Yogi Surprise March 2018 Review

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Connection

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Packing List

This month's box features the theme of Connection. I didn't realize that the word "yoga" roughly translates to "to join" or "to unite" with our true nature until reading the info card provided, but it makes so much sense. This box is all about reconnecting with oneself in preparation for Spring, which many see as a season of rebirth. I'm always game for a little self-love and I in turn always appreciate a sub box that helps me achieve it.

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Yoga Sequence

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Yoga Poses

Each month there is a Yogi Surprise Sequence included. This month's sequence is intended to help you move inward and ground yourself. It's printed a little off-centered on the provided card, but no information is cut off.

Yogi Surprise March 2018 The Galaska Home Coupon

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Good Karma Coupon

Usually, you'll find a card advertising a monthly yoga retreat giveaway, as well as a spoiler for the next month's box, but like last month, that card wasn't included this time around. Another common inclusion is a series of cards offering discount codes to the companies whose products are featured in the box. Here are two!

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Ylang Ylang Candle

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Travel Candle

The Galaska Home Downward Facing Dog Ylang Ylang Candle, 8oz — Retail Value $20

I often light candles when doing yoga at home, so it's cool to have received a candle that's intended specifically for a yoga practice! This soy candle has a ylang-ylang scent, which is said to encourage an uplifting outlook. To me, it smells very floral, but not in the traditional floral candle type of way; more like something you'd smell from a flowering tree in the spring. It's got a unique essence, one that I can definitely see being awakening rather than calming.

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Lotion

Cuccio Somatology Yogahhh! Muscle Fitness Arnica Balm, 3.25 fl oz – Retail Value $15.95

Next up is this muscle fitness balm, which some of you may have been expecting from this month's spoiler. This topical lotion is meant to be used after a yoga practice or workout, which made sense to me once I smelled the menthol in it! It's basically like a more mindfully made version of Icy-Hot! Made with essential oils and without artificial fragrances or parabens, this cruelty-free product is an awesome product to have on hand. I can see it really coming in handy after a long run.

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Flaxmilk Drink

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Protein Drink

Good Karma Vanilla Lightly Sweetened Flax Milk Protein Shake, 10 fl oz — Estimated Value $2.50 (Buy a 12-pack on here for $30)

As someone with a generally plant-based diet and a preference for dairy-free milk, I was excited to find this flax milk protein drink in my box! The first thing I check on the label for protein bars, shakes, and things are: does it have more protein than it does sugar? The answer for this one is no. It touts 10g of protein, but 12g of sugar. Bummer! For me, if I'm going to eat/drink something super sugary, I'd rather it be an indulgence instead of something that's meant to be healthy. I will say this drink doesn't taste too entirely sugary and that its vanilla flavoring and sweetener are probably preferred to mask the rather earthy flavor of the flax milk for many. I noticed online that there's an unsweetened vanilla version of this drink, which I'd be curious to try!

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Temple Tape

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Yoga Headband

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Sweat Band

Temple Tape Classic Sweatband — Retail Value $13.95

This headband is awesome. It's super stretchy, lightweight, and breathable, and I can totally see how it might wick and absorb sweat. My husband was heading off to a hot yoga class just as I was unpacking my box and asked if he could try it out. Here he is wearing it just before heading out the door. He reported back that it worked wonders for keeping sweat out of his eyes and also for keeping his hair out of his face when he untied it for positions on his back. I might have a hard time stealing this headband back from him!

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Fresh Feet Wipes

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Peppermint Feet Wipes

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Wipes

Jasmine Seven Fresh Feet Wipes, 25 Pack — Retail Value $5.95

As campers and festival-goers, we are all too familiar with the concept of using wipes to clean our feet, haha! I can see them coming in handy after hot yoga (before putting your shoes back on) too. These wipes are natural and boast a really refreshing peppermint scent. I tried one on my hands and it left a refreshing, minty feeling after being used, too! I can see this pack coming in handy this summer and as I look in my crystal ball, I can also see myself buying more.

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Rice Pouch

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Eye Pillow

Inner Calm Yogi Eye Pillow — Buy a similar product here for $13

This calming eye pillow seems like the perfect addition to final savasana. It's filled with small beads so that its weight lays nicely against the contours of your closed eyes. I love the tie-dye-inspired pattern and soft fabric of this little eye pillow, and I'm bummed I wasn't able to find it on the Laura Crawford Website. Included with the pillow came a discount code for the Laura Crawford shop, which is filled with tons of lovely earrings, scarves, thermoses, and bento boxes. The slip also advertises a free guided meditation, which I couldn't find. I'm now wondering if maybe you have to sign up for an account to access it.

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Yoga Nidra Trial

Yoga International 30-Day Trial & Free Course — Estimated Value $149

Finally, this card features an offer for Yoga International, an online yoga resource. In order to claim your free 30-day trial and Yoga Nidra bundle, you have to follow the link listed on the back of the included card and create an account. Yoga International will automatically charge subscribers $14.99/month after the free trial, so in order to sign up, you have to enter a credit card number. I'm so terrible at remembering when my subscriptions renew, so I've set myself a calendar reminder for 30 days from now. As I was going through the sign-up process, I just assumed I'd want to use this awesome resource while it's free then cancel after 30 days because I have no trouble finding wonderful classes on YouTube for free, but who knows, maybe I'll love it! As the profile creation process, you are asked your level and what types of classes you're looking for, and are given suggestions based on that.

As promised, you're also given access to a free bundle (which is said to be valued at $149). I was unfamiliar with yoga Nidra until downloading and digging into the ebook that was waiting for me. According to the ebook:

Yoga nidra involves the gradual implementation of certain practices that lead to a deep state of conscious sleep. To put it simply, yoga nidra is “the sleep of the yogi.”

Very intriguing! I've dipped my toes in lucid dreaming a few times, so this is particularly interesting to me. I can't wait to give it a try!

Quick note: I noticed there was a countdown meter on the Yoga International website when I went to sign up for my free trial. It told me I only had 12 hours left to claim the deal. I'm assuming that each individual has 12 hours from when they originally login to the special Yogi Surprise URL to sign up, but it was unclear. If you receive your March box and have trouble logging into the provided URL, I'm sure the Yogi Surprise customer service team can help you!

Yogi Surprise March 2018 Sticker

They also tossed in this cool sticker from Yoga International, that says "be here now". I love it! I'm going to put it on my Nalgene. 🙂

The Verdict: This was a great month for Yogi Surprise! I was introduced to a whole slew of great products and resources that I will absolutely use regularly and might even use the included discount codes to restock once this inaugural supply has run out! The only product I didn't love was the protein drink due to its sugariness, but it was still a cool product to try, and I might just have to buy myself the unsweetened version now that I know it exists. Value-wise, I felt I got an awesome deal this month. The Packing List card notes that the total retail value of the box is $72.89, which is about a dollar off from what I calculated using some estimations. This ~$72 value also does not include the free month of Yoga International membership (valued at $14.99) and the complimentary yogaNidraa bundle (valued at $149)! Including the Yoga International offerings, it's closer to a $237 value. Woah!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the April box. Sign up on or by the 13th to get the next month’s box! All orders processed after the 13th will ship the following month.

Value Breakdown: I got seven great items in this $44.95 box, which includes the Yoga International 30-day trial & free course (but does not include the sticker). That means I paid approximately $6.42 per item. Now that's an epic deal!
