Now, on to the items!

NUDESTIX Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm in color J Mama – FULL SIZE! Value $24

(FYI – this is the same size as the full-size version, so I’m using the full-size value, but it doesn’t come with the tin packaging + sharpener that you’d get if you purchased this.)

I LOVE Nudestix lip crayons! They are so creamy and moisturizing, and they easily glide on your lips, too. This shade is a very wearable dusty rose.

Here it is swatched:

It provides a good amount of pigment and shine – this is perfect for me on my low to no makeup days.

Korres Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturizer – 20 ml Value $17

(Good to know for swaps – this item has a foil seal.)

This is half the size of the full-size version, and I actually prefer this size since it comes in a tube and not a jar.

The formula is a gel/creme designed for oily or combination skin. I found it to be very lightweight, and it absorbed quickly, too. It’s hydrating, not greasy at all, ingredient-conscious, and the scent is fantastic! A+ for me!

Rahua Conditioner – 22ml  Value $2.88

(Good to know for swaps – this item has a foil seal.)

Rahua is an ingredient-conscious natural beauty brand that is luxe (AKA pricey), so I’m always happy to see it in a subscription box since I usually don’t splurge on hair care otherwise.

And I appreciate that they included both a shampoo and conditioner:

Rahua Shampoo – 22ml Value $2.72

(Good to know for swaps – this item has a foil seal.)

The formulas are made with organic ingredients, and the natural scents are light and clean. This set was good for 2 uses for me, and I appreciate that it is color-safe, too.

Stellar Brilliant Primer – 7 ml Value $7.42

This brand is new to me, and I’m a fan! First, this tube is completely full! It should last at least for 2 weeks. The formula gave my skin an incredibly smooth base to apply makeup, and the subtle pink shimmer added the faintest glow.

The Original MakeUp Eraser Mini – Sample?

I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen a cloth sample in a subscription box. It’s a little…weird.

This measures approximately 3.5 X 3.5 inches.

If you haven’t sampled Makeup Eraser before, it’s pretty amazing. It’s a microfiber towel that is designed to help remove makeup with just warm water. I’ve used this before thanks to other subscription boxes, and it completely removed all my makeup with ease. And you wash the material in the laundry which is great.

But getting a raw edge cloth isn’t really a reusable product, it’s more of a one-time use to see how it works. Feels a little wasteful and disappointing.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $54.02 not counting the value of the Makeup Eraser (because I’m not sure how to value that). I think that’s a great value, and this box included some of my favorite brands and one new favorite – I’m very impressed with the product quality. Makeup Eraser issues aside, I love everything else in this box, so I’m happy!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. According to the Allure Beauty Box, the April box is sold out. Your first box will be the May Box. (Check out the spoilers!)

Coupon: Use this link to save $5 and get a free mystery beauty item with your first box! (Mystery item may ship separately.)

Value Breakdown: At $15 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • NUDESTIX: $6.66
  • Korres: $4.72
  • Conditioner: $.80
  • Shampoo: $.76
  • Stellar Primer: $2.06

  1. I went to marshalls today and they had full size makeup erasers for 7.99. I thought I would share in case someone wanted to try a a full size.

  2. My hair loved the shampoo/conditioner…they work really well together. And I didn’t really mind the masculine fragrance. I smell spicy citrus w/ a hint of licorice and it didn’t seem overwhelming to me at all. My samples were full, and I got a good two uses out of them. Not bad. I’m even considering purchasing the conditioner sometime in the future.

  3. I am hoping for more makeup products. What happened to eye shadows and blush? They never seem to be included. The shampoo and conditioner smelled very bad. I tried it and was disappointed. The nudestix color was perfect for me though. The eraser didn’t work and left pink fuzzies. It felt gross, didn’t clean my face. The moisturizer and primer feel nice but one of them made me break out I still am hopeful the boxes will improve as they hear our feedback. I want to give the beauty editor a chance. In terms of saving costs, I like the current boxes and didn’t think they need a redesign, unless the redesign saves money. I also don’t need a printed booklet and don’t need a bag to put the makeup in. I appreciate the Marc Jacobs full-size eyeliner for my loyalty. Thank you!

