade Soap, 4 oz

Pink Lemonade Soap, 4 oz - Retail Value $3

Rounding out our collection of pink body treats is this pink lemonade soap. I love pink lemonade to drink, and I love citrus in my body products, so this bar of soap is perfect for me. The hefty 4 oz size means this baby is going to last a while, and it is thick and sturdy in my hand as I use it.

The Verdict: I can see why a reader requested a review of this box— it’s awesome! I love that unique scents are made each month for this box, similar to the way Fortune Cookie Soap offers their monthly boxes. I appreciate the attention to detail that is evident in these products (hello! Sprinkles on a donut on a body butter!), and the skincare products themselves are high-quality goods. I am excited to see what April has to offer. My only complaint is I wish The Bakery Box included an actual baked good because all these delicious scents have me craving a pastry!

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up today your first box will be the April box.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $24.55 and I calculated a value of $37. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Body Butter: $7.30
  • Body Mist: $9.95
  • Body Wash: $5.31
  • Soap: $1.99

The Bakery Box is a " purchase full of limited edition bakery-inspired box. Each month is a different theme and scent...Most often, Bakery Box items are not sold separately so get them while you can. Once a box is sold out, it is gone for good."

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I received my April box and it was AWESOME!!! Raspberry Macaron body butter delicious…already would love to swap for a back-up and the other scents. (Lemon & Blueberry). Blueberry Lemon Body Oil, nourishing, not greasy and once again a very pleasant delicious smell. Macaron Hand Soaps, cute addition to my bathroom! Edible Gourmet Macaron – tasty and was immediately gone shortly after I opened the box. All the other items I order also AMAZING…pecan pie body cream, rice marshmallow treat soap, iced lemon pound cake soap, cookie dough & confetti cake batter bath whips – FABULOUS! So far I LOVE ALL their products!!

I got mine also! Loved it! I’m selling my lemon macaroon butter cream and hand soaps though because I don’t use hand soaps but they are so cute and smell delicious! I also am not a fan of lemon, but I’d swap with anyone that’s interested?? I truly love Shae Shae Bakery! Awesome company!

I bought the April box, and based on comments here, I chose the higher $8.00 shipping rather than the standard $5.00 rate.

Kind of worried about what they are doing with the shipping, too!

Still, this looks like a fun box and the sizes are full sized, which I appreciate in all my sub items.

Great review Jessica! This box looks amazing — I just ran over to their website, and picked up the April box and few other things I couldn’t live without!

Just cancelled Fortune Cookie for this one. I was really disappointed last night with my first box so very excited about this one.

I was disappointed with FCS this month too! That body spray smells masculine and the whipped/aloe cream is weird.

Thanks for reading, Michelle! Sorry FCS wasn’t for you.

This may sound like a silly question BUT it shows on the box photo that this was shipped first class and it clearly weighs over a pound! Doesn’t seem too legit to me! lol It does look like an awesome box and I live one town over so I know I would get it quick! The postage issue makes me pause tho

I counted 24 oz. in product weight alone. Definitely over the first class weight limit. I sell on a popular auction site and a craft site, and I wouldn’t ever try that for fear of the package being returned and having to eat the original postage cost, along with the cost to ship at the correct weight, and possibly an angry customer wanting to know where their package is. I also only ship liquids, such as perfumes, ground per USPS standards.

Missy

You are so right! Yeah that definitely makes me wonder!! Very fishy!!

Pam

I noticed the weights after I posted! I agree, I have a subscription box myself and get enough problems with Usps as it is. I would never risk delaying a shipment or having it returned. Shipping priority is expensive but also includes insurance which I’ve needed many times. It’s also cheating the system that she does that.!

Pamela

Maybe they are 2oz sizes of the products. They sell 2 oz on their website
