Dia and Co February 2018 Box- 0001 - Box

Dia & Co
2.5 overall rating
75 Ratings | 24 Reviews

Dia & Co. is a monthly plus size clothing subscription box that is personally curated for you by a Dia stylist. Upon enrolling with Dia, I filled out an extensive survey asking me about my clothing size/weight/height, price range, and also my style likes and dislikes. Every month my stylist selects five pieces that could be clothes or accessories to try out. If I like them, I have the option of buying them. There is a $20 per month service fee, but the fee can be applied to any purchases I opt to make. A 20% discount is applied if I choose to keep all five pieces too!

The items in my box are chosen personally for me dependent and reflective of my style and price preference, so the package you receive from Dia & Co. may be entirely different than mine!

Dia and Co February 2018 Box- 0004 - information card

Here is the fashionable Dia & Co envelope I look forward to seeing every month!

Dia and Co February 2018 Box- 0005 - welcome card

Enclosed in this adorable envelope is a note from my stylist, Natalie, telling me why she selected the pieces she did for me along with some helpful styling tips.

Dia and Co February 2018 Box- 0006 - receipt

The other form is an invoice that has a detailed list of the brand, name, color, size, and price of each item she selected for me along with the grand total after the styling fee and 25% off (if I opt to keep all five items) is applied. The savings would be $94.25 if I did decide to keep everything! That isn’t too shabby! That would be like getting the Rachel Roy or the Tulsa Necklace and East Adeline top for free!

Nala Short Sleeve Ruffle Light Wash Chambray Shirt, Size 3x - Retail Value $55

Ruffles. So. Many. Ruffles. I couldn’t help thinking initially of my wardrobe in the early 90s when I saw this shirt. Picture this: pre-teen Nicole in the early 90s. Little Nicole would have styled this shirt with some denim shorts with Looney Tunes (Taz for sure) screen printed on the leg. My goal back then was to look like Kelly Kapowski, but I resembled Violet Anne Bickerstaff from Saved by the Bell more. Modern-day moi took this top and styled it with black skinny leg pants, buckle boots from a previous Shoedazzle review, and my tried and true western buckle belt. The top is a bit oversized on me (don’t worry, I updated my fit profile finally, guys! I am a ding dong and thought feedback alone changed it. Excuse me, I am a space case!) and may look better on me in a smaller size. Wearing the top tucked in helped remedy that issue. The material has some stretch, but this shirt is designed to be a tad looser. This top would look great with a pencil skirt and wedges or a mid-calf, A-line skirt with flats in warmer weather.

Shirley Short Sleeve Lace Front Top by Ryan Wythe, Size 3x - Retail Value $55

I am a big fan of lace pieces, so I sense that is why Natalie selected this top for me. The shirt’s fabric is a stretchy, slinky cotton material. I was unsure of the dusty pink color since I generally have an aversion to anything in the mauve family, but I actually liked this top once I had it on my body. It is versatile enough where it can be worn with a pencil skirt and booties in the office or skinny jeans and flats on a weekend. The price tag for this top seemed a bit steep though, especially since I have seen similar shirts at other retailers for less.

Lori Print Ankle Pant by Michel Studio, Size 24 - Retail Value $69

I had a slight case of deja vu upon seeing these leopard print pants. That is because I did a review for the matching blazer a few months back in a Trunk Club review - wild, huh? My love for this leopard print remains, I mean how could I not love a blue leopard print piece? The problem with these pants is they are too big, but I am not sure that I would like the cut even if I had been provided a smaller size. The struggle with finding dress pants that don’t make me look like I am wearing a diaper has been a real one for a long time. Even though the cut of these pants isn’t the most flattering on me doesn’t mean they wouldn’t look riveting on someone else. These trousers would pair great with a button down blouse or mock turtleneck in the office. I can also see them being styled fantastically with an old band shirt for a casual look or striped boatneck top for some pattern clashing pizzazz!

Coraline Button Front Skirt by Rachel by Rachel Roy, Size 3x - Retail Value $89

I have tried various Rachel Roy pieces in the boxes I review and I am generally impressed by the quality of the fabrics and how they are made. In addition, the styles are always modern and fresh, yet classic. This applies as well to this Cruella Deville executive realness pencil skirt. The knit material feels like a thick sweater yet hugs the curves of one’s body well. I loved this skirt on, but my only complaint is the row of buttons going down the skirt. The skirt fits me, but I wish the buttons served more decoratively and weren’t functional because you can see gaps when I move that expose my bare legs. Otherwise, I adore the vampy look of this pencil skirt.

