SubApollo Spring 2018 Review

SubApollo used to have you fill out a short survey when you first subscribe, but they've simplified it to three choices with drop-down menus on the order page. You'll choose a gender (male, female, or "prefer not to say"), a face shape (narrow, medium, or wide), and your style (open-minded, adventurous, fashion-forward, or simplistic) which will help guide them to what styles they choose for you.

I also noticed that they have a lookbook that you can check out to see what styles you may be receiving! It's fun to look through all of them, they get pretty wild!

SubApollo Stickers

To start things off, they give you a couple stickers that match the seasonal box your sunnies come in! This season has an "Electric Jungle" theme. I'm expecting some far out stuff.

Let's check out my two styles!

"well rounded" sunglasses with rose lenses

Well-Rounded Sunglasses

The first pair I received is right up my alley since I find round frames to be flattering on me. They're clear plastic with rose-colored lenses and I I think they're so fun! I have a couple other pairs of round frames, but these are certainly a bot more adventurous than my blue and grey colors. Since the lenses are rose, they don't do a whole lot of blocking out the sun and are more for just a chill vibe.

You will also always received a soft black case that doubles as a lens cloth. Since I toss my sunnies in my bag, they get scratched a lot, so I can appreciate this layer of protection.

Here they are on. I was wearing them around the office for a while before looking in the mirror and was a little shocked that they didn't look exactly as I imagined. They dip a little further down on my face than I'd like and I can't help but think that the rose lenses give them a 60s "free love" vibe. But for $7.50, these aren't a huge loss.

"Runner" sunglasses with flat rose colored lenses

Runner Sunglasses

These immediately made me excited! They have such an 80s/retro look to them, even though they have the super on-trend flat lenses. My roomie makes music that includes a lot of synthesizers, so I immediately texted him saying "I need you to try these sunglasses on when I get home". He obliged, we took some photos for Instagram while giggling, and had a ball.

These also come with a soft pouch to battle any sharp object floating around my purse.

While I think I look TOTALLY RIDICULOUS in these, they really made my day. My roommate ended up thinking they'd be perfect to wear on stage for an upcoming tour he's playing keyboards for, so they went to a good home.

Verdict: SubApollo's sent me two pairs of pretty decent quality sunnies with pouches for only $15.00. As a sunglasses addict, I love the surprise of what fun frames I'll get in each shipment, and even if I don't think they suit me, their styles are really cool and can be worn for serious or for funsies, depending on your style.

Such discount offers are given to attract more customers but quality is compromised. The apparent look of product is not all what people look for, brand and quality also matters.

Marne- What style did you pick for your sunglasses profile? I looked at their lookbook and saw some I would totally dig but many I would not. Thanks!
