Mishimask January 2018 Review
Each month's box comes with an info card detailing each mask's effects, ingredients, size, and retail value. English ingredient lists can also be found on the Mishibox website. This month's theme is 'Snails, snails, snails!,' so, as you can imagine, lots of snail masks are included.
TONYMOLY Ferment Snail Eye Mask - Retail Value $5.00
This set of 2 gel-like eye pads covers the under eye area to brighten skin and decrease puffiness. The snail mucus also promotes anti-aging and helps repair the skin. I've used de-puffing eye patches like this before, and it definitely helps to pop the package into the fridge before use. That added step made the results all that more impressive on my tired (new mom!) and delicate eye bags.
JIGOTT Collagen 3 Step Nose Sheet Pack - Retail Value $2.00
I haven't been as careful about removing ALL of my makeup before bed lately, so clogged pores have been more of an issue. I was excited to see this blackhead removing treatment. It has three steps, each of which requires a nice chunk of time. This is the kind of mask treatment that you have to devote a whole evening to. Step 1 is the Pore Hot Sheet which relaxes the pores and removes excess sebum preparing the nose for blackhead extraction. Once removed, I wet my nose and applied step 2: the Blackhead Clean Up Sheet. It dried in about 10 minutes, but I left it on for an extra 5. Step 3 was the Pore Tightening Sheet which I didn't notice much of a result which, but apparently it seals pores and tightens them. I found this whole process to be pretty intense, but the results made it worth it! I definitely noticed dirt extracted from my nose.
WED:NESDAY Flower Road Pomegranate Snail Mask - Retail Value $4.00
First off, the PACKAGING. What a glam snail! This is the kind of mask that very thin and wet, and it must be delicately peeled off of its plastic backing. The fit was extremely comfortable. This mask was so thin, in fact, that it almost didn't even look like it was there when it was applied. The pomegranate extract in this mask nourished while the snail mucin extract soothed. My skin was left nicely balanced and plump!
FARMSTAY Visible Difference Mask Sheet, Snail - Listed Value $1.50 (found here for $14.00)
This mask contains snail mucus extract (surprise) to nourish and moisturize. There was a lot of slightly sticky liquid present on the sheet, which I liked, and even a little bit left in the packet. The serum had a bit of a gel-like quality, and it soaked into my skin quickly and easily. My skin was SUPER hydrated and had a definite glow upon removing the sheet. I can always count on FARMSTAY!
TONYMOLY Ferment Snail Hydrogel Mask - Retail Value $9.00
When I saw the retail value of this mask, I knew that it had to be good. Its directions state that its best used right before bed, so that's exactly what I did. This Hydrogel Mask claimed to hydrate, brighten, and repair dry and dull skin, and it is formulated with gold tea ferment and snail mucus processed through a special gold fermentation process. Fancy! I felt super bougie while wearing this comfy sheet, and it seemed to dramatically restore my skin's surface leaving some seriously hydrated radiance.
FARMSTAY Visible Difference Mask Sheet, Collagen - Listed Value $1.50 (found here for $14.00)
More from good ol' FARMSTAY. This collagen mask contains water-soluble collagen to increase elasticity -- something I need a lot of right now. However, I didn't notice any dramatic effects with this one. It felt cooling and refreshing on my face, but no magic newfound elasticity. Alas, these things come with time...
ETUDE HOUSE 0.2 Therapy Air Mask, Snail - Retail Value $1.50
One of my favorites of the bunch, this mask was nourishing and incredibly comfortable to wear. The sheet was very thin (0.2 mm, to be exact, as specified by its name) and drenched in essence. The wetness of it sat sort of heavy on the skin in a way that makes it feel like it’s really hydrating and adhered to my face very closely leaving behind a noticeable glow.
MEDIHEAL GRP Wave Forehead Patch - Retail Value $6.00 (found here for $5.94)
A forehead-only mask is something I had never tried until receiving this one! It focused on the skin between the eyes and on the middle of the forehead to increase elasticity and decrease the appearance of wrinkles. Being that its to be used on such a concentrated area, I didn't find results to be dramatic. However, it did really nicely hydrate my forehead area and deliver a boost of beneficial extracts to that area.
THE SAEM Pure Natural Mask Sheet, Snail - Retail Value $0.92 (found here for $0.60)
With snail secretion filtrate and white flower complex, this mask boasts brightening and skin-clearing properties. The sheet was on the thicker side, so it was able to soak in and hold lots of product. And it weirdly smelled a whole lot like soap. It was a good size for my face, and I appreciated the longer than usual nose flap. Most importantly, it left my skin glowy!
Verdict: I'm sad to see Mishimask go!
Being that most Korean face masks are $2-$5, the $2.21 average value per mask is pretty spot-on for what I'd consider being a worthwhile cost. This is an awesome subscription if you're a fellow mask lover, like me, and enjoy trying new brands!
