Orglamix March 2018 Box

Orglamix is a vegan and cruelty-free beauty subscription containing loose shadows, glitter pigments, aromatherapy roll-ons, and more. Many of the items in the subscription will be unique to the subscription and not available in the Orglamix shop (although they will have the same great formula).

They are now doing custom box prints every month and they’re quite pretty.

Orglamix March 2018 “Bloom” Review

This month’s theme is “Bloom,” which is nice to think about when it’s still a bit cold here (but I can see flowers coming up):

The box came with an information card detailing the items and theme for March.

Orglamix March 2018 Liner

Noir Sol Cream Shadow – Listed Value $15

I thought this was an eyeliner at first (I am a “look at the stuff first, read the booklet as an afterthought” kind of person), since an eyeliner brush was also included, and this could totally be used as an eyeliner, but I am actually kind of glad it is listed as a cream shadow instead. It swatched out kind of a gray color on my arm (see below) which I think looks nice all over my lids, but it isn’t a color I’d reach for as a liner too often. As a shadow, the color is buildable (and primer makes a difference, too).

Orglamix March 2018 Brush

Eco Chic Bent Eyeliner Makeup Brush – Retail Value $8

I really need to use shadow as liner more often. There are always like those 3 or 4 super dark pans in a palette that I would never put all over my lids (I am pale and am constantly in danger of looking too Goth-y for work…) but that would make great eyeliner colors. I am just really messy with the application. At any rate, I am glad to have this brush to practice with as most of my brushes tend to be larger and this one is suitable for a more precise application. (So far, it seems to be of decent quality, as well.)

Orglamix March 2018 Toner

Orange Blossom AHA Floral Toner – Listed Value $15

For what it’s worth, a lot of the items in the box are usually exclusive to the box and that is true for this toner as well. It’s like the people at Orglamix were reading my mind, though, as I have like a millimeter of toner left in my current bottle and I needed a new one. This has a lovely floral smell and seems to agree with my skin so far (inasmuch as I can tell after only two uses). I always use SPF 40 sunscreen under my makeup and I’d suggest you do so as well, with this product, since it does have alpha hydroxy acids in it. (I don’t like to wear floral fragrances in perfume but love them in bath/body/skincare items like this.)

Orglamix March 2018 Scrub

Lavender Baie Sugar Balm Body Scrub – Listed Value $16

I love scrubs, and I go through them super fast. (I buy Tree Hut branded ones at Publix so it’s no big financial hit, but I still get excited to see them in subscription boxes…) This has a really soothing lavender smell which is great since I shower at night and it helps me relax a bit. Plus, as a sugar scrub (instead of salt) it doesn’t irritate if it gets in shaving nicks. This will be gone in a week or two!

Orglamix March 2018 Shadow

Mint Julep Natural Eyeshadow – Listed Value $12.50

This color is exclusive to the box, but the value from the information card matches the values from the other shadows on the Orglamix site. It was a little late for St. Patrick’s Day when this arrived but I guess the name also works for the Kentucky Derby, which is in early May! Anyway, I like this color. It matches several items in my wardrobe, plus the formula blends well and doesn’t irritate my eyes.

Orglamix March 2018 Swatches

Here are swatches of the cream shadow and loose mineral eyeshadow.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $66.50 for the March Orglamix subscription box. Only one of the items was in their shop, so I had to rely a lot on the information card, but I think the values were at least consistent with similar items in the shop (for example, the green eyeshadow). I thought the box had a nice mix of skincare, bath/body items, and color cosmetics, and the brush is particularly useful to me as it is one of the few types of brushes I don't already have a ton of.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  No, this was March's box and they typically ship around the 10th, so you’d most likely get the April box as your first one.

Value Breakdown: At $29 per box, here’s approximately what you are paying per item:

  • Cream eyeshadow $6.54
  • Brush $3.49
  • Toner $6.54
  • Scrub $6.98
  • Loose eyeshadow $5.45

That box is beautiful! I admire how they carried the pattern over to the products. I can’t subscribe to another beauty box… but I wonder if I could put it on my birthday wishlist and get lucky.
