Cat Lady Box March 2018 Review

Cat Lady Box is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for March:

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box.

Cat Strand Bracelet

Cat Strand Bracelet – Listed Value $9.99

This is delicate and adjustable. I think it looks pretty good in a stack with other bracelets having fabric components (ribbon, embroidery thread, seed beads, etc.). There has been a lot of purple in Cat Lady Box lately but I am just fine with that!

Wall Hook Set

Wall Hook Set – Listed Value $19.99

I can always count on Cat Lady Box to send me items I don’t get anywhere else (I don’t subscribe to any lifestyle or home décor boxes, though). I am putting these in my downstairs exercise room (as soon as I find the nails – my husband is doing something in the garage right now that has created quite a mess). They will be great for hanging some of the malas I collected when I used to get the Yogi Surprise Jewelry Box.

Here is the back of one of the hooks. As you can see, you will need a nail, which, while it will create a hole in the wall, will be more secure for hanging than a sticky pad would be.

Purrfect Life Shirt

Purrfect Life Shirt – Listed Value $19.99

This shirt is somewhat thinner material than past shirts from Cat Lady Box. Also, at least during my photography attempts, it was prone to wrinkles (this is about my third attempt at taking a picture – I steamed this first, believe it or not). I am not so concerned about that as I already walk around in a layer of cat hair, so wrinkles aren’t so noticeable for me. This is lightweight and a good color for summer.

Kitchen Sponge Set

Kitchen Sponge Set – Listed Value $4.99

These are almost too cute to use. In honor of the shape, they have been dedicated to Sneaky food dish cleanup duty (she eats wet food and her bowls get kind of gross, but I don’t like to use the same sponges on those as I do on my own dishes). They seem to work well.

Here is the back of one of the sponges. You can see that it has a scouring surface, as well.

Sunny Snail Catnip Toy

Sunny Snail Catnip Toy – Listed Value $4.99

I think this guy is adorable. (I hate real snails, but stylized ones are cute.) Several of the kitties expressed interest and when I left this on the floor with other toys, it moved during the night, so Angus is definitely having fun with it.

Colorful Catnip Snake

Colorful Catnip Snake – Listed Value $3.49

This toy is also pretty cute. What I like about it is that it has a long, unusual shape without being a giant kicker toy. My cats actually don’t have anything quite like this. Monkey, in particular, wanted to rub his chin on it.

Angus meets Mr. Snail.

Madison inspects this month’s toys.

Monkey loves the snake toy.

Sneaky’s like, “Can I eat this?”

Mr. Kitty was asleep so I posed him with the toys.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $63.44 for the March 2018 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box. That is definitely more than I paid for the box, plus I feel like the values were pretty accurate this month. I liked that the items were a little off the beaten path this month – sponges and hooks are useful and these are good reminders that just because something is functional doesn’t mean it can’t have a fun shape as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Orders have to be placed by the 22nd of the previous month. So if you sign up today, you'll receive the April box.

Coupon - Use coupon code HELLOSPRING and order before the 2/22 cutoff to save 15% off of any length subscription.

Value Breakdown: At a price of $39.99 for this box, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Bracelet: $6.30
  • Hook set: $12.60
  • Shirt: $12.60
  • Sponges: $3.15
  • Snail toy: $3.15
  • Snake toy: $2.20

I have been watching this box for months. This month seems kinda boring compared to other month reviews, but hey, you have that sometimes. Did they recently raise their price?! For some reason I was thinking it was 24.99 a month for the ‘everything deal” am I mistaking this for another kitty sub??

Fun to get cat themed items, but the t-shirt was rolled up in a ball and it is a stretch to think a little piece of metal on a string is a bracelet. Hope next month is better.

I do enjoy Cat Lady Box, some months more than others. I liked last month with the blanket and make-up brushes a bit more, but I really liked the colors in the tee. My cats, I have four, like all of the toys. I have to keep an eye on them or my son’s large dog sneaks them away to chew the stuffing out of them. I like that no matter what the toy, there always seems to be something at least one of them finds appealing. I’ve pared down my subscription services and currently only get this and boxycharm which I may eliminate soon as I’m almost make-upped out…lol.

Angus likes to bring cat toys downstairs. Nyx knows this, and she follows him around. She knows all the spots where he leaves toys and she makes a beeline for them as soon as she is able to. We have to take cat toys away from her all the time. It is hilarious when she has one, because she will hide her face and not look at you, but there are usually feathers or something peeking out of her mouth.

Ha, ha. That sounds just like Hazel. She is an Australian Malenois mix and has the most sheepish eyes when she’s trying to hide a kitty toy in her mouth. Poor thing just wants to rip up some more stuffing…please??? Ah, the life of a puppy dog in a kitty house…lol

I also like to make note of where favorite toys are when I go to bed, and see where they are when I wake up. Sometimes I can’t even find them!

Use CATLADY40 it is 40% off but you have to get a 3 month subscription I think. I got an email from Cat Lady box this morning. Or GETITMEOW for 15% off first month, last one COOLCAT 20% off first month. I know for sure the 40% works good luck with the others. I look on other sub blogs and got them for you.

I truly believe this is a great idea for a box and I would love to subscribe to it, but every time I see reviews I can’t help but noticing that the quality of the items lacks big time and all items have kind of a washed-out feel about them.
Also, I find it hard to believe that those plastic-y wall hooks cost twenty bucks. I was able to find lots of better variations for the cat wall hooks on Amazon for less than $20 , for example.

I agree the quality could be better. I REALLY don’t like that everything except maybe the clothing items in this box are made in China. Some things I don’t care but for example a mug that is made in China will be a planter in my house. I’m not going to drink or eat out of anything made there. I won’t use cosmetics or skin care made there either. I also question the cat toys. The little snowman toy from a few months ago I had to throw out. It was coming apart and I was afraid my cat would swallow bits of it. There was a catnip toy a while back that I took apart to add more catnip and found there wasn’t any in it to begin with. I think they do a pretty good job with variety of items but need to address quality and over all value.

Pure, unadulterated “awwwwwww” on the wall hook set. I will buy it as soon as they put it in the web shop. The only question is whether to torture my husband with “Do you want these to hang things on in the garage?”

I should also buy a set for my mother, who is moving to a new place next month and has loads of wall-display crapola.
