Now, on to the items!
OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel 8-Cup French Press – Retail Value $40
This coffee press is unique in that it has a silicone base with a handle that sits at the bottom and allows for easy coffee ground removal once you’ve made your coffee:
While I love that design, the plunger screen is not ideal. The sides don’t fit snugly enough in the carafe, so you may still get some grounds in your coffee.
It’s BPA-free and made of glass and stainless steel, so aside from the plunger screen issue, this is a quality piece for $40.
I’m more of a tea drinker anyway, so this design flaw isn’t a burden for me since loose tea leaves did not sneak past the strainer! (If you are interested, here are instructions on how to make tea with a coffee press.)
Peak Sphere Ice Mold – Retail Value $10
This food-safe silicone ice mold is dishwasher safe and BPA free!
You pour the water in the top, freeze, and then the silicone makes it easy to remove.
Here’s the finished product:
It definitely makes a cocktail look classier, and it melts down slower than your typical cubed ice cubes.
This electric toothbrush set comes with 2 removable brush heads and a charging base:
The bristles on the brush heads aren’t too soft or firm, and on the back is a tongue scraper:
I found this toothbrush to be comparable to my current electric toothbrush with two main differences. The design is a bit sleeker (always a good thing), and this toothbrush has four different settings:
Clean, Whiten, Sensitive, and Massage. (The Whiten setting seems to be a bit more intense than the clean setting, the Sensitive setting is a bit less intense, and the Massage setting has stronger vibrations.)
Swanwick Sleep Swannies Blue Light Blocking Glasses – Retail Value $69
I’ve read about blue-light blocking glasses before, but I’ve never tried them. (I’m all about getting as much quality sleep as possible, so I was thrilled to see these in the box!)
The glasses are designed to improve your sleep and health by filtering out harmful artificial light from digital devices. You wear them for at least an hour before you go to sleep, and then you’re good to get a good night’s rest!
Also, from their site:
Optometrists are predicting an epidemic of premature macular degeneration (vision loss) from prolonged exposure to digital devices.
The American Macular Degeneration Foundation reports that “the blue rays of the spectrum seem to accelerate age-related macular degeneration (AMD) more than any other rays in the spectrum”
According to my 23andMe report, macular degeneration is something I’m at risk for, so this is another possible benefit for me.
The glasses come with a little info card with more details on how to sleep better.
And care instructions for your glasses. Microfiber cloth included:
Here are the glasses:
Now, the idea is you are wearing these right before you go to bed, so these don’t have to glasses you’d want to be seen in, but this design is as simple and classic as it can be. (I still look like a bit of a dork in them, though!)
And here I am wearing them to give you a better sense of scale:
They completely block the blue light, and because of that, colors are a bit distorted. It took a few minutes to get used to, but I’m completely on board now. Here’s hoping for even better sleep in my future!
Alien E10 Wireless Earbuds with Charging Case – Retail Value $99
These are officially the best designed wireless earbuds I’ve ever seen.
They charge in the case:
And the earbuds stay snuggly in place thanks to magnets:
The earbuds have a 4.5-hour battery life (or 30 hours with the charging pod.) You can use one or both, they work for talking on your phone in addition to listening to music, and you can tap them for handsfree control to skip tracks, etc.
My husband Eric is the audio expert in our family, and I asked him to help me test these out. He said they were fantastic, had excellent sound, and were the best Bluetooth wireless earbuds he’s ever used.
And they come with additional earbud covers to make sure you get a comfortable fit:
Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $308! At the $139 price, (even without the $15 coupon), I think the value is good. (Even with the Amazon pricing you are still ahead.)
I’ll use everything in this box, and I’ve also discovered two game-changing products: the glasses and the earbuds. (I’d pay full retail price for those items.) I feel like the curators at Breo do a great job of finding really well-designed products that I didn’t know I needed. This is one of those boxes that I like when I open it, and then I like a lot more once I’ve tried all the products.
And the wooden box itself is really well made and a great storage box.
