Siam SEAS Yen Heal and Hydrate Toner – Retail Value $90

I’ve sampled the Siam SEAS brand before thanks to Boxwalla, and it is a great natural beauty line, but sadly, I have issues with this toner. Well, one big issue: the spray nozzle! Even holding this at arm’s length away from my face, it’s still like getting in a water gun fight!

This makes the misting part of the toner unusable for me, but I did apply some to a cotton round to try out the formula. It’s gentle and light on my skin and has a natural, earthy scent.

I should mention that there is a note on the info card about the spray:

Please note that due to the density of the formula of Yen, settling may occur. We recommend shaking your bottle before each application. If Yen starts to spray in a stream, apply product to the palm of your hands and gently press into skin.

I followed the shaking instructions, and still had issues. I think it’s with the mister nozzle itself and not the formula.

Siam SEAS Morning Delight All-in-One Morning Cleanser – 20 ml Value Given $15

This oil-based cleanser also works to remove makeup. Like the mist, it has a natural, earthy scent that may not be for everyone, but I don’t mind it. The cleanser was gentle and left my skin moisturized, too.

Verdict: This month’s Beauty Heroes box has a value of about $105. I think that’s a great value for the $38.33 cost, but I’m disappointed in the hero item this month. If a toner mist retails for $90, I expect it to deliver a fine, even, and refreshing spray!

This month’s issue aside, I appreciate that Beauty Heroes sends top-quality natural and organic brands. This box is about quality over quantity, and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a natural beauty box.

  1. as shown on beauty heroes website, you’re to spray in your hands and press into skin – not spray directly on face. it’s a pain b/c spray would be better, but don’t knock it b/c you can’t spray as it is to be used with your hands

    • Sorry for any confusion – I was disappointed because the directions for use on the actual bottle imply that you can mist it directly on to your face.

      • You would think that putting oily hands all over your face would be a bad idea. Sprayer would be my preference.

  2. I have been itching to try a natural beauty box and the first one that has a great month I will pull the trigger. Unfortunately, this month is an easy pass for me. It’s too bad, I was rooting for Beauty Heroes. I discovered Honua Aloha Youth Serum through them when they offered previous boxes as a stand-alone purchase last year. I have come to love AYS and looking forward to transition to more natural skincare products.

  3. My spray works like yours. It was an unpleasant surprise the first time I tried it! Other than that though I really like the product.

    • Thanks for heads up on the spray. Maybe I can decant the toner into a different bottle when I’m ready to use it.

      • They have those facial misters. The one I have sprays a light mist. Not sure how thick formula is, but it might work.

    • I think every reviewer I’ve seen of this box has had problems with using the mister directly on their face since the formula is thicker (I believe the toner is aloe based). Everyone has been spritzing the toner in their hands, then pressing it into their skin instead.

  4. I agree on the awful mist nozzle! I have some that are not as fine as I prefer, but I’ve never received a product to mist that fails so miserably. It may be partly the heavier formula, but either way they should have made it where it could spray a finer mist, or instead opted for a pump or even screw top.

  5. Hi Liz,
It looks like your review of the morning cleanser got cut off. 🙂

    • ooo thank you for catching that!
