Lavish Bath Box February 2018 "Moonstruck" Review

Here is the info sheet that includes the name of the products, the shop that they are from, and any available coupon code. I love having easy access to the shop websites and coupons for future repurchases!

Wood & Wax Co Moondust Bath and Body Nectar in Aurora Borealis

Wood & Wax Co Moondust Bath and Body Nectar in Aurora Borealis, 4 oz -  Retail Value $28

I have never seen a body oil as beautiful as this one, and I am here for it. This body nectar is made with a signature blend of apricot, jojoba, and Vitamin E oils, along with hibiscus flowers, rose petals, and diamond silver mica. It is applied with a dropper, which I think is perfect, because you get all of the oil with none of the flowers trying to come out. It left my skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth, and there was no greasy feeling left. This is going to last a long time, and that makes me happy— it is one of my favorite subscription box finds, ever.

Karamelz Shop Starstruck Shave Soap

Karamelz Shop Starstruck Shave Soap, Full Size! - Retail Value $5

I have never tried a hard shave soap (only the foam ones!), so I was excited to try this. It took a little bit before it emolliated, but it left my skin soft and ready to be shaved. I used this with a razor that is ready to be thrown out, but my shave was nick-free! Plus, the size makes it easy to hold in your hand while balancing on one leg trying to moisturize the other without falling over in a shower. Any product that passes the Jessica-is-clumsy challenge is a winner in my book.

Soaring Suds The Zodiac Bubble Bar, 4.5 oz

Soaring Suds The Zodiac Bubble Bar, 4.5 oz - Estimated Value $6 (linked to a similar product from the same company)

This juicy, fruity bubble bar is another Lavish exclusive. It is scented with blackberry, strawberry, and pomegranate (among others), and it the fruity scent is delicious. I really appreciated how soft this bath bomb was, too. Sometimes my bubble bars are hard to crumble under the running water, but it was easy to break off a chunk of this bar. I used half of the bubble bar and got a great tub of bubbles and water that was a light pink. I am tempted  to buy more bubble bars from the company, because this is definitely comparable to my normal Lush bubble bars but for a lower price (they have a birthday cake bubble bar that looks SO fun).

Fo Shizzle My FIzzle Over The Moon Bath Bomb, 4.5 oz

Fo Shizzle My FIzzle Over The Moon Bath Bomb, 4.5 oz - Estimated Value $7

This beautiful bath bomb is another Lavish exclusive, and I am in awe of how beautiful it is. It is hand painted, and it also has a beautiful crescent moon imprint. It has a lovely citrus scent thanks to the orange and grapefruit, and it is also dusted with biodegradable glitter. This is the only product from this box I have not used it— it is so beautiful that I am trying to save it for a special occasion. I estimated the price based on other bath bombs that are the 4.5 oz size, though the value is probably higher when you take into account the hand-painted detail. This is truly an item that makes for a very lavish bath.

Fate & Fortune Apothecary Cosmic Sugar Scrub, 9.5 oz

Fate & Fortune Apothecary Cosmic Sugar Scrub, 9.5 oz - Estimated Value $13 (value based on a similar product from Fate & Fortune)

Fate & Fortune Apothecary opened on March 3rd, so getting their Cosmic Sugar Scrub in the February box is an awesome sneak peek of the new brand. I love the layers of color, and this black cherry-scented scrub smells exactly like black cherry soda— it was a delicious treat for me. When water meets the scrub that has been rubbed into the skin, the scrub will turn into a moisturizing lotion that leaves your skin smooth and soft. I have never had a body scrub that was so moisturizing, and I love the level of care and detail that went into this scrub. The scrub is a generous 9.5 ounces, and by my research from other quality indie brands, an 8-ounce scrub will sell for between $16-$20.

Dolly Moo Across the Universe Bath Bomb, 7.5 oz - Estimated Value $8

This was a Lavish exclusive, and I was excited to see a large size and gorgeous colors. Unfortunately, during the creation of these custom bath bombs, an ingredient was left out that acts to keep the bath bomb color from sticking to the sides of your tub. Lavish reached out and informed us of the issue promptly, and Dolly Moo will be sending me a new bath bomb to make up for it. I think that is a great resolution for a problem I would not have known about until after I used the product. Luckily, it just so happens that I got this box the day before I was having my apartment cleaned by a professional (gotta impress my mom, who is coming to visit next weekend!). I figured if my tub was already going to be cleaned the next day, there would be no harm in using the bath bomb the night before— and I am glad I did! I loved the  jasmine and vanilla scent, and it created an awesome purple bath water. I am excited to see the replacement Dolly Moo sends me, considering this defective product was so great.

Here is a shot of the gorgeous purple this bath bomb made.

The Verdict: WOW! I am so impressed with my first Lavish Bath Box. I feel like it was designed just for me. I love baths, and I take one practically every day (sometimes multiple times a day). Every included product match the Moonstruck theme, and they truly lived up to their lavish namesake! If you love taking baths, this is definitely a box you should consider. I usually get all of my bath bombs and bubble bars from Lush, and I am excited to see a box offering products of comparable quality from smaller brands. I calculated an estimated value of $67 for this box, which I think is fair. This isn't a subscription where you will get three or four times in retail value what you pay for the box, but you will get thoughtfully curated, high quality products.

This looks like an awesome box, Jessica! The Over the Moon bath bomb is gorgeous. Lavish did a good job on this one!

A quick note from the Lavish Team: It does say up there that we are still shipping February (which was accidentally noted incorrectly in one area of our site we have since changed!) Right now we are selling the March “Lucky Charm” box but we DO have a just a couple of February boxes left over, so if you have purchased and you want your subscription to start with February just give us a shout on our website chat or contact us at [email protected]!

Thank you all for the support and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be on MSA!

I signed up for this box in the fall. I kept on meaning to cancel it since it’s a bit pricey for me. I love it so much that I couldn’t make myself do it. Instead I dropped Ipsy, Love Goodly, Allure and Fabfitfun. It was totally worth it! I love the items, curation and care that goes into it. It really feels like a monthly gift.

My only other box is Margot Ellena. I signed up for the yearly when it first came out. I’m so glad I did. I love that box as well!

I think your choice in subscriptions is great! Why pay for junk when you can truly treat yourself each month!

You should go on Etsy. You could get stuff way cheaper than this.

That’s way less fun. Plus shipping from different vendors adds up. They always have an item that I love and wouldn’t have picked myself. 🙂

Hmmm this is enticing. I just signed up for Fortune Cookie. I wonder how this compares.

So happy to see Lavish reviewed! This is hands down my favorite Bath Box. I could care less about the retail value—I actually use every single thing and I would never find these items by myself. A lot of the products are exclusively made for them too so you can’t get them anywhere else! They always come up with the most unique themes too! Good job MSA!

I’m glad to see this box reviewed. I agree it’s not a high RV box for what you pay but if you try and buy the items individually the shipping is high and you’d have to pay it multiple times. This was probably my least favorite box in a while yet I still liked everything. That’s saying a lot. they have amazing customer service.
