Lipstick Junkie March 2018 Review

This month is all about welcoming spring with bright and fresh colors.

Lipstick Junkie March 2018 - Starlooks

Starlooks “Artisan” Liquid Eye Liner - .1 oz Retail Value $12

This eye liner wasn’t listed on the info card but I think it is a fun inclusion in the box. This is part of Starlooks PerfectSize Cosmetics line which offers makeup at 70% of full size for convenience. I like the rich metallic blue shade and that the formula glides on easily without skipping and lasts throughout the day. The tiny brush takes a bit of practice to get a perfect line and you can see I didn’t quite get there in this look. I’m working on it though.

Lipstick Junkie March 2018 - Manna Lipstick Junkie March 2018 - Manna Open

Manna Kadar Prime Time - Retail Value $24

I’m not really excited about seeing this in the box. I’ve received this before in other boxes and I’m just not impressed with the formula. It feels thick and chalky on my eyelids and I can’t imagine using it on my face. I will say, it helps keep my eyeshadow from creasing but I think there are more comfortable primers out there. If you like a full-coverage look and need a heavy duty primer, this might be worth a try for you.

Appeal Cosmetics Luxurious Lipstick in Spank Me - Retail Value $29.01

Whoa, pink! This is so bright and springy. I like it more than I thought I would once I put it on. The formula is very balm-like except that it is opaque and lasts for quite a while. It fades evenly and leaves a pint tint on my lips without ever feeling dry or cakey. I really want to try some other (maybe more neutral) shades from this line.

AlexAnne Beauty Fierce Liquid Lips in Roughneck - Retail Value $10

This liquid lip is super shiny and highly pigmented. It doesn’t dry down like a typical liquid lip but stays glossy and keeps lips moisturized. The copper-rose color stays on for a long time and even after the shine is gone, it leaves a pretty tint on my lips.

Coastal Scents Lip Quads in Passion Berry - Retail Value $6.95

How fun to have a lip palette included. This quad includes 4 berry toned shades that work alone or together for many different looks. The included brush isn’t the best but I find that the colors apply easily with my fingers. They glide on semi-sheer and feel kind of waxy, leaving a little bit of sheen. Above I’ve applied the first and third color to create a subtle ombre look. I like that these dry down after a while and leave a good bit of color that remains smooth looking.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $81.96. I’m pretty happy with all of the lip shades this month and can see myself wearing them throughout spring. The formulas did not disappoint either. I was happy to see the inclusion of the eyeliner but wasn’t so excited about the Manna Kadar primer. I think that if you like to play around with lip color and like to try new brands you may not find yourself then this box is a good value. It probably isn’t suited for someone who likes only neutral tones.

Do subscribers have any choices with their monthly offerings?

Just FYI, Coastal Scents is at best questionably cruelty free. They aren’t forthright about their animal testing policy and they ship to China.

They aren’t shipping the box any longer which she reviewed. I don’t think Coastal Scents is nearly as bad as some brands made in China. ( Be a Bombshell comes to mind).

The key is whether or not they sell their cosmetics in China. China law requires all cosmetics sold in their country to be tested on animals. If a company has their cosmetics made in China but do not sell in China they may be cruelty-free, but not the other way around.

Tiffany, did you try the primer on your lips since you didn’t like it on the eyes?

Tiffany,
I have been on the fence about this subscription until I saw your review this month. You look beautiful. 🙂

Tiffany, I just want to let you know that I really appreciate your makeup reviews. You always do a great job showing off the makeup in good lighting, and really give a clear image of what those colors look like. Thank you!
