Birchbox Give Me Some Lip ABH 1

Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in Ruby, Full Size - Retail Value $18

I loved the ABH liquid lipstick I got to try in this box, so I was excited to try this full-sized version. Since it is a matte it wasn't as creamy when applying the way I prefer my stick lipsticks, however once applied it is super comfortable and not drying (I did prep with a lip balm and lip scrub before going in, however). This isn't a good color for me— it wears too orange and brings out the red in my skin, but I would try this lipstick in a different version (especially Dusty Mauve— how gorgeous does that look!).

Bite Beauty Prismatic Multistick in Pink Pearl, .07 oz - Estimated Value $10.50 (buy the full-sized version here for $24)

In the tube, this lipstick reminded me a lot of the Nars Orgasm Lipstick, and I was surprised by the amount of peach shimmer this little stick packs. It was comfortable to wear, and I since this is a multi stick, I am thinking this would be gorgeous in an eyeshadow look.

Grande Cosmetics HydraPlump Semi-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Smoked Sherry, .09 oz - Estimated Value $16.25 (buy the full-sized version here for $25)

I got the full-size version of this lipstick in a different color in my New Beauty Spring Report Box, so I had some major reservations about trying this. However, the tingling action with this was only mildly uncomfortable (rather than downright painful), so that is already an improvement. I felt like the application was a bit patchy due to the formula, but I actually kept this lipstick on rather than wiping it off after a few minutes. The lipstick lasted through my Starbucks but it couldn't hang with my grilled cheese.

Kat Von D Beauty Studded Kiss Crème in Lovecraft, .04 oz - Estimated Value $6.33 (buy the full-sized version here for $19)

Kat Von D is my go-to liquid lipstick brand, and I had heard that they recently reformulated their studded kiss line. I actually have the liquid lipstick version of this shade, Lovecraft, and it is one of my most favorite lipsticks. This creme lipstick wasn't as drying as its liquid lipstick counterpart, but it also didn't last as long. I am thinking about layering this over my liquid lipstick for maximum comfort that will last forever— have any of Y'all tried that?

Birchbox Give Me Some Lip Tarte 1

tarte Rainforest of the Sea H2O gloss Lip Gloss in Bora Bora, 0.33 oz - Estimated Value $4.75 (buy the full-sized version here for $19)

This is a new lip gloss that I have seen promoted pretty heavily on social media, so I was excited to try it. While it looks clear in the tube it is actually a holographic pearl that wears as a light pink/lavender sparkle on me. This gloss wasn't too sticky and it was definitely shiny. The “glassy shine” is supposed to make my lips look “more luscious,” and I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Urban Decay Hi-Fi Lip Gloss in SPL, .03 oz - Estimated Value $2.86 (buy the full-sized version here for $20)

Alright, hold the phone. I thought I was getting just your basic sparkly pink lip gloss, so I applied it liberally and went to the mirror to see how it looked in natural lighting— and that is when the tingles started. Urban Decay threw some peppermint oil in this formula, which made me feel like I had rubbed a menthol stick on my lips. It wasn't an awful sensation, but it was certainly unexpected.  The sparkle is there without being in your face, but at this point in trying all the lippies, I was a little bored to find a third pink sparkly lip color.

The Verdict: If an orange-leaning red lipstick is your thing, or you really love pink sparkly lip looks, this kit is for you. I wish there had been a little more diversity in this kit— where is the fuchsia or purple? Since this kit is designed for the summer I wish the color selection was a little better, because summer is the season where I can be more adventurous with my lip shades. Sephora promised a value of $67 and by my calculations, they fall short, as my estimated value totals $58.69. Value-wise, this is still a great deal, and I am sure there are many people this lip kit will appeal to. I don't hate it, it just isn't my favorite.

To Wrap Up:

Good review – thanks! The colors aren’t for me but I’m definitely going to check out that H2O gloss. I was just in Sephora today (picked up some Fenty Beauty swag); I wish I had known about it.

The Tarte Rainforest definitely made your lips look more full IMHO. Would make a gorgeous lip topper! I love the ABH on you though! So pretty! Great review!