  4. Last month I received the wrong Makeup Forever foundation. I emailed Allure and they said they would replace it with the right color in 10 business days. It has been 24 days and i still havent gotten it. I know a few of you guys did the same thing. Can anyone tell me if they have received their replacement?

    • Yes! I got mine a few days around my April box. I called 2 times regarding it. I would call them again. I call them every 2-3 weeke until I get the product.

      • Thank you so much

    • I did, I received my replacement about 3 days ago. Maybe give them a call to check if it was sent out yet.

      • Thank you . It’s good to know that someone got the replacement.

  5. This April box was the worst waste of money! The only useful item to me was the Nudestix. I wish they would stop including shampoo. If the boxes don’t improve I’m canceling! I’m tired of primers and moisturizer for oily skin doesn’t work for me.

  6. I am cancelling Allure….SOOOOOO disappointed AGAIN!

As a person of color, there is rarely any MAKEUP that works for me…….

  7. Ditto

I am cancelling Allure….SOOOOOO disappointed AGAIN!

As a person of color, there is rarely any MAKEUP that works for me…….

  8. There IS absolutely NOTHING special about the makeup remover cloth. NOTHING. It’s just a microfiber towel. That’s it. You can buy them for a couple of bucks at Walmart or buy a huge bag in the auto department for $10 and have a fresh clean one every day… sure, they may be blue and not double sided but you’ll get the same results and save a lot of money!

The thing that truly ticks me off about this box is the false advertisement of it and the false price value it was advertised at. $74 value MA!!!
That lip crayon may be the full sized crayon but it is not a full size product. It does come with a sharpener and a mirrored tin. Not a $24 value.
Then they have enough nerve to say that there’s a $20 cloth in the box?
I took others advice and called. Talk about a nasty woman!!! Oh WOW!!! I had to hang up and call back because the customer service person would not stop repeating over and over continueously,”That is to a full size crayon. That is too a full size product. You are wrong.” Repeat…… Next call, point blank, I need a supervisor please and why. She would never transfer me until I mentioned false advertisement, the BBB and disputing the charges as fraudulent transaction. Falsely advertised.
I’m did not ask for anything other than STOP THE VARIATIONS PLEASE. Also, your customer service is $#!+!.
I would cancel but my girls are looking forward to the Kat Von D box…. I could hear others in the background. Obviously most subscribers are not happy this month. Some are being shipped new boxes. Some are getting discounts on their subs and some are getting a refund on the April box.

  9. Soooo. Makeup eraser must have seen all the bad reviews because I just got an email that said since I signed up for a free mini sample yesterday, they are giving away free full size cloths and you only need to pay shipping for the first 5000 people. Here’s the thing- shipping is TEN DOLLARS !!!! How can it be that much for shipping when it’s so lightweight ??? So I didn’t get one. But if anyone else is interested GO NOW. LOL.

    • Is there some kind of discount code needed? Thanks 😊

      • The code is 5000FREE

  10. The only product I was excited about in this box was the Makeup Eraser. I put up with the disappointment of last month’s box to hold out for this, only to get this scrap of material. What the heck, Allure? How do you go from sending our full size SR serums to this???

  11. I’m liking the Korres.

    That stuff is nice.

  12. I haven’t received my box yet, but I’ll probably pop the makeup eraser in my handbag to clean my glasses. I have a large clue microfiber hand towel that I currently use for them and it works great! No sprays or towelettes required!

    • that’s a really great idea, thank you for mentioning it! i’m going to put it n my bag now! 🙂

  13. I was okay with the box. Loved loved loved the lip pencil. It may be the best nude color for my complexion, and formula, I’ve ever found. I don’t use conditioner all that often because I use a leave in conditioner on my curly hair so I’ll toss that, but the smell doesn’t bother me. I was disappointed the magic eraser wasn’t full size. I had one before and loved it, but it got left in Texas when I was visiting family. So I gave this one to my daughter to use as a blanket for her little figures. She loves it. Always love trying new primers.

  14. Totally agree on the make up eraser sample. Especially since the same exact sample is now available free on their website 🙄 only time I’ve been disappointed with the allure beauty box.