Gold and Mint Tulsa Necklace - Retail Value $29

This faux jade, teardrop necklace is a versatile piece that will pair with a variety of ensembles. I do love the setting’s details that resemble a pile of golden bubbles framing the green stone. The chain is longer in length but is also adjustable. Out of the clothing items in this month’s box, I would have paired this piece with the denim shirt. I would have styled this necklace with other delicate gold necklaces and stacked gold bangles to create a wow-worthy look!

Verdict: This month’s box was better than last month’s, but still didn’t provide any must-have pieces. I liked the Rachel Roy skirt and leopard pants, but both had fit issues. I made sure to update my size profile, so that should help with that. I did share my Pinterest profile with my stylist in last month’s feedbacks, and I will this month too since it is a helpful reference I update frequently. Some of the pieces, though they were versatile, seemed a bit steep in terms of cost which made me pass them up. There wasn’t enough of a wow factor for me to give them a home in my closet as well. Otherwise, I do still enjoy the convenience of Dia & Co’s service. Generally, my stylist is on the mark and I am looking forward to what March’s box will bring.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Dia & Co curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $328. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $202.75 for the whole box. Ultimately, that is nearly a 32% discount.

The Kruella Divell outfit really wowed me! You look amazing in it! I see what you mean about the buttons that would annoy me, are you keeping it?

Kara S, thank you! It was cute, but I sent it back.

Feels like a box of throw-away items. Hard to see how these reflect your style (based on months of reading your reviews!)

But I came here to let you know that I found something on the Nordstrom Rack website that, when I saw it, just screamed your name! It’s a leopard print clear rain jacket that is less than $20. So retro plus LEOPARD! Not sure if I can post a link but I’ll try:

GREAT review as always, Nicole!

Maddie in PA, yeah, I felt like there was a bit of disconnect with this box. It was better than the last, but still not as great as some of Natalie’s other amazing selections!

And thanks for thinking of me! That is a cute rain jacket!

Sorry, wanted to add that the skirt is perfect for you BUT those buttons are problematic. Sure, you could hand sew that slit closed but for $90, you’d think that issue would have been addressed.

Again, for mid-March, it feels like end of season but still reflecting full price…

Yeah, the skirt was definitely cute and sassy. But like you said, I aint repairing a pricey new skirt.

Those pants were way too big. Siiiigh! Let’s hope for better bext month! Hahaha

Sheila

I love all your reviews and how you make any outfit yours. I admire how you can turn a so-so item into something fab, because you have great style! Sorry you don’t care for mauve, because that top and the color look beautiful on you. Thanks for showing people how gorgeous women of all sizes are.

Thanks so much, Sheila! It means a lot that you check out my reviews! The mauve lace top was cute, but I ultimately felt I could get similar pieces for less at other retailers and passed on it.

I receive Dia and Co as well. I get a box every 3 months or so. The last one I received was waaaay off the mark and I send everything back. Nothing fit right and was just overall disappointed with the selections. I find the quality of the clothing is not as high as Stitch Fix, but for the most part are ok. My box before last was great and I kept EVERYTHING in that one! I’m getting my first Truck Club today. What I like about them is that you get to preview what they initially pick out for you and then you can give back what you don’t like and then they replace those with something else. I also like that you can text with the stylist as well. It makes it more personal I think. Sometimes I feel that Stitch and Dia don’t read the notes I send to them or look at my Pintrest board. So some of the things I get are slightly disappointing. I do like the delivery though, who doesn’t like receiving surprises in the mail! 🙂

My stitch fix stylist is AWESOME about checking out my Pinterest, which I really appreciate! I do agree, Velvet, that Trunk Club app is FANTASTIC!!! I hope you have better luck with Dia & Co.

Wish we could like or dislike each outfit although for me they would all be likes. The pink lace out was the best. You look so great in that.

1. With all these clothing reviews, do you ever have to wear an outfit twice??
2. I rocked MANY Taz shirts in my day, but definitely did not resemble Kelli Kapowski.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Trust me, I never resembled Kelly either. In my wildest dreams I did! I was very awkward during those years! I see these kids today know how to wear makeup at like 12 and I am blown away! Hahaha.

And No, not really. I have received a few similar pieces, but not the exact ones.
