Nickelodeon Wallykazam! Wally's Best Friends - Retail Value $6.60

My First Reading Club often includes Nickelodeon affiliated books. My nearly 6-month-old is not yet familiar with any of the monthly book selection's featured TV shows, Wallykazam! included, so I did a little research. It turns out that Wally Trollman is an adventurous 6-year-old troll with a power that lets him make words come to life using a magic stick. Wally uses those words to transform the world around him by creating objects that start with the same letter as the first letter in the word he has animated. I love the educational leanings, and Wally is super cute! This board book set comes in a handy velcro case with 4 stories inside:

  • Wally Trollman
  • Ogre Doug and Libby
  • Bobgoblin and Gina Giant
  • Norville

Each character is illustrated beautifully, and their personalities really shine. Each book serves as a character introduction. What really makes them super adorable are the vibrant illustrations! Yellow, teal, bright green, purple, and red hues take over each page. I just may have to check out the show!

Baby's First Easter - Retail Value $7.99

This book arrived just in the knick of time for Easter. At first, I was disappointed that it carried such a seasonal message -- would we never get use out of this later on? However, the pages are so colorful and illustrations so cute that I know that we'll be reading it all year. I love that many of its pages feature foil details, and the cover even has some glitter. Really makes it feel special! My baby seemed to agree -- he was quite interested.

Sesame Street Elmo's Tricky Tongue Twisters - Retail Value $4.99

I love this book! So many of the characters brought me back. Again, my infant has not yet been introduced to Sesame Street, but he still seemed to be entertained by the fun rhyming in these pages -- and I can't wait until he has his own favorite Sesame Street character. This book is pretty compact, so it's a good one to toss into a diaper back for on-the-go entertainment.

ESA Almond Hand & Body Lotion, 1.28 oz - Retail Value $0.33 (buy a case of 200 for $66.00)

This lotion is nice and light, and I love the almond scent. It's a little sweet, but it's super pleasant for someone like me that loves almond and vanilla-like smells. I still don't fully understand the "mom gift" thing, but a little extra treat is always welcome.

Verdict: I was pleasantly surprised by this month's My First Reading Club box. I love that this box is always so great about including a book selection that's relevant to holidays and seasonality, and the Easter board book was a favorite. Plus you can't go wrong with Sesame Street!

The value of this month's books comes in at $19.91. With a subscription cost of $9.99 + $7 shipping, the value is decent. For avid young readers who want to build their library on a monthly basis, I really enjoyed the curated selection this month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Get May's box here (ships on 4/28).

I don’t think this was ever addressed. I contacted the company and yes the price has increased. It’s $21.99 per month plus shipping.
