5th Avenue Style is an accessories subscription box based out of New York City that specializes in luxury fashion items at a deep discount. Their motto is “Effortless Elegance” – and they boast that their company is made up of a team of highly professional stylists and fashion veterans. In the deluxe box, you are guaranteed 4-5 branded luxury accessories items with a minimum value of $350.

5th Avenue Style February 2018 Box inside

When you sign up for this box, or any of the variations (e.g. other subscription boxes, their membership club, or limited edition boxes) you will complete a short questionnaire indicating things like what colors you love, which you avoid, your preferred accessories, style, and metal color - and some sizing info where applicable (for instance, with rings).

There are several subscriptions available from 5th Avenue Style including:

  • SUBSCRIPTION BOXES ($98/month or 3 months for $279): Includes 4-5 luxury accessories items such as jewelry, scarves, bags, small leather goods, sunglasses with a minimum value of $250.
  • DELUXE SUBSCRIPTION BOXES ($159 or 3 months for $447): Features 4-5 branded luxury accessories items such as jewelry, scarves, bags, small leather goods, sunglasses with a minimum value of $350.
  • LIBERTY CAPSULE SUBSCRIPTION ($249 every 2 months): Liberty Capsule is a bi-monthly subscription that features 2-3 pieces of high-quality clothing and 1-2 accessory pieces.
  • QUARTERLY VIP SUBSCRIPTION BOX ($390 every 3 months): Features 4-5 items of brand name jewelry and accessories including popular European designers and seasonal items. This box has $900+ Retail Value.
  • QUARTERLY DRESS FOR SUCCESS BOX ($490 every 3 months): Features a branded handbag, 4-5 items of brand name jewelry and accessories along with upscale beauty and skin care products. This box has $950+ Retail Value.

Although the external packing isn’t much to look at – inside of the boring brown box the pieces are tenderly packaged and often beautifully wrapped.

Good to Know: This website is (in my opinion) dire need of updating – so be patient with it. Due to international brands, shipping can sometimes take longer than advertised (advertised at 10-15 days, but I’ve had specialty boxes delayed for 4+ weeks). Their customer service team is friendly and quick to respond to your inquiries though if you have a question on the status of your order. Additionally, if you don’t like your items you are able to use their exchange policy within 7 days of your delivery date. This box was paid for on 1/21/18 and arrived on 3/1/18 – and I’m a monthly subscriber! Be patient – it’s worth it!

5th Avenue Style “Deluxe” February 2018 Review

This month’s box featured a handbag from Italy and 3 pieces of jewelry from France and the US. Let’s check it out:

This is the invoice that was included in the package. It’s great that they tell you the country of origin for each piece, but I do wish they would list retail price.

Luana "Paley" Handbag in Dark Blue - Retail Value $395 (find this bag in black here)

From Luana:

Crafted from textured leather, the Paley Satchel strikes the perfect balance between classic and modern. It’s finished with our signature chain drop and detachable shoulder strap so you can switch up your carrying options. Carry as a top handle or crossbody. Silver hardware.”

Height 8.25” x Length 10.25” x Depth 4.5”

Adjustable Drop 20.5” – 24”

Dust Bag Included

This bag is AMAZING. This brand is often found at Saks and Nordstrom – and the quality is out of this world. Every detail is perfect – from the detail on the attachable strap, the lightweight design (with high-quality hardware), and the 2 small internal pockets (1 zip and 1 non-zip).

My only complaint (that 5th Avenue Style would have NO IDEA about) is that my husband bought me an almost identical Navy Blue Burberry bag for Christmas, that I’ll need to use (to encourage him to continue buying me things like Burberry bags!) From what I’ve seen their customer service is amazing – so I’m going to reach out and see if I can exchange it for another bag (or even the same one in a different color!).

The jewelry items typically come in a sturdy glossy white box (perfect to save for future gift wrapping or storage for trinkets)

Taya "Aurore" Bracelet in Sky/Silver – Estimated Value $65?

For the life of me, I could not find this bracelet (or even something similar online). I used the estimated value from some of the RV’s listed on the swap site. This bracelet is a bit big on my wrist but still wearable (measuring around 7.25” without being stretched and threaded on elastic so could easily become bigger). Most of the bracelet is comprised of multi-faced beautiful sky blue beads (I assume they are glass but am not sure) with purplish undertones and has a single silver metal detail bead. I can see myself stacking this for spring/summer with some other colored beaded bracelets that I own.

Les Georgettes "Girafe Ring" in Silver with Fluid Perspex Insert in Sun/Navy – Total Retail Value $67.80 USD (55.00 €) (Buy separate Fluid Perspex Inserts for $4.93 USD (4.00 €))

Les Georgettes is a French Jewelry brand that’s founded on a concept of customization. I was super excited to get to try out this brand. I’m not sure if the ring that I was sent is a small or medium – I typically wear a 7 on my ring finger and it fits (but was snug). This ring measures a circumference of about 65mm.