  15. Well, reading through the comments, it seems like I am in the minority with this box. I actually like it It is the one I wanted when the spoilers came out so I’m happy it’s the one I got. I’m excited to try the Korres & Stellar product. I love the Nudestix lippie. And, I don’t mind the smell of the shampoo & conditioner, plus I’m going on vacation soon so I’ll be taking them along. The only thing that I think is weird in the box is the makeup eraser. I’ve received the actual mini before, but this one is just too tiny to use.

  16. My labeled conditioner bottle was also shampoo and I was not happy. Never had this happen before. I realizes glitches in production happen but still. BUT that primer!! Oh my it’s good stuff. love the pink glow!! I just looked healthier after I put it on.

    • Oh my goodness, I’ve never seen that sort of mistake before either. LOL! Now I need to check mine.

  17. This is my first Allure box. I was reading all these comments and wondering if this is the first month that allure hasn’t sent the same box to everyone? I see there were 3 different variations this month. Is that how it usually goes?

  18. I subbed through Amazon, and I got a fold-up Wet Brush instead of the Makeup Eraser scrap. At first, I was kinda bummed, until I realized they did not include a mini like advertised. But, I already have one, and my daughter loves the brush, so it worked out for me. I got the version with the squalene retinol lotion and the DE sunscreen otherwise.

    • I was confused and disappointed at first by my fold up wet brush too! But after seeing this weird “sample” makeup eraser I’m glad I got it!

    • Kind of makes me want to try it through Amazon as well and see if I pick up any of the variants.

I subbed in the regular way a few years ago, and my boxes pretty much match the ad in Allure Magazine.

  19. The lipstick doesn’t show up on me at all. It looks so much brighter on the people I saw wearing it. I thought maybe I got a bad one because it’s like a lip balm on me-a lot of moisture but no color at all

    • THIS is exactly me too! It feels very nice on my lips–but I cannot see it at all..unless it slips onto my skin then of course it shows LOL! Really weird as I am very light complexion and would have thought it would show nicely…but it is more of a balm to me too 🙁

    • Same here. I’m pale but my lips are not.

Kind of washed me out a little.

  20. I was really interested to try the biossance and like most others got box 1. I went on their website and they have a few sample bundles to choose from with that include 2 deluxe samples for $5 shipped. It was worth it to me!

I’m not even upset by getting box 1 either, i really wanted to try the korres as well!

    • Do you mind if I ask Allure website or allure beauty box website. Off to check both. And thank you!

      • The biossance website 🙂

  21. Did anyone actually get the second or third variation. Seems like everyone I’ve seen has gotten the first one.

    • I got both the 2nd and the 3rd. The second variation came on my account I set up in March and the third came in a new account I set up in April.

    • I got the second variation. This is only my 2nd month with Allure, so that goes towards the theory that they send boxes 2 and 3 to newer subscribers.

    • I have 2 subscriptions in the hopes I would get different boxes. I got 2 of the 1st variation! I’m really annoyed with Allure.

  22. I recently emailed to unsubscribe-the only way to unsubscribe right now that I’m aware of (I have almost too many subs and this one was the one that didn’t make the cut. I don’t feel like I’m getting a better value for the $15 price tag. I did get my first 3 for $10 though, so I felt like it was on par with the other $10 subs. This was my 4th month and first I spent $15 on!) and they responded with a 4 months at $10 deal (which I’ve heard is what they offer to those who want to cancel!) My email just said “I’d like to unsubscribe, or pause my subscription if possible. I may resubscribe at a later date.

So for all of you who think this box sub isn’t worth the value, are considering unsubscribing, but won’t mind paying $10 a month for it, give it a shot!

And yes, I took the 4 for $10 offer, because it is like getting more than a whole box for free if you stick around for 4 months.

    • I called and wasn’t offered the deal. I cancelled 😕 Two months in a row that I got the worst variation. Not using any of it. 😐

  23. This box is on its way to me and minus the makeup eraser I’m gonna be fine with it. It will be my 3rd Nudestix. I happen to really like them and already have the sharpener for it. Someone asked how to sharpen it and I’m sure you could just use a large eye sharpener.

