Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Clubs are the original beading subscription boxes (they’ve been around since 2000). Choose from “Hot and Trendy” beads, “2-Hole Beads,” “Superduos,” “11/0 Delicas,” “11/0 Seed Beads,” “Swarovski crystals,” or a rotating club where you get a different selection each month. The cost varies depending on the club selected and whether you choose the single or double club.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This is a review of the 11/0 Delicas of the Month Club, which is $24.95/month.

Adornable Elements Beads of the Month April 2018 Review

About Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Club

The Subscription Box: Adornable Elements Beads of the Month Club

The Cost: $24.95/month. Save a bit more with the double clubs.

The Products: 5 grams each of 8 different colors of Miyuki Delica beads (Delicas are very regular cylindrical-shaped seed beads)

Good to know: I actually subscribe to several of these clubs and they all come in the same package (that’s why the box is so big). I’m going to do a rotation with these reviews so you’ll see something a little different each month. Also, please note that you can cancel or add clubs by calling, emailing, or using the contact form on their website.

Ships to: US, cost varies depending on the number of clubs subscribed to (shipping is $4.50 for one club; refer to their FAQ for shipping costs for additional clubs)

Adornable Elements Beads of the Month April 2018 “Peacock Plumage" Review

With this subscription, you receive a selection of Miyuki Delicas in coordinating colors each month:

The package came with a list of the beads included as well as retail values. Note: I am using the retail values from this list. They seem reasonable to me, plus it is pretty much impossible to find each color from the same online shop, let alone the same exact package size, so things like quantity discounts are not going to apply here. This month’s theme is “Peacock Plumage.  (For what it’s worth, I really think the colors fit the themes and go together nicely with these subscriptions.)

Crystal Silk Satin

Crystal Silk Satin – Listed Value $3.75

This month, there were a lot of teals and aquas, so I was happy to get a contrasting color as well (even though I didn’t use it in my project). This will go with nearly anything and I think it’s fun to get a satin finish instead of plain white. (The beads are in a little bowl in the picture, FYI, because I didn’t want to pick them all up off the beading mat!)

Dyed Semi-Frosted Transparent Teal

Dyed Semi-Frosted Transparent Teal – Listed Value $3.25

I knew I liked the frosted finish, but this semi-frosted finish is pretty fun, too. I don’t have much with this finish in my collection, though the color itself will fit right in.

Dyed Transparent Capri Blue – Listed Value $3.25

Capri blue is a little bit of a twist on the aquas and teals. These have more of a traditional shiny finish.

Emerald Lined Cobalt AB – Listed Value $3

This is another fun finish. The emerald lining doesn’t show up a lot through the cobalt, I think, but perhaps someday I will find some non-emerald lined beads to compare.

Emerald Lined Aqua AB

Emerald Lined Aqua AB – Listed Value $3

I think the emerald lining shows through a little more with these aqua beads. (Sorry I don’t have a lot to say about each individual item, you can see they are all color and finish variations on the same item.)

White Lined Teal AB – Listed Value $3

Here are some lined beads where you can really see the lining. The white inner part (it lines the hole of the bead, which is true for any type of “lined” color) gives these both a transparent and an opaque look at the same time if that makes sense.

Duracoat Galvanized Dark Sea Foam – Listed Value $5.50

I like that you don’t always get the cheapest finishes with this subscription. Every month you’ll get at least one or two colors or bead types that I’d consider “premium.” For the seed bead clubs (11/0 Delicas and 11/0 seed beads) you’ll often receive a Duracoat galvanized finish product like this one (easiest to look at the picture rather than me attempting a description); these are a nice way to add a bit of a metallic touch to a project.

Glazed Opaque Pistachio – Listed Value $4.25

I would not have expected this to be called “pistachio” but on the other sides of the plastic containers, there are stickers with the codes from the information sheet so you can match up colors. I liked the contrast of this with the other colors so I used it in a beadweaving project this month.

Here are some earrings I made with four of the different colors. I had seen an ad for Beadaholique in the most recent Beadwork magazine that showed something similar so I decided to give it a try. These are the findings at the top and bottom, which I already had in my stash. This probably would’ve been faster on a loom, but I did square stitch because I didn’t want to bother setting the loom up. I just made up the pattern as I went along. The hooks are off-colored because they’re niobium (hypoallergenic), which doesn’t take on a color that matches exactly when anodized.

Verdict: I calculated a value for the April 2018 11/0 Delicas of the Month Club of $29. This is just shy of the cost of the box plus shipping, which is usually the case for this subscription. I save on shipping because I get three clubs (I just review one per month) and you can also save a little more by going for the double clubs.

I loved the colors this month (my stash has a lot of teal and aqua in it) and once again think they go together really well. This is a great club for building your stash of Delicas, especially if you like to either make a lot of small projects or if you like to make complicated patterns involving a ton of different colors.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Yes, in my experience you’ll get your first shipment shortly after you sign up, and then this ships early in the month after that.

Value Breakdown: At $29.45 (including shipping) for this box, you are paying about $3.68 per item.
