Bath Bevy Mermaid Kisses & Starfish Wishes April 2018 Review

This box included an info sheet with details on the products, plus exclusive coupons to the included brands!

Georgia Charm Cosmetics Starfish Bath Bomb, 8 oz

Georgia Charm Cosmetics Starfish Bath Bomb, 8 oz - Estimated Value $6.50

This Starfish bath bomb is SO COOL. It’s a big hefty bomb, and it made some great bath art. As it really started to dissolve it starting spinning in a circle, and I really just enjoyed looking at it. The vanilla and coconut scent really evoked scents of the beach, too!

Nature’s Whimsey Sea Goddess Sugar Body Scrub, 4 oz

Nature’s Whimsey Sea Goddess Sugar Body Scrub, 4 oz - Retail Value $9.50

When I opened this, I got so excited because it reminded me of foam! I love the gorgeous mix of colors (paired with an adorable starfish soap in the middle of the jar), and this mandarin, melon, and coconut scented scrub was really hydrating with gentle exfoliation. This whole jar will be used to the last drop!

Mes Amies Soaps Siren Bath Soak, 2 oz

Mes Amies Soaps Siren Bath Soak, 2 oz - Estimated Value $2 (buy a 10 oz bag for $9.97)

Oohhh boy. This soak. I was so excited to take a relaxing bath. I lit the salty mermaid kisses candle and placed it in the corner of my bathtub, filled the tub up with hot water, and sprinkled the bag into the water. The salts dissolved almost instantly, leaving a slight grey tinge to the water, and that's when I noticed that when they included hibiscus as the ingredient list, they didn't just mean as the scent— they meant actual flowers.

My relaxing mood immediately ran away as I stared at my bathtub picturing the clean-up that would be necessary when the last of the water drained away. This is the kind of bath soak I would place in an organza bag first before using, and I wish the description was a bit more clear. Since the salts were black I couldn't see the actual flowers mixed in. Also, I really couldn't discern a noticeable scent in this bath soak which really made me question if the hibiscus flowers were even necessary.

Feeling Smitten You’re Mer-mazing Bath Bomb, 6.4 oz

Feeling Smitten You’re Mer-mazing Bath Bomb, 6.4 oz - Retail Value $6

This Epsom salt fizzer turned my bathwater blue and came with a clamshell toy ring! This really is a bath bomb of fun. I couldn't really figure out what it smelled like, and there was no scent description to help me out. It was a pleasant scent, but after that, my nose couldn't help me anymore. Considering this box included a 25% off coupon for this brand, I may be buying more of these fun bombs.

Sink and Soak Mermaid Tails and Starfish Wishes Soap Set - Estimated Value $4 (based on the approximate weight of soaps compared to other soaps available from the shop)

These soaps are pretty to look at and the scent is lovely. The mermaid tail soap is scented with citrus, coconut, and cucumber, and the starfish soap is scented with mango and papaya. They are very delicate, however, and I was worried about them breaking just when I was handling them to take photos. I don't see these soaps lasting long before crumbling once water is added to the mix.

4 The Love of Candles Salty Mermaid Kisses Soy Candle - Estimated Value $10

I was so happy to see this gorgeous candle! I love candles, and this is the first candle I have that has GLITTER throughout it. This candle is scented with sea salt, mango, and papaya, and the scent itself is very light and not too strong. I prefer my candles to have a bit of a stronger scent, but this candle is perfect for placing in the corner of my bathtub before settling in for a relaxing soak! Value wise I wasn't too sure how to estimate this candle, because all of the candles available for sale at 4 The Love of Candles are bigger and contain two wicks. This little guy is a 1 wick candle, so I estimated a value of $10 considering the 2 wick candles are priced at $16.

Bonus: Bath Bevy Matches

Also included is a small box of matches! I can always use more matches, so I was happy to see these included for the candle.

Verdict: I was so excited for my first Bath Bevy box, and I honestly don't feel like it lived up to the hype. I really loved the candle and bath bombs, but the soap and the soak were a bit of a letdown. I thought the curation of products was really great, and I liked that some of the products were Bath Bevy exclusives. I calculated an approximate value of $38 (not including the bonus), which is barely more than the $38.95 cost of the box, but less than the cost of the box + shipping ($42.95). Part of the appeal of this box is that it supports small businesses and Etsy shops, which I am totally behind. However, in the next months, I would like to see that value come up.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No, you will receive the May box. From Bath Bevy:

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Jessica, I’d been on the fence about this box. Reading that you didn’t feel it quite lived up to the hype got me to go back and really LOOK at the sizes and types of products, not just the ” cute” factor, and as a result, I didn’t subscribe to this box but did choose another you reviewed in April.

Keep on being true and honest, girl. It’s quite admirable. 🙂

I love your bath box reviews. Once again I have a new Etsy shop to find as the Georgia Charm looks so fun! I also love the toy ring in the other bath bomb and think that would make a great gift for my daughters friends.

Thanks Jennifer! That starfish bath bomb was really epic, and I almost felt bad not having a bigger bath tub to give it more room