  24. Got this box as well. I will use the Korres and pass along everything else- so I was kinda bummed. The next day they sent me a thank you for being a subscriber gift of 2 Paula’s choice items! I got a vitamin c serum and a tint to add to moisturizers- so that made up for me 😊

  25. I actually tried to use the super tiny makeup eraser as I have never tried it. Ugh. It was so small I could barely handle it and it didn’t take my makeup off sufficiently. I didn’t think it felt good to against my skin either. Went right into the trash. What a waste.

    • The Sephora brand ones are better imo and when I bought mine it came with two in the package.

    • I have a larger one from another sub box and I may be the minority but I do not like it. The texture feels odd to me..look 70’s velour pantsuit or something. My makeup discolored it immediately and no amount of washing can make it look clean…I feel weird using something that always looks dirty to clean my face.

  26. I liked the box! I love the full sized lip pencil and am intrigued by the primer. Happy to have a new moisturizer to try for my oily skin. To me, for $5 more, I enjoy this more than Sephora.

  27. Everyone can get that sample free on the Makeup eraser website right now with free shipping too

    • : /

  28. I was really hoping to get box 2or 3. Happy to see my Allure box in the mailbox today. However, I could smell the shampoo through the box. I guess people really like it or they don’t. I really dislike the scent. After getting the mail had to get kids from school. Both kids asked what smelled so bad. The shampoo and conditioner are now in a ziploc on the counter. The rest of the box looks good. I already have a makeup eraser. Will toss the Barbie version.

    • Hi Valerie, I had the same experience! I opened the box and the smell was overwhelming! I placed the entire box and contents outdoors until I discovered the source. I was disappointed it was the shampoo as I was looking forward to trying the brand and happy they included both shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately after I broke the seal on the shampoo and confirmed that was the culprit, I tossed it in the trash. I know I should’ve found an alternative solution where someone could’ve used it, but that meant I had to keep it until that time and the smell was way too strong for that.

      • Hi Colleen, I was commenting on my own post last night. Didn’t see your msg. I agree, I didn’t want to keep the bottles around since the smell really permeates through the bottle. Decided to try it based on reviews. The smell is just faintly in my hair after a long rinse. Off to try the rest of the box. 🙂

      • Colleen – tried to respond but msg not showing up. I agree, I didn’t want to keep the bottles around due to the smell. Tried the s/c. Just a faint smell of it in my hair after a long rinse. 🙂 Off to try the rest of the box.

    • I read reviews on the shampoo. A lot of people really like it. Hoping the scent won’t stay in my hair. Gotta try it. 🙂

      • Black licorice anyone?? I hated the smell just because I don’t like the flavor 😄 Immediately gave it away!!

  29. I used Makeup Easer to clean my phone and it did pretty good job😂😂….

    • It does okay on tablets too, except for the shedding of stray fibers!

    • Yay! I stitched a basting line around the edges with my sewing machine (that hated the fabric), and the product still didn’t impress me. Nothing wrong with cotton rounds and micellar water!

    • That’s awesome!!

  30. Not a fan of that shampoo/conditioner. Does anyone know how to sharpen that lippie without destroying it? It looks like too much work even if I love the color.

  31. You can actually get this exact sample cloth as a free sample from makeup eraser right now. Definitely feel like we got jipped on this one.

    • Just an FYI, not being mean or anything, but the term “gypped” is actually a slight against someone who is a Gypsy. Meaning ripped off, or stolen from. A lot of people don’t know this, so I thought I’d put it out there….

      • I never thought of the origin of that word! I didn’t realize about its offensive origins. Thank you for sharing this, I appreciate it. I will be more aware and try to avoid using this word in the future!

  32. That shampoo was nothing short of awful! Perhaps the worst I’ve tried. Couldn’t get it to the trash fast enough!

    • I have to agree, worst box ever…besides micro sized Sephora 🤔

  33. Yep…the make up eraser was a waste. I used it tonight… I had a hard time keeping a grip on it while washing my face, and I didn’t like how it felt on my skin. I then washed my face with a white washcloth and there was still makeup residue. So it went in the trash. Bad sample experience for sure. Anyhow, I prefer using micelles and cleansers to clean my face. Have not had a chance to try the other products. To change the subject, I finally tried that In Transit Camera Close-up primer/moisturizer from November…no good. But the Hourglass primer from December is AMAZING!!! ( I’m so behind on my sampling due to overload)… will try the Stellar primer after that. Has anyone tried the Stellar primer yet? And what do you think of it???