I love the ability to wear this by itself as a silver cuff ring, or with either side of the reversible insert for additional variety. I’m really into cuff rings right now, and I know this will be a staple piece for me. I also love wearing yellow when I have a “summer glow.” At first, when I unboxed this I had assumed it was an enamel ring. It’s a little tedious to change the color around – I think it would probably be easiest to do with a pair of tweezers to make sure that it lined up perfectly.

There are 5 other color insert options online…and honestly, I would have been happy with any of them!

How adorable is this packaging? I saved it for last to open because I felt like this was going to be a really big treat. This is for sure a giftable item – although, I’m selfishly keeping for myself!

Les Georgettes Small (14mm width) Bracelet in Silver with 14mm Leather Insert  – Estimated Value $97.39 (79.00 €) (Buy separate 14mm Leather Inserts for $20.96 USD (17.00 €))

I loved getting the matching bracelet! Although, since the inserts are made out of different materials the colors aren’t a perfect match, but pretty darn close. There are 24 different leather insert options, and this is much easier to switch out than the ring. I couldn’t find the exact style online – but there are ones available that are very similar. You can also get this style bracelet in different widths if you like more of a large cuff look. This bracelet is adjustable and the brand claims that this sizing usually fits writes measuring 14-16 cm. It measures about 5.75” from end to end (not including the gap) and comfortably fit my wrist.

Here are some images of the jewelry together so you can see the shade variations:

The Verdict: Good things come to those who wait! Towards the end of February, I followed up with their customer service on the status of this order – and they shipped it out the very next day. I am happy with the items that I received, and their customer service – but I do feel strongly that their website is in desperate need of an update and that there should be more communication and transparency with order status.

This month I received around $625 worth of jewelry, which exceeds the $159 a month cost (including free shipping) and $350 promised value.

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Because of the variation, it’s unlikely that you would get the same items that I’m showing here. The value should be similar and is promised to at least be $350.

Coupon - Now through today, Tuesday, March 6th, use coupon code SPRING1850 to save $50 off the Limited Edition Spring box. 5th Avenue Style Membership Club members can use coupon code SPRING18MEMBER100 to save $100 off.

Value Breakdown: At $159 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Luana Handbag: $100.46
  • Taya Bracelet: $16.53
  • Les Georgettes Ring: $17.24
  • Les Georgettes Bracelet: $24.77

I got Vacavaliente by Paola Navone Recycled leather wallet, Walter Baker necklace and bracelet, Karine Sultan earrings.. the wallet is more of a coupon organizer. I’m using it for storing my gift cards. There’s no way my box is worth more than $350. Very disappointing..

Thanks to the MSA team for reviewing this box, and for a great review by Colette, who knows high end brands.
( Colette, I’d be the same if I’d just gotten a navy Burberry. I’d be looking for a different color bag from 5th Avenue).

This is by far the best monthly box I’ve seen reviewed, and the merchandise from them seems to be what I consider to be more updated and on trend vs. warehoused old stock. The review is very professional in the presentation of the items. These are the things I needed to know- not how excited someone was about a brand of an item or a stated retail price.

Thank you, Mandy, for your kind words!

As a follow up – 5th Ave has already gotten back to me and has reached out to Luana to see if they have a different color that they can ship me (I asked for red, cream, or white). I continue to be pleased with their customer service – and full disclosure, my order through them is under a different name so they are not offering me unusual or preferential treatment at all!

I hope my March box is as good as yours. My February box was very disappointing..

Reply ButtonReply

Colette

O no! What did you get? I’ve had some less appealing boxes in the past too – but I still feel like the good outweighs the bad – and that even the things that aren’t on point for me are swap-able or gift-able!

Vacavaliente by Paola Navone Recycled leather wallet, Walter Baker necklace and bracelet, Karine Sultan earrings.. the wallet Has the quality of a coupon organizer – flimsy. I’m going to store my gift cards. There’s no way my box values $350. Very disappointed..

Amy

I’m more into your nails than anything in this box.

Me too! They’re amazing! Colette, please share what you used on your nails 💅🏻

Amy, I was thinking the same thing. I usually don’t post but I need to know what’s going on with Colette’s nails, lol. (BTW, love the box as well–that purse!–but it’s a little spendy for me right now.)

Colette

It’s simple! It’s gel polish (so I get them done about every 2 weeks). This look is just a black polish with a “foil” overlay – they basically take transfer foil and dab it onto the polish – comes in all different colors – and then apply a top coat to seal it all.

Colette

Thanks Amy!! I love a good, fun mani!

5th Avenue boxes has become my favorite sub boxes. Not sure I could do a monthly, however.

Colette

Yes, it is one of the more expensive boxes for sure. I have a lot of women in my family, so I gift a lot of the items – I justify the expense as part of my “gift budget” to my hubby!
