Meowbox March 2018 Review

Meowbox has a lot of exclusive toys that are usually pretty popular with my cats. From my perspective, it’s nice to see some things that don’t turn up in other cat subscription boxes:

The information card typically just gives a URL for finding out more information about the items in the box. The picture is adorable, as usual. This month had a sushi theme.

Wasabi Wool Ball from Animalove

Wasabi Wool Ball from Animalove – Retail Value $5.99

This seems a little expensive for a wool ball, BUT Animalove toys are always expensive (they’re imported from Canada) and Angus absolutely adores them. I’ve already had to take this away from him a few times as he’s brought it downstairs and I’m afraid Nyx is going to get ahold of it.

Yappetizers Dehydrated Salmon (25g)

Yappetizers Dehydrated Salmon (25g) – Retail Value $5

OK, these are really big pieces of dehydrated salmon. Usually, my cats don’t like treats like this because they can’t eat them. But I found that I actually was able to break little pieces off of this and both Sneaky and Madison ate some. (See what it looks like in some of the kitty photos below.)

Doorknob Sushi Swatter

Doorknob Sushi Swatter – Retail Value $6.99

This has a little elastic loop by which you can hang it from a doorknob, but my cats like it better as an interactive toy (as in, they’ll go after the feather on the end if I drag this around on the floor). Well, whatever works!

Edameowme Catnip Plush

Edameowme Catnip Plush – Retail Value $6.99

This is kind of like four toys in one, as you can remove the balls from the shell part if you want (they’re held in place upon arrival by little plastic connectors). I think the faces on this toy (as with most Meowbox exclusives) are absolutely adorable. Angus already likes this a lot (he’s my youngest, by far, so he gets the most out of the toys).

Nom Nom Nigiri Catnip Plush 2-Pack

Nom Nom Nigiri Catnip Plush 2-Pack – Retail Value $6.99

Here are more exclusive Meowbox catnip plushes with adorable faces. These little toys tend to be popular for months after the box arrives. I caught Sneaky playing with one from last summer, the other day. So far, my cats’ reaction to these have been positive and I look forward to seeing them turn up in various places around my house (hopefully upstairs, away from the dog) in the coming months.

Gratuitous kitty photos ahead:

Sneaky inspects a toy.

But her true love is food. (I let her bite this for the photo but I broke pieces off and she ate those, too.)

Madison liked the feather on the end of the dangler.

He has such a big head. It really shows in this photo, I think.

Mr. Kitty spent most of the weekend in this little bed in the bathroom. It’s his new spot, I guess.

At least he sniffed a toy. That’s more of a reaction than I usually get!

Monkey wasn’t really interested in eating this, but he sure did like smelling it.

Angus with his new love.

Angus goes after the dangler.

Angus sniffs the treat, and then he bites it.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $31.96 for the March Meowbox. I am always happy to get small catnip plushes, as those tend to be my cats’ favorite items, and Angus especially loves the Animalove felt toys. The treats were better received than I would’ve expected, as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? From MeowBox:

We will send you a box full of goodies for your cat on the next business day, and then the 15th of every month after that.

  • Wool ball $4.30
  • Salmon treats $3.59
  • Doorknob dangler $5.02
  • Edamame toy $5.02
  • Sushi toys $5.02

As someone who recently lost their elderly pet with a ton of health issues (mine was a horse) I kinda want to just buy Mr. Kitty all the toys and and them to him. I know how it feels when your pet is getting up there and so rarely takes an interest in toys/treats/etc so even a little sniff or nibble at one is cause for a celebration.

I recently found out that Mr. Kitty can eat small amounts of tuna-flavored things without issue, so he now gets a little of the Inaba Ciao Churu tuna puree after every meal. (He has bad teeth, but that’s smooth so he can eat it.) I have never seen him so happy.

Sorry about your horse.