    • ❤️ hourglass primer

      • Ditto

    • I loved that in transit !! It’s a shame it’s not in stores or I would buy it. Lol different strokes right ?

  34. Box twin…i would fray check the sample makeup eraser before using it, only because I already have fray check…i also got a full size Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip Lacquer in Moonglow…a nude soft pink…sent separately from the April box for being a loyal customer…i didn’t get the freebie last time a year or so ago…i can’t complain.

  35. I’ve been getting Allure for a out 7 months now. This by far was the biggest bummer. I specifically left hair products out of my profile because I ONLY want Beauty/Makeup products. I paid 30$ for two one for me and one for my daughter.. Totally wasn’t worth it at all.

    • I also got two boxes. One is for my daughter. We both got version 1 with the stinky shampoo.:(

      • Straw hair – that’s what it gave me! 😳

    • How do you set up a profile for Allure?

    • I didn’t get to set up a profile or anything. How did you do that bc I would want to do it too?! Thanks

  36. Considering the other box had a half size of the korres Cream (that I really wanted, I am very disappointed. I loathe shampoo and conditioner samples. This box was a hard fail for me. Not at all worth fifteen dollars. Is it possible to as for a refund?

    • The box with shampoo and conditioner is the one with the half size Korres cream.

      • Oh snap, the completely different packaging threw me off! Ahaha, I’m much happier then. I’m happy to get to try the primer, and I got drunk elephant in my Sephora. Thanks for pointing that out! 😊

  37. The smell! I had to put the whole box outside. Smelled like stale tobacco and mint.

    • Perhaps it came from that hideous shampoo. Absolutely the worst!!

    • We’ve been trying to figure out the scent. It is really bad. Stale tobacco and mint is right. (With a touch of licorice.) 😫

      • Ugh. I smelled it from my mailbox as I was getting it out. So gross! I thought my mailman was a chain smoker. Glad to know it wasn’t just me. Every item stunk so I couldn’t be sure which item it was!

      • YES! That’s it! I’ve been trying to figure it out.

It was so strong that you could smell it through the plastic! Yuck!

Really wanted variation 2 or 3…

    • Yes!!!!!! 🤤

  38. The new beauty director who they recently changed for the box so far sucks.

  39. Looks like most people, myself included, received the terrible #1 box. That was the WORST one for me to get, and it appears I’m not alone. I, too, pay full price for this sub, and yet, it was as if they were TRYING to upset people with this box. Pretty disappointed. Especially after getting pretty decent boxes the past few months.

  40. I think I’m in the minority, but I actually really enjoyed this box (not counting the Barbie towel makeup eraser sample.) The Nudestix was full size, and a great, wearable color. I’m not a huge fan of the Rahua Shampoo scent- licorice, ew!!!- BUT the formula is phenomenal. My hair is half wavy, half straight, bleached, and prone to frizz. I washed my hair two days ago, and still looks clean and shiny with no frizz in sight. I’ll see if I can get past the smell in my next two washes, because this could be HG shampoo if I can.

The Stellar face primer… this is definitely a new favorite. A little goes a long way. And it keeps my makeup fresh and long lasting all day (I’m an Esthetician, so I’m constantly in front of a steamer day in and out. A full face of makeup is usually gone by 1pm)

The Barbie Beach Towel was just wrong, and should never have been included as one of the five items. I opened it, laughed, and trashed it. In no way could you use this to test out if Makeup Eraser would work for you. I hate Makeup Erasers to begin with (You actually need to wash your face with some sort of of a cleanser! Rinsing with water and scrubbing with microfiber is NOT cleaning your face of makeup and the elements!!!) But this little scrap of fabric is a joke, and honestly somewhat insulting. I hope Allure reads the comments here- this is NOT a way to gain and keep subscribers in the long term. Advertising a sample as a mini is bait and switch.

