Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you initially sign up, you take an in-depth survey that asks you about your clothing size, personal style, and price preferences. They also ask you a few questions about your pregnancy such as due date and how you like to style your bump. Your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences within the survey. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping as well as free returns. If you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!

Stitch Fix Maternity Clothing Box March 2018 Review

My box took a little bit of a beating this month it looks like, but luckily nothing inside was damaged, although my invoice and other inserts were a little bit damp, so please pardon the wrinkles!

This month Stitch Fix introduced a new “Extras” option where you can add items like underwear, bras, or socks to your order and they will ship with your next box. Just like everything else in your Fix, shipping and returns are free, you just pay for the Extras you want to keep when you checkout. The good news is that your $20 styling fee will be applied toward any extras you purchase, however, it is not part of the 25% discount you get if you purchase all 5 items in your Fix!

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to checkout and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $272, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $184. That’s a savings of $88 on these items.

This is the included style sheet which includes a note from my stylist. This month, my Fix came from Liana which means that I have had a different stylist for each of my three Fixes. I asked for a casual, flowy top that I could be comfortable in since I am feeling HUGE right now (I’m 36 weeks!) and I mentioned that I loved the cardigans I received before, but really wanted something a little bit bigger to wrap myself and baby up in. This month’s Fix really matched my style and I was excited about all of the items I received. The pictures on the style sheet feature each of the 5 items and show different outfit suggestions and accessories that might pair well with them.

Anchorage Solid Canvas Tote by Street Level - Cost to Keep $58 (Keep!)

I have been wanting a bag that I could use as a diaper bag that was actually still stylish and could be used as an everyday bag as well. This was perfect! I love the color and how big it is with three separate pockets. The big zippered pocket in the center will hold my valuables and the side pockets will be great to hold the kid-friendly items that I need to reach quickly (wipes, tissues, pacifiers).

This is probably the first bag that I have ever seen though that does not have that inner zippered pocket! It still has the small inner pocket, but it just doesn’t zip closed. This was fine with me because as you can see the bag is still very roomy and I was even able to put all four other items from my Fix inside that center pocket. The material is a nice, thick canvas that feels like it will hold up well and it was comfortable to wear over my shoulder even when full. I’ll definitely get a lot of use out of this!

Davids Shawl Cardigan by Harper Lane

Davids Shawl Cardigan by Harper Lane, Size XL - Cost to Keep $68 (Return)

This was the item that was meant to be a nice, cozy cardigan for me to wear over my nursing tops and really keep baby and me comfortable. I loved how big it is; she sized me up for this and even though the sleeves were a bit long, it felt very cozy and enveloping which I wanted, but I really could not fall in love with the pattern. Even in pictures, I think it looks pretty flattering, but I think I just loved the pale purple from the other fixes so much and wanted more of a spring look. The black and gray stripes and heavy knit make it feel more like a winter item and I am so ready for spring! I didn’t realize I was so picky about cardigans until now! Oops!

Shenaya Knit Top by Pink Clover, Size XL- Cost to Keep $40 (Return)

This really looked like something I was going to love at first! I liked the light gray color, it fits me now, which means it will be great postpartum, and I thought the cowl neck was really cute. Unfortunately, those ties at the neckline were what ruined it for me. I don’t understand their purpose- there is no hood! I know it was probably just for looks, but I didn’t like the look of it tied and when they were untied they were so long that they got in the way. I wanted to wear this over a nursing top, so I know they would just get in the way of baby when untied and I probably wouldn’t end up wearing this enough to justify buying it.

Kaila Maternity Nursing Panel Knit Top by Loveapella Maternity

Kaila Maternity Nursing Panel Knit Top by Loveapella Maternity, Size L - Cost to Keep $48 (Return)

This shirt is my style exactly! I love the stripes and color, it was long, stretchy and so comfortable. I love that the sides just lift up for easy nursing access. It’s really a great top, even though It’s hard to tell what it would look like once the bump is gone. I was so sad to discover that the top of the shirt was very narrow meaning that it was already stretched really tight across my chest. I know that once I am nursing, my chest will get a bit bigger and I’m just afraid that it will lay very awkwardly affecting the look of the shirt.

Abree Maternity Moto Skinny Pant by 1822 Denim, Size 12 - Cost to Keep $58 (Return)

I was really looking forward to trying these pants on. I don’t really have any colored jeans, so I was willing to try something new for me. Unfortunately, I could not get these bad boys above my hips. I am going to attribute this to the fact that I am about to give birth and my hips are preparing instead of blaming it on all of the ice cream I have been eating. That’s fair, right?

I really liked how soft the jeans were and that they had a little bit of stretch, although apparently not enough for me- oops! My stylist described the color as eggplant, but I didn’t think they were that dark, they were almost a magenta. The best comparison I can think of is Barney the dinosaur, which probably isn’t the most appealing. They were very nice though and I loved the detail on the knees. They would probably be very comfortable in a different size.

The Verdict: I really liked everything in my third Stitch Fix Maternity box. It was definitely my style and one thing I’ve actually enjoyed is that there is usually one item that is a little outside my comfort zone which I think is fun. I think that my stylist tried her best to meet my requests and kept my sizing issues from my last Fix in mind. Unfortunately, I think that I am pretty difficult to style at the moment given that I am 36 weeks pregnant. Once again, I was pleased with my Fix and felt that my feedback from my prior Fix was actually heard and noted. Next month I’ll be moving on to postpartum items and I am really excited to see if they can help me feel comfortable with all the extra weight I’ll be carrying. I’m looking forward to some cute nursing tops and since I will soon be at home with a newborn, I think I will really appreciate the convenience of this service even more.  Although the clothes didn’t fit like I had hoped, I’m so glad to have found a bag that fits my style and my needs.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $272. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all 5 items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $184. That’s a discount of around 32% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I think I’ve gotten that bag (in a non preggo box) or something really, really similar. I didn’t keep it as I have more than enough bags.
