Mommy Mailbox April 2018 Review

Each box comes with a card detailing the month’s products and brands. The theme this month is “Indulge” and the box was curated by the team behind a brand new subscription box, My Zodiac Box (our review is coming soon!).

Sweet Water Decor Rose Gold Pen - Retail Value $14.99

It’s been a long time since I actually cared about what my pens looked like (did anyone else go through the gel pen, metallic pen phase in middle school?), but this was a nice and practical gift to receive. Pens and chapstick are the two things that I know I have a million of, but still can’t ever seem to find when I need them!

It felt so fancy to have a pen in its own special box and I love the rose gold color. There was no engraving on this pen which I actually liked. It’s sleek and shiny and writes smoothly with black ink. While I would never actually pay this much for a pen, it was a great fit for the Indulge theme.

Fatty Sundays Chocolate Covered Pretzels in Cinnamon Sugar

Fatty Sundays Chocolate Covered Pretzels in Cinnamon Sugar - Retail Value $3.49

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with chocolate covered pretzels. I love that these are flavored too! There wasn’t a ton of chocolate on them so they weren’t overwhelmingly sweet. The chocolate, cinnamon and sugar combination was delicious on top of the salty pretzel. I’d definitely buy these for an indulgent treat!

Gwen Rose Gold Bar Studs by Robyn Rhodes - Retail Value $45.00

These earrings are handmade and plated in 14k rose gold. The posts are made from hypoallergenic surgical steel. They are very simple, just a plain rose gold bar that is about a ½ inch long. I really thought that I would like these, but I actually felt the bar was a little too thick and a little too long. They felt awkward in my ears. Also, the backing really took away from the sleekness of these for me. It felt very out of place since it was large and silver. I do like that these are handcrafted, but the retail value still feels a bit high to me.

Formulary 55 Sparkling Bath Fizzy In Gardenia Blossoms

Formulary 55 Sparkling Bath Fizzy In Gardenia Blossoms - Retail Value $6.00

These bath tablets are made with ground Dead Sea salts and essential oils. When I first opened up my box this month, the scent of this hit me immediately. It smells so good! Very light and lemony.

Unfortunately, I’m only a few days post-partum at the moment so I can’t enjoy a nice, relaxing bath quite yet, but I’m really looking forward to when I can use this! For now, the pretty flower packaging makes for a nice accent on my bathroom shelf and since it has a fairly strong scent, I can appreciate the aroma from there!

Glow for a Cause Body Butter in Dream (2.5 oz) - Retail Value $16.00

This body butter has a lot of natural skin nourishing ingredients: coconut, jojoba and sunflower oils plus vitamin E. It was very thick and felt luxurious on my skin. It absorbed well and left my skin feeling soft after using only a small amount. It smells floral with a little bit of musky vanilla but isn’t overly strong. It reminded me of the Dream Angels scent from Victoria’s Secret which I used to love.

Verdict: I truly enjoyed this month’s Mommy Mailbox theme of Indulge. While the earrings were a miss for me, I still felt like all of the products were a great way to do just that. Luxurious body butter and bath fizzy, a tasty chocolate treat and two shiny rose gold accessories. The total retail value of the box this month came to $85.48 and while I do think the price of the earrings is a bit inflated, I still consider this a great value for the $33.95 cost of the box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