Again, overall I’m happy with my box. I’m super happy with the variation I recieved- but variations shouldn’t be happening with this box, especially when the variations are including repeat items. And advertising sample items as mini items is not cool. Allure, you can do better. Please do.

    • I am in the minority with you. I’m glad you commented or I would have thought I was the only one who liked this box (minus the makeup eraser!)

      • Liz,
I think this is a great box minus the cloth square too. I actually don’t mind hair care minis because they’re convenient and I like trying new products. I love NudeStix and already own a sharpener for them from BOS. I like trying new primer formulas and Korres moisturizer should work well too.

        • Glad to hear you liked it too. I just used the Rahua set for my shower tonight, and then after reading these comments, I had to ask my husband Eric to smell my hair and tell me if it was terrible! (He said it was fine. But now I know the scent isn’t for everyone 🙂 )

          • I actually had a matching Rahua hair mask that I haven’t tried, so I’m going to try all 3 and see how it works. I’m with you, this box was okay for me. I knew I prob wouldn’t use the Korres as I have drier skin, but it will make for a good swap. Love the primer, and the lippie was good too.

          • After reading all the comments I was shocked and went back to smell that shampoo again…I smell hardly anything at all and I surely couldn’t have smelled it sitting in my mailbox wrapped in plastic! I really liked the shampoo and no one around me has asked about my smelling like mint and tobacco. Funny how different our senses of smell are.

  41. I actually tried to use the sample cloth and ended up with pink fibers all over. I’ve used one of the full-size before and didn’t have that happen. If this was my first time using the product, I would never even consider it.

  42. I was pisssed with the sample of the magic eraser. I love the lipstick though. Wasn’t worth the 15 at all this month.

  43. Anyone else feel like they advertised a full size makeup eraser? I would be upset if I has subbed.

    • yes! They definitely did!!!!

  44. I love makeup erasers and have several, but if that *sample* was my first exposure to the brand, I would not be impressed. I could see them losing potential customers because it seems so cheap.

  45. This box this month was absoulety awful!! Allure should be ashamed of themselves for this.

I of course got the one with shampoo and conditioner and before I even opened the box it smelled awful…just awful. Opening it was no treat. The makeup square I just threw away without opening and will never buy that just because of how dumb that sample was. Like both companies thought that would be a good idea?!

Since the new “beauty box lady” took over, the sample products have went downhill. I like to get items to try that work for me and I love so much I buy them.

And why oh why do they keep sending the same color lip products out, just a different brand for the past 3 months or so?!?! I keep reading all these people getting red lipsticks, yet thats exactly what im into and for some reason none of the many sub boxes i get, i never ever get red, or berry colors!! Just the awful pjnk, pink/grey, light pink…i was sooo excited to get a nars lipstick to finally try out….what do I get?!?! A color that would have been a hit in the 1970’s if I was somehow blessed with a different hair and skin color!! Hahaha. Seriously, those pinks, and odd light mauve, pink/grey just don’t work for everyone. :((

Happy thoughts for the next couple months. I’ve been with allure for years now and their magazine, but these boxes have been bad for MONTHS now for me and at 17.00 almost it’s expensive to not use any items in a box, or maybe one if lucky.

    • I seriously don’t understand these lip colors with grey tones to them. Who do they look good on? I was pretty disappointed with the lip color when I saw what it looked like on, so drab.

Hopefully next month will be better. 🙂

      • Completely agree about the lip products! “Nearly dead” is not a look I aspire to.

      • My kids always think I’m chaotic and want to supplement my O2 to “pink me up” when I try them!

        • Haha cyanotic, should have checked this earlier.

  46. This box would look a lot better if I hadn’t seen the other variations. I can use everything, but wasn’t in the market for shampoo or primer. The price difference is quite large, and the other boxes have some nice skincare brands! The sample cloth will work nicely to clean screens on my electronics.

    • Exactly!!! I LOVE skinfix and am dying to try Drunk elephant. Sigh, box one it was 😐

  47. The cloth makes a great blanket for my daughter’s tiny dolls. Such a disappointment for me though.

    • What a cute idea! If I was a doll I would love a hot pink fuzzy blanket!! (I loved the rest of the box though!)
