Nestle Drifter Bar – Retail Value $3.00
What do you get when you combine a Kit Kat with a Twix, you ask? You get this magic, dumbfoundedly perfect creation: The Drifter. It is fantastic. It has thick, chewy caramel sandwiched between airy wafer layers, and it is SO fun to chew for some reason. There is nothing remotely dissatisfying about it! 10 outta 10 outta 10!
For some reason, it's only available in the UK, and it's apparently getting increasingly harder to find there. So snag it while you can online!
Crown Saekom Dalkom Lemonade Flavor – Retail Value $2.00
These sour gummies were super tasty, but I will say that the first thing that popped into my head upon tasting them was: "The power of Pine-Sol, baby!" They have the quintessential lemon flavor, and they're sneaky! The sourness was sly—one moment I was like "oh, these are fun!" and a minute later I was squinting with watery eyes because of how tart they were.
If you like sour candies, these cute lemon beebs are for you.
Barcel Mini Takis Fuego Azul – Retail Value $1.00 (Buy a 25-count bag for $17.95 here)
Oh my, was I scared to eat these. They are so very blue. But so very good. They're spicy, curled-up corn chips (think Fritos) flavored with lemon and some HEEEEEAT. There's a unique hint of sweetness from the lemon at the end of every bite, and it's soon followed up with some hot, hot spice.
It's like they always say: Don't judge a book by its cover. Don't judge a snack by its color.
Elit Mozaik Chocolate with Biscuit Pieces – Retail Value $2.00
I bit into this and said "Oh my goodness" aloud in my kitchen. It is, hands down, the best snack I've received in any subscription box.
The chocolate is somehow almost melty the moment it touches your tongue, and it is SO decadent and rich. It looks like biscotti, but it's not crunchy—it's a comforting texture, almost like a very firm mousse, if that's even possible. The cookie pieces sprinkled throughout are DELIGHTFUL. It honestly felt like this could be served on a dessert tray at a fancy event. It's a chocolate, hazelnutty work of art.
Fashion Foods Paprika Crackers – Retail Value $2.00
I was surprised that I liked these! As I've written in past snack box reviews, I'm usually not a fan of "airy" textures. You know the puffy texture that's often found in "healthy" snacks? These weren't too bad, though. I really enjoyed their paprika flavor—it was like a cheesier, lighter Dorito!
Ramune Soda Candy – Retail Value $3.00
These candies are made by the same Japanese company that also makes actual Ramune soda, so these are the fizzy beverage in sour candy form. They have a hard outer shell and a slightly chewy inside that fizzes when left on your tongue! I tried to place the exact flavor, and the only thing I was tastin' was blue raspberry.
Black Thunder Chocolate-Covered Cookie Bar – Retail Value $2.00
I think this month's MunchPak snack selection may have actually been trying to kill me. All this chocolate was too GOOD, it was overWHELMING. This Black Thunder delicacy may look like a standard sports nutrition bar, but it is all dessert, baby. The bottom layer tastes like an Oreo, and above that layer is a sprinkling of cookie pieces, and it's all covered in THE most wonderful chocolate outer coating. This is a true #treatyoself snack.
So good. SOOO GOOD.
Haribo Twin Snakes, 5 oz. – Retail Value $3.00 (Buy a 12-pack for $23.36 here)
You can never go wrong with Haribo. Never! I'd never even heard of Twin Snakes before, but I loved 'em! I shared these colorful gummy duos with my roommates, and we all had fun pulling them apart. Each snake pair is one part sweet, one part sour, so you can either eat them together or tear them apart for a taste of each flavor!
Bourbon Kikori No Kirikabu Wheat Cookies – Retail Value $4.00
HOW CUTE ARE THESE! Li'l tree stumps! The stump itself is a swirly, twirly cookie surrounded by a wonderfully thick, smooth chocolate base. The ratio of cookie to chocolate is spot on. These are such delicious, poppable sweets, and each box comes with a good amount of pieces!
Burts Vintage Cheddar and Green Onion Chips – Retail Value $3.00
This was one of the only snacks in the box that didn't wow me, and that's sayin' something—because I adore kettle chips! The cheese flavor was barely there and honestly tasted too vague to even be classified as cheddar. Maybe it was the off-putting fact that the word "vintage" is in their name, but these chips put a stale taste in my mouth.
The aftertaste was the best part, 'cause that's where the salty potato flavor came in!
MPower Red Energy Drink – Retail Value $5.00
This was the other snack that didn't do it for me. Last month I received a canned beverage, as well, and sadly this month's carbonated energy drink didn't live up to it. For one thing, this can was VERY hard to pop open! The tab itself only opened a small hole, and inside that hole was a strange plastic ring that made it hard to pour the drink into a glass. Only a few drops came out at a time!
The taste itself wasn't great. It had the same artificial flavor as cherry cough medicine, in my opinion.
Nestle Morochas Cookies – Retail Value $2.00
These were adorable! They reminded me so much of the thin Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies I used to eat by the handful growing up! The top layer is a crispy, vanilla-tinged biscuit, and below it is a rich layer of chocolate. It's sweet, crunchy, and so, so satisfying.
The Morochas package indicated that there were two servings included, but seeing how it only came with 8 thin cookies....my chocolate-fiending-appetite would consider splitting this stack with someone nearly impossible.
Verdict: This month's MunchPak BLEW ME AWAY. There was so much sweet, chocolatey goodness, I could barely handle it. In a rare occurrence, the salty snacks were the ones that left me feeling a little 'blah!' The snacks themselves were all so unique, and each had lots of personality, which made them fun to share with friends. The Elit Mozaik Chocolate with Biscuit Pieces will likely make recurring appearances in my dreams as the greatest chocolate snack in existence. It was that good. Overall, this was the experience was the best I've ever had with a snack subscription box!
