BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review – April 2018
BoxyCharm is a full-size beauty and makeup subscription box. They always provide a great value compared the cost of the box. (If you are a makeup addict – I HIGHLY recommend this box!)
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: BoxyCharm
The Cost: $21 a month
The Products: 5-6 beauty items that will include nail care, skin care, makeup, haircare, fragrance and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized).
Ships to: US and Canada
Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.
And subscribers also get exclusive discounts for Dr. Brandt and Tarte this month:
Now, time for the items!
Dr. Brandt- Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner Purifying Mask – Value Listed $47 (New Retail Value $42)
(FYI – it looks like the retail price of this product changed from $47 to $42 since it was announced as a spoiler in the box. All subscribers will receive this)
This mask is designed to help reduce excess oil and declog pores. You apply a thin layer to clean skin, let sit for 5-10 minutes, then remove with warm water. It has a soothing, cooling sensation, and I love that you only need to use this for 5 minutes to get results. (Yes to speedy masks!)
My skin felt smoother after removing it, and the oiliness was gone. I’ve had good results with other Dr. Brandt products with reducing blackheads, so I’m excited to add this to the mix.
(FYI – the cooling sensation lasted even after I removed the mask. I like it, but I know that might not be for everyone, so I wanted to mention it!)
BrowGal Instatint Eyebrow Gel in Light Hair 03 – Retail Value $22
(Colors will vary)
This is a tinted gel mousse with micro fibers designed to give the appearance of fuller brows. I really like the formula – you can really natural looking, tamed brows. And no worries about over doing it!
Sadly, this shade is too light for my brows. Almost every brow product I get in a subscription box is perfect for my dark brown brows, though, so hopefully some lighter brow subscribers finally got a brow product they could use!
(Swatched in lower photo.)
MAC Liptensity Lipstick in Burnt Violet – Retail Value $21
(Subscribers will either receive this or Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow highlighter.)
This is a bold lipstick with excellent pigment (practically opaque coverage in one swipe.) The formula has a satin finish, and it wears down well. (It’s a little too dark for me, though.)
Here it is swatched above the brow gel:
ColourPop Element of Surprise Palette – Retail Value $16
(Subscribers will receive 1 of 5 ColourPop palettes)
This palette features eyeshadows with matte, metallic, satin, and duochrome finishes.
My favorite shade is Rayon in the upper right corner. It’s a metallic dark coral with blue-green duochrome. It’s the first one swatched here:
In general, these have great pigment and are easy to blend. I love the colors and the variety of finishes. I noticed a little fallout when applying, though, so a heads up there!
SL Miss Glam Shadow Brush Duo – Retail Value $38.50
(These are a variant item. Check out the spoilers to see what else you may receive.)
These brushes are so pretty! I love the pastel colors and the bonus bling! They are made for Boxycharm, too:
The pink brush is for applying eyeshadow, and the purple brush is for blending:
Verdict: This box has a value of about $144.50! As always, the value for Boxycharm is amazing! Even though the lipstick and the eyebrow gel aren’t the right colors for me, I’m still very happy with this box. I love the palette, the brush duo, and in my opinion you can’t go wrong with full-size Dr. Brandt in a box!
I think Boxycharm is a perfect subscription for people who love makeup. You’re going to get a lot of palettes, highlighters, etc., so it’s great if you want to build your collection and try all the things! (If you only need one highlighter/palette in your makeup arsenal, this might not be the best box for you.)
