Valentine's Dinner French Culinary Spice Kit

This spice kit and recipe are extra fancy! The recipe calls for filet mignon, potatoes, and peas, but the spices are strictly for slow cooking that piece of meat. Honestly, I have never cooked filet mignon or even steak so this recipe makes me a bit nervous to tackle. The spice blends smell so fragrant and delicious so while I haven't cooked this recipe yet, I am going to save this for a special occasion.

The Valentine's Dinner culinary spice kit ingredients include green peppercorns and rosebud powder.

Enmoladas Mexican Culinary Spice Kit

These Enmoladas are made with a dark mole sauce. The sauce includes dark chocolate and almond butter. The remaining ingredients for this recipe are like a standard taco or enchilada with chicken, lettuce, rice, and tomato. I have to say, this recipe had me scared after reading what all goes into making the dark mole sauce. I decided to use this bold spice blend on our weekly taco recipe. More to come on that!

The Enmoladas culinary spice kit ingredients include ancho chili powder, pasilla chili powder, cinnamon, oregano, Guajillo chili powder.

Here is my baked chicken with the spice blend sprinkled on top. I marinated the chicken with the spice blend and olive oil before popping it into the oven.

SpiceBreeze February 2018 - 0027

Here is everything all plated for our weekly taco night! The spice blend was unlike anything that I have tasted in a taco. It was very rich and bold and the cinnamon brought about this really unique flavor. My husband said he didn't love the chicken as much as what I normally season our taco chicken with, but I thought it was a fun twist!

Doubles Trinidadian Culinary Spice Kit

Wow, this spice blend is so bold! The habanero chili pepper is so spicy, I could smell it once I opened the packet. This recipe card looked so unique to me with the pineapple chunks and chickpeas, I knew this was something I just had to cook right away. Scroll down to see how it turned out!

The Doubles Trinidadian culinary spike kit includes toasted cumin, amchoor, turmeric, yellow mustard, curry leaves, fenugreek, onion, ginger, coriander, cayenne, cilantro, garlic, cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, habanero chili pepper.

This dish is extremely simple, you really only have one thing to cook and then chop a few ingredients. I started by cooking down the chickpeas and mashing them lightly with a fork.

SpiceBreeze February 2018 - 0022

While the chickpeas were cooking, I chopped my cilantro, pineapple chunks, and cucumber. Then it was time to plate! I had some leftover chicken from the night before so I decided to add some of that to this wrap as well. Oh boy, was this dish delicious! The cucumber mixed with the pineapple made this so fresh. Then you get the hints of spice from the spice blend and it really wakes everything up. This dish is going to go into my weekly rotation!

Banh Mi Thit Vietnamese Culinary Spice Kit

My goodness, this recipe looks so amazing! This sandwich is packed with pork, cucumber, and carrots. The recipe card doesn't look too difficult and the spice blend has this bold, super spicy scent to it. Unfortunately, the spice kit notes that it comes with Sichuan pepper that is not recommended during pregnancy. Since I was newly pregnant when I was going through this month's spices, I decided to skip this recipe. However, my husband really wants me to cook this so I will either cook it just for him or save it for when I can enjoy as well!

The Banh Mi Thit Vietnamese culinary spice ingredients include annatto, black pepper, Sichuan pepper (not recommended during pregnancy), fennel, Vietnamese cinnamon, star anise, and cloves.

Verdict: I was pleasantly surprised with this month's SpiceBreeze! Many of the recipes really scared me because they were super extensive, but I was really happy with how everything came together. I loved the Double recipe and will be adding it to my recipe rotation. SpiceBreeze does such a great job bringing unique spice blends right to my door each month, and the recipes really push my cooking to the limits! Even though you do have to purchase your groceries for each recipe, at only $11.85 each month, you are getting quality spice blends and unique recipes that you can use over and over.

Is there a way to buy the spices a la carte so that you can recreate the recipes that you like?

There isn’t a way to buy singles, unfortunately.

This is such a great idea for a subscription! I’ve tried countless meal subscriptions and I find them expensive whereas with this one I can use what I already have and get ideas from the recipe cards!

It is great too because you can really move away from the recipe cards if you want to!
