Cuddle Crate February 2018 Review
Cuddle Crate typically sends out a variety of toy types as well as (usually) one package of treats if you have the single pet type option selected. Let’s see what the cats got this month:
They’ve moved away from an information card listing the items in the box and instead are directing you to a URL where you can look up more information about the items.
Oster Shedmonster De-Shedding Tool – Retail Value $11.99
This is the first time in awhile that I’ve received a supply-type item (instead of toys or treats) in this subscription. But it’s getting warm out and Monkey and Madison are gearing up for hairball season so I gave this a try. It is pretty effective. Monkey loves when I use this tool on him, but Madison hates it. (I guess one out of two isn’t bad.)
Jackson Galaxy Puma Paw Two-Pack – Retail Value $4.99 (found here for $3.95)
These are small catnip toys. Angus enjoys batting them around on the floor and today Monkey found one and decided to lick it (I don’t know why?). Anyway, the cats seem to like them.
Multipet Katz Kuddlerz – Estimated Value $8.70
This is a kicker or wrestler-type toy and is really too big for my cats to play with that way (see a size comparison in some of the kitty pictures below). However, there are some dangly puffs on the end and the cats found those fascinating. (I couldn’t find this exact design anywhere – it may be for an upcoming summer toy line-up based on the watermelon print – so I linked to another item from the same product line.)
Categories Knitty Kitty – Retail Value $4.99
This is a big yarn ball. I’ve had one of these in the past and know that they are lightweight and fairly well-made. Still, I have to watch my cats carefully with this – sneaky tries to eat the strings and of course, I don’t want her to do that! But this is fine for supervised play.
Redbarn Naturals Freeze-Dried Whitefish (0.75 oz) – Retail Value $3.99
Freeze-dried meat is becoming more common in cat subscription boxes. Unfortunately, my cats are generally not fans. Sneaky and Angus both sniffed pieces of this, then picked it up in their mouths, then chewed, then left me wet little bits of freeze-dried fish coated in cat saliva on my carpet.

The de-shedder doesn’t do much for a short-haired cat.
However, you can see that the de-shedder does quite a lot for a long-haired cat. Madison did not enjoy this process, though.

And it’s effective on him!
Sneaky thought this was interesting. I had to take it away because she tried to eat the string.
And it wouldn’t be a cat subscription box review without at least one shot of Sneaky desperately grabbing for a treat.
And here are some pictures of Mr. Kitty with some of the box items. He was pretty sleepy and didn’t move too much, but he is old and chronically ill so I guess that’s OK.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $34.66 for the February Cuddle Crate for cats subscription box. That is somewhat above the cost of the subscription plus shipping and is one of the better values I’ve seen for this box. The de-shedding tool worked surprisingly well (I’ve had others that weren’t as great) and the toys shaped like balls were all well-received.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? February boxes all ship about the same time, so no. Also, there is some customization involved, especially for the multi-pet boxes, so there may be some variation even among February boxes.
