Mighty Fix March 2018 Review
Each box includes an info card telling you about the featured item and how what they chose to send you helps your house be “greener,” and you be “healthier”! This month’s featured item is a self-sealing, airtight, non-plastic bag, the “Stasher Bag.” The back of the card always has a DIY recipe associated with the monthly product. This month’s DIY item is a recipe for Maple Oatmeal Cookies. I look forward to baking these cookies, the combination of maple and oatmeal seems appealing, and I’m sure they will taste delicious.
Stasher Clear Storage Bag-Sandwich Size/Medium – Retail Value $11.99
I don’t know if Mighty Fix chose this brand in honor of Women’s History Month, but Stasher is women-owned. it’s an empowering way to be a part of women’s history month knowing my subscription this month supports a woman-owned business. The product is designed in California and responsibly made in a sweatshop-free environment. It’s reassuring knowing the company has ethical standards. This product does it all! The reusable bag can store my food safely in the refrigerator and freezer, I can reheat leftovers in the oven, defrost or cook my food in the microwave, and I can use on my stovetop, and sous vide.
Stovetop + Sous vide
Stasher was born to sous vide! Place food and seasonings inside the bag – do not seal. Slowly lower bag into hot water, allowing air to escape and vacuum to form around contents. Carefully pinch press seal to close and clip to the side of the cooking vessel. Cook and Enjoy!
The storage bag I received is sandwich sized/medium and can hold my food for storage, or to cook or reheat my meals, and I can stash miscellaneous items or use as a toiletry bag. The stasher bag is easy to clean; I can wash with warm water and soap or place on the top rack of my dishwasher to be cleaned. It’s recommended not to turn the bag inside out this can ruin the bag’s sealed edges. The bag has a pinch lock seal to ensure an airtight closure. Also, I can use a dry erase marker on the bag which cleans off easily. It’s plastic free, made from 100% pure platinum silicone, is hypoallergenic, BPA and BPS free and non-toxic.
Verdict: This was a useful Mighty Fix and by far a favorite of mine. I have received storage bags before more ideal for a sandwich or snack foods but not as versatile as this reusable bag. I’m amazed at the products I receive and how environmentally friendly and cleverly made to ensure I’m using sustainable practices and products in my home. This subscription always sends quality products that are above the cost of the subscription except for this month. It delivers on sending healthier alternatives for my home and personal use. This subscription doesn’t send the same item each month to everyone that subscribes, so keep in mind that if you choose to subscribe your item may be different from what I received. Also, readers have mentioned in previous reviews that they already received a product I was reviewing.
